I am following all your female kegel exercises. My doctor recommended it for the tail bone pain I’ve been having. Can you show some exercises specifically for this- the tail bone? I love how you do the exercises with us, as opposed to just showing us what to do as with other physiotherapists. You’re doing a great job and helping so many people. There’s no greater gift.

great vid! totally reframing my idea of kegels, thinking of "gains" in my pelvic floor muscles! also the slow contractions back down, and the pulses at the top. thank you so much!
@michellephysio12 жыл бұрын
Hi great question - these are among the most common mistakes we see it usually means that the pelvic floor muscles are weak &/or may be trying to contract too strongly. Start activate just gently, focus on getting your technique right, then progress to stronger holds.You'lll find as your strength imrpoves, you should be able to breathe normally. You might try your Kegels lying down - on your belly, side or back (see beginners workout episode 4 of this series). Hope this helps! M

Hi Michelle, I'd like to check in on something you don't mention in these videos and that is how are we meant to breath while we are holding the lift and squeeze? Are we just inhaling or just exhaling or practicing both while holding? you mention a big breath after to relax the pelvic floor but I'm assuming it's also important what we are doing with our breath while contracting? Thank you

Hi Angela this will depend on how intact your pelvic floor (PF) muscles are. If you can sense some contraction then this is a good sign that progressive exercises can help. If your PF nerves or muscles have been damaged this will be more difficult. The key to strengthening is to progress (like in the gym) to strong holds and upright positions once you can contract your correctly. If you feel unsure abdout how to contract then see a PF Physio - we have gadgets and techniques etc hope this helps M

Good morning What are the stages for pelvic organ prolapse? Please And, what is cystocele? Please. Some one can answer me thanks
@michellephysio Жыл бұрын
@lilysomoano9155 A cystocele means the bladder has fallen out of place backwards into the front of the vaginal wall. Stage 1 means the bladder protrudes a little way into the vagina. Stage 2 means the bladder protrudes almost to the vaginal opening. Stage 3 means the bladder protrudes out of the vagina. Stage 4 means the bladder protrudes out of the vagina. I hope this info helps! 🙏

Why are liftings for only 10 seconds? Could i increase the lifting time to accelerate the outcome?
@michellephysio9 жыл бұрын
Dina Refai 10 seconds is the ideal length of time for training strength as women should use maximum strength with each hold when training for strength and control.Yes the exercises can be held for longer - up to 15 seconds to train endurance however most women are unable to use maximum strength for this length of time. Make sure to relax the pelvic floor between each contraction all the best to you Dina

every time I "lift" I feel like The only thing contracting is the rectum...not the vagina... Am I doing it wrong?
@michellephysio9 жыл бұрын
+Anastacia Romanov your pelvic floor muscles are continuous with your rectum so you should feel the rectum contracting. As your strength & control improve you may start to feel more in and around your other pelvic openings too. You're on track.

@michellephysio9 жыл бұрын
+SHANKAY HAMILTON absolutely - these exercises can help with the tone of the vagina. Women with loose or lax pelvic floor muscles can have difficulty retaining a tampon or sometimes this occurs after vaginal delivery. Sometimes women just don't know that their pelvic floor muscles are weak. This is a great question, thank you!
