Keighley & Worth Valley Railway - Spring Steam Gala 2020

The 6th-8th March 2020 saw the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway's Spring Steam Gala take place. In usual fashion the railway turned out as many of its operational fleet as possible with an intensive timetable over the weekend, along with one guest locomotive in the shape of GWR Large Prairie No 4144 from Didcot Railway Centre. The event was also another opportunity to see LMS Jubilee No 45596 'Bahamas' making its way along the Worth Valley over the course of the three day event.
Despite the recent storms and the forecast not being all that great, the weather for the event was much better than expected, with wall to wall blue skies for the most part on the Friday, and while the Saturday was mostly overcast, Sunday saw the sun return once again.

Big Jim is extremely interesting. The Yanks designed a brute of an engine that fits Brit loading gauge. Well done to the K&WVR for its preservation and use.

Very much enjoyed, thank you. A most imaginative variety of locations giving uninterrupted interest. Particularly liked the double-headers and top'n'tails. Remarkable synced exhausts at 18:15! The 4144 goods departure was a joy to watch. Very well done with the atmospheric closing sequences in the yard, then the timely appearance of the double-header passing... that was either very carefully planned or a big chunk of good luck! KWVR spring steam Gala was in early March before coronavirus outbreak and pandemic until further notice when it’s all over allowing life reopens up will be back to normal again soon.
