(Gotta specify that I am in fact being sarcastic.) I got my issues with the media, and I think it's good to be skeptical of their reporting. But they do the legwork. (Well, investigative reporters and print journalism anyways.) Or at the very least have access to the people with the information. In some ways it could even be argued that a reporter is entitled to their biases, more than most. At the very least their conclusions or assumptions (right or wrong) have the backing of an advanced information gathering and parsing network. That's more than what you got. You're just you. The news is a team effort, that works ok, but not perfectly.

all votes are quality votes. After all, no one is forced to vote. Here in Australia citizens are required to vote or face a fine. Before immigrants are sworn in as new citizens they are required to fill out a voter registration form before getting their citizenship papers you don't fill it out you don't get the papers. In the US some people won't register to avoid the possibility of Jury duty or for lack of interest. Those that vote do so because they want to; making it easier to vote does nothing to the quality of vote because they don't have to even register if they don't want to. I do know that people here do make votes that are not quality votes because all they truly need to do is show up and get their name ticked off the list. some fill the ballot in some just go through the motions and cast a blank ballot or ballot that would not be counted.

Florida purged my husband and me from the rolls before the 2016 election, without sending us any kind of notification or attempting to contact us (we've been living at the same address for almost ten years), even though we have voted in every single election since we've been living here. in the 2016 election I went to the same place I have voted for years, from the same address I've lived long enough to PAY OFF the mortgage. But I was aware of their new ID laws and made sure to get a new state ID since my drivers' license was expired. They told me I was not on the voter rolls. THREE hours later-- with me digging in my heels, luckily having the time and obnoxiousness to demand answers-- they "found" me on a special list of people who APPLIED FOR NEW ID's in the six months before the election. They'd "provisionally" removed all those people "pending investigation". Everyone who got a new state ID was too "suspicious" to keep on the voter rolls. Of course, I live in Texas. These retail, sneaky changes to strangle voter participation add up to scrubbing the votes of a bunch of "suspicious" sorts like middle-aged Austinites who got new ID's IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE WE COULD VOTE! Anybody who wasn't stubborn enough just to stand there and raise hell for hours would have just been denied the franchise for no reason anybody knew. The people running the polling place didn't know a thing about who had been purged and why. Married women had to legally change their names AND bring the paperwork on the name change to the polls to vote that year. Think that did anything to bring down the numbers of married women who got to vote even if they wanted to do so? A few others who waited in line with me were refused because their ID's showed their "maiden names" - because it's usually Republicans who adopt their husbands' names. It simply makes my blood boil to hear this pompous fool keep dodging the fact that people ARE being disenfranchised (adult nonmilitary family members who move frequently because of a family member's postings) by pointing at other people who "theoretically" get to vote IF they jump through all the hoops set up to diminish their participation. This is voter suppression by a thousand cuts and a million bits of GOP BS.

I'm new to this so there is some confusion How is removing dead people and people who don't live there anymore a bad thing? How come people think blacks can't get id? Why are people fighting transparency? Biden is president,it's done. Because of the election fiasco (people not trusting result) seems to be a good idea to confirm that you are a legal voter by way of id. I personally know people like he described, they don't care about political stuff at all, why would you send them ballots they didn't ask for ? I witnessed this first hand with my girlfriend and her daughters plus myself. We voted in person but there I was standing in the living room with 4 extra ballots. Tossed them out but I wondered did this happen everywhere ?

As a military spouse living in Texas who has a husband deployed in Kuwait during this past election. My residential state is the state we intend to return too once my husband exits the military. I was not able to get an absentee ballot as is legal and just. The only way I was able to vote in this election, was thanks to my parents whom still live in Illinois. I had a mail in ballot sent to them and they forwarded it to me. Otherwise I’d have to drive 17 hours non stop to go and vote in person. Yet if they weren’t living there, I’d have no idea what county to vote in.

For those who may need an absentee ballot or mail in ballot, I would suggest sending a very polite and humble email to the circuit clerk from where you last lived or need a ballot from. Remember that they are super busy and just plan to get a response in 2 weeks (If you get an earlier response, it’s a positive. Rather than expecting an immediate response and being disappointed/angry that you didn’t get one when you wanted one)

Really, its not hard to visit the league of women voters website for your state, read up on everything and every candidate on the ballot and exactly what ballot initiatives would change.... Takes less time on average than watching this CNN video. Can take up to an entire half hour if your a slow reader... Stfu, on uninformed. Non biased information has been on the league of women voters website for every election since the 1980s... Even at dial up speed it took less than A half hour to be thoroughly informed. 🙄

I did take a look at the financials. I wouldn't say travel was necessarily high, but If I take a look at the bookkeeping and start asking questions, do you think I'll find personal travel expenses? I would like to know Virginia Kase's political affiliation and salary. It appears to be a club for democrats, so I think that might turn a lot of voters off. Anyway, every state has an election board. Most candidates have their own website and I would look at the specifics of every proposition on my own. I think voters can spend a few minutes more, for better information that doesn't require a membership. Political contributions are not tax deductible in my state, neither are they deductible on your federal tax return. Pass on LWV.

In the UK we are automatically sent polling cards, we do NOT have to request them. Whether or not we go on to then vote is entirely our choice. This has always been the way and it works fine.
