The coldest weather always happens during the winter when there is high pressure which means virtually no wind, often heavy cloud at ground level meaning no renewable energy at all. During the recent cold snap in late November the renewables produced 3% of energy demand, meaning we needed hughe amounts of gas and oil to keep just the lights on. This will happen again and again. Depending on renewables only is only for the totally deranged and deluded. That is what we have in the current Govt.

Thats the trouble with solar . Its fact that in the winter we need more energy. But we produce v3ry little. Wind turbines have much limitations too windy switch them off no wind no power . Why don t the goverment subsidise solar panels and batterys on every house make them all in THIS country. And sell them in this country. And properly subsidise them . For 5 years .
