We got rid of our electric car after it took us 8 hours to get home on what would have been a 3 hour journey in a petrol car. We waited 2 hours TWICE on our way home to recharge the car. Manufactures don’t tell you that performance and range is vastly reduced in winter. Our car was supposed to have a 230 mile range. In winter it struggled to manage 140 miles. Useless.

What happens whe we start running out of oil in 30-40 years? Even if we put the whole pollution/climate change issue aside, we know that oil usage even at current levels is not sustainable forever and usage is going to increase dramatically far beyond oil output capacity in the coming decades with countries like India and China still developing with over 3 billion people. Moving to sustainable energy and oil is a practical move to preserve and maintain oil production for much longer. Oil is used in practically all consumer goods, from plastic to manufactured goods to clothing, footwear, glasses etc. If we cannot produce enough affordable oil to maintain our global economy, climate change will be the least of our problems.

I work as a nurse in the community. My garage, that I rent, has no access to electricity and my car is parked 50 yards from my home. I have no access to electricity to charge my car at home. I travel 20 miles each way to work and back home and around 60 miles a day visiting patients in their homes. VAT is charged on electricity at the charging stations but not if you can charge up at home. Benefits the wealthy again. I don’t have the time or money to own an electric car! The government have obviously not thought this thing through or they just don’t give a fuck. (Excuse my language, but I’m really frustrated with this bunch of morons)

They already tried to replace the bus fleet with natural gas powered buses. It failed. They suffered major overheating problems. The seats in the bus near to the engine got too hot to sit on.

Utter crazy, M6 last week 14 electric cars waiting on services to charge and the 5 chargers were busy, thought it was a tesla convention. 😂 Can you imagine having to wait hours just to plug in on a journey and then wait another hour for some charge. No thanks long live the combustion engine

Let's not forget to mention the EU directives, laws and regulations, the WEF and COP agenda that have led to this and the ruination of Europe and the UK. Whilst the situation for hundreds of millions of people deteriorate the policy makers, bureaucrats and politicians still come out smelling of roses. They're responsible, now is time to make them accountable.

Electrification of public transport ? History repeats itself. Born in Brighton in 1951 I sadly witnessed the decline and eventual extinction of our 'trolley bus' network. These vehicles and their predecessors, elegant trams, took their power supply from overhead cables. I believe the still fully operational Volks Railway on the seafront was the first in the world to use electricity as a power source.

I have a degree in chemistry and my husband has a degree in electrical engineering. In very cold weather the rate of the chemical process that enables recharging slows dramatically. In other words, the rate is temperature dependent, not independent as you are suggesting. You need an indoor garage to enable you to recharge efficiently if rechargingat home. The man we are talking about is an qualified electrician so he also is eminently qualified to understand the problem and work out if it is faulty equipment or the temperature that is the problem.

Electric cars have a huge carbon foot print green energy would never be able to run the whole world . Green energy carbon footprint is massive, from putting equipment together to producing energy these wind sails last 25 yrs and can’t be recycled and will never pay for them selfs in their life span .

It's not cost or range, they have no resell value and thus there is no secondhand market which is a major component of the sector. EVs simply don't fit the model with such a huge cost soaked up by a consumable part, the battery. This government policy was to drive sales and had nothing to do with net zero or the climate.

Listen, in a free market capitalist economy it is supposed to be business which drives innovation and change in technologies. However we don't live in a free market democracy. Since Blair we have seen the rapid growth of a far left technocray which now controls the civil service and all other government institutions. Blair & Brown then outsourced almost all government decision making to quangos/NGO's (OBR, Climate change committee, the Supreme Court, Ofcom, English Nature etc). These are unaccountable bodies staffed so called experts, mostly politically appointed left wing technocrats whom nobody voted for. These bodies are tasked to drive forward a political and cultural narratives, completely divorced from what most of the general public want. The New Labour plan which was adopted by centre left Tory administrations has brought us to the present malaise and given us an authoritarian far left technocray of a government. We have a bloated state which seeks to control every aspect of our lives. It favours a planned economy which means the state tells businesses to act ideologically, by over regulation and by setting targets based on ideological rules. Examples of this are seen in the implementation of the catastrophic Net Zero obsession/ Climate alarmism. Our last blast furnaces have been shut down, sending jobs and prosperity abroad, leaving poverty and despair behind. Also Vauxhall are now closing a huge van factory due to ludicrous EV targets and sanctions on manufacturing. The UK has slept walked into a dystopia, where rigid extreme ideologies rule our lives. We have a politicised legacy media, police force, armed services, education system, which seeks to suppress the majority, while assigning special protection for so call minority groups and which seeks to denigrate our history and achievements through lying about the past reimagining the past and present through the lense of victimhood, race, religion and sexuality. This WOKE/cultural Marxist assault on the west is what the politcal/technocratic elites want, as it means the nation state identity, history and culture will eventually be erased. You can see this with their policies on immigration. While telling the public they will cut immigration, they have taken it to record an unimaginable levels. The is to accelerate the demise of indigenous culture, tradition and religion, to buy the immigrants votes and to supply cheap labour to their Global business partners. The end game will be a world created in the image of the Chinese state. A world government, where people will have nothing, have their finances and movements rigidly controlled, while being farmed for their data and fed whatever muck the state deems to feed them. But as they say at Davos, you "will be happy" 😔
