Let's do a little analysis here. At a young age as a working man I paid for the pensions of the previous generation. I also paid for the upbringing of my children and their education and healthcare (not cheap). I worked from age 17 to 70. At age 77 I still look after grandchildren Friday evening to Sunday morning so the parents can work (again not cheap). I have a very small private pension so I pay income tax, I pay excessive VAT tax on many purchases, council tax and the ridiculous amount on fuel and car tax. Insurance carries a tax as does many other things in life in the UK. Perhaps we should be looking at the spongers who have made 'not working' a lifestyle and the illegal immigrants who should be living in very basic accommodation, not their current relative luxury

Spongers also include government. All in parliament sponge off the taxpayer, imagine the saving if we didn't have to pay a bloated 'civil service' for doing nothing worthwhile.

Perhaps if the Government over the years had paid our Pension contributions into a ring fenced investment fund they wouldn't be facing these problems. It's probably the number of immigrants who have come Into the country as an elderly family member who won't have had chance to pay into the system but still gets a pension when they reach that age. That has added pressure too. Instead what we pay in goes into central coffers, like the Road fund tax, all being used for other projects. Wrong, wrong, wrong. My bills are all paid by my working out each month what needs to be put away to pay the bill when the time comes. I do not spend it on other things. That's where the real problem lies.
