does anyone know the title of the piece on 1 hour and 50 mins?
@UltrafiAV Жыл бұрын
Yes, this piece is called "The Cure". The trio also has an ECM album called "The Cure" released in 1991, which also contains this song. This entire concert is also available on DVD. Fun fact: I was actually at this concert. I was living and working in Hamamatsu city at the time, so a bass player friend and I took the bullet train to Tokyo to see the concert. We sat in the fourth row just right of center. A fantastic concert! I kept my ticket stub as a souvenir. It was ¥8,000 (about $80 Canadian at that time).

Well..is it necessary to do all that goddam magilla with the body and the mumbling ? can’t you just play ? I mean …you’re very good but…why?

Keith has PERFECT pitch and literally sings the notes to himself as he’s playing. Yes, when he’s performing, he has to.

Shame about the silly histrionics and singing. It ruins the performance and makes it look cheap.
@davidsheriff92742 ай бұрын
His vocalizing Is not histrionics at all,he has been asked about it before, and he says it's not done consciously and he can't help it,if you look up some interviews he talks about it,If you don't like it and you think it's distracting and annoying, that's one thing and many people agree with you, but to say that he's intentionally doing it to be theatrical and quirky is simply not true. There is nothing phony and "showbizy"about him at all,he is a true artist. BTW, there are other pianists that unintentionally verbalize as well when they play like Glenn Gould and Oscar Peterson. Keith recently had a debilitating stroke,he did an interview with Rick Beato and if you watch that you will see that he is a very mild mannered humble person,he wouldn't dream of doing anything phony on stage, that's not who he is.
