The first few bars of "Satisfaction" gets him into Rock Heaven. 50 years later that riff still sends shivers down my spine. It could be the best opening of any rock song ever, and "Keef" wrote it when he was 21.
@rvalderas16 жыл бұрын
It's been said that Keith came up with the riff as he was waking up in the middle of the night. Turned on the tape recorder and banged it out. Then fell back to sleep. The recording supposedly had five minutes of riff and 45 minutes of snoring. Imagine the value of that tape if it still exists. Haha.I also read or heard Kieth admit that he begged Mick not to record it in the studio because he thought it would bomb.

I agree.......that riff, and Berry's Johnny B made rock and roll
@petrslivinski74816 жыл бұрын
@@@rvalderas1 I heard and read about the story differently. There was a meeting with the group members: Jagger and Richards voted for the song not to be released. Jones, Wyman, and Watts voted to have the song released. Jones argued with Jagger and Richards that it was a sure #1 hit when it hits the air waves: Wyman and Watts agreed with Jones. Jagger and Richards were not too happy about releasing the song and disliked Jones for giving his vote to the other members. Jones was supposed vote along with Jagger and Richards. The song did become a major hit when it charted on Billboard. That's history! Many feel that because Brian Jones never received credit for writing songs only lending his expertise to playing and giving the group their unique sound using instruments that weren't conventionally used in Rock and Roll. RIP Brian Jones.

I felt i learned quite a lot about the "traditional Keith" in his book "Life". An only child so family means a lot to him. There are photos in the book of his parents and relatives. Loves dogs and in Russia during a world tour one year noticed this stray dog which turned up at the concert venue (the stage crew had been feeding it). Keith made enquiries, had it vaccinated and shipped out to live the rest of his days at Keiths home. He named him Rasputin. He's also a serious culture vulture who knows his history and enjoys being in different countries meeting people. This video was shot when he was 67.....he's 76 now and STILL rockin'!!

Keith Richards has taken some hard hits throughout his life and has proven himself very resilient. He's comes from the school of hard knocks, a survivor. The Rolling Stones have always been a big inspiration for me to learn and play guitar and harmonica. Slow going, I like to try anyways. Even just talking about it is great fun. There might even be a Native American Vision tied in with everything, but that remains to be seen. It could also land me in deep trouble, too, if I'm not careful. All I know is that it helps me and it's a positive path for me. Right now it's all I have going, right now I'm running on pure Native American Vision, pure Spiritual power that keeps me going, There is an equation, some eagle's feathers, some songs an Invisible Army and a theory that backs it up. Without it, I'm nothing, Bearsbelly- Native American Medicine man

I always 'liked' the Rolling Stones, but was never a true fan. It took reaching 52 years of age to really appreciate them, and now i have to rank Keef as my No. 3 or 4 'guitar hero.' It's crazy, how much music the Stones have. I once-recently-found a guitar pedal demo on youtube, where the presenter was playing a song i thought was by the Stones, but i couldn't identify it. I spent an hour or so scrubbing through the entire Stones collection on iTunes previews, trying to find it. And i incidentally learned just how many amazing songs they have, that i either hadn't heard, or had heard only once or twice in my lifetime. Phenomenal stuff. And Keith did it without pyrotechnics or virtuostic skills. Just a couple of guitars, maybe a Phaser every now and again. Inspiring.

My family actually come from the same town in London & I have an idea my old man might have served in the same tank regiment as Keith's dad doing the same job but am looking into that further. Generally *EastEnders* are the salt of the Earth who will try & find joy & fun in life.
