So my theory is this: It’s hinted from one of the collectible descriptions that the park used to use costumes before switching to live mascots. Obviously having a live lion anthro around people is risky so to protect the guests, they installed a high pitched noise alert that would go off if Lloyd go too close/aggressive with any of the park guests. I suggest that it emits a frequency that only works for Lloyd because it doesn’t go off when Mollie attacks the player, hinting that the frequency may be designed for Felines.

They're great designs and they manage to pack a good bit of personality into Rambley in a pretty short time. He's a silly little guy, no complaints there. The gameplay is typical mascot horror scares/chase sequences, nothing you couldn't get from other games in the same genre, which unfortunately really doesn't grab my attention at all, but if the game catches on it will def be due to the strength of its character designs

there's not a lot of good game in the game, I'd say it'd be pretty mediocre had it not been for Rambley. He carries the whole experience. If they don't fix the numerous issues with gameplay and hilariously bad set-pieces (what's up with all the rubble?) the next chapters won't be worth engaging with. Hopefully the popularity won't make the dev team complacent; they seem like a passionate bunch so there's a non-zero chance that the problems will get resolved.

If you *click* on the collectibles, Rambley has something to say. Also, the mascots are genetically engineered animals. They used to have clothes before the park was abandoned, but overtime they lost said clothes. Except Mollie’s hat. She kept her hat.

I really really hope they go back and give chapter 1 the TLC it needs, at the very least improve going forward. Rambley is fantastic, goes without saying they have something special with him. The character designs in general are good, the writing is fun, the OST is good especially that credits song and the leitmotif in general. The atmosphere is sufficiently creepy and there's a lot of potential with the abandoned theme park setting. But the gameplay is pretty janky as that chase scene proves. Some things just feel rough, unpolished or lack attention to detail like those weird high counters or the fairly blank skybox in what's meant to be a Disneyland parody. Regardless I personally can't wait for more. I'm so invested in this little raccoon cartoon AI

But I think he has potential if he doesn't take his eye off the real prize; delivering the best experience possible with his game and telling the story with the characters in the environment he set out to. Glad he's gonna go back and polish Chapter 1 as it sorely deserves. Hope he makes the gameplay more interesting and compelling.

Still love the musical bit at the end. Am a sucker for that stuff and it does take work to make. Also, newest essasy was an enjoyable watch. Hope it does well.

So one of the reasons i think the park is in half ruins is because I think it's possible the state or another owner bought the land and their in the middle of dismantling it or beginning it. Which would explain fresh garbage cuz of the construction workers taking breaks.

I sort of like this game for Rambly and how the world has the hint of how you can feel the Disneyland inspired influence on this world at times. Two big notes of it being the two statues close to the beginning. But I do wonder if any of the real life darker stories might inspire more things to pop up in the game?

The chase scene is sadly pretty buggy and provides fairly poor feedback (part of that might be how Mollie is scripted to 'cheat' around to come out of slides, meaning you don't really have a consistent distance-to-pursuer to base constant positional audio off, just disconnected callouts). Teleporting the player to a different location for the single fixed kill animation (and a few other places where 'cutscene'/'setpiece' sequences interrupt normal control flow and replace the player model) also show some seams (flashlight state being lost after the Lloyd scene, to give another example). Combined with the use of fade-outs to skip climbing animations/etc., it seems they aren't comfortable with switching the player character through different states/animations. (part of it may be that they don't have a real player model to manipulate for complex animations, you're just a disembodied pair of surprisingly buff arms, so it's tough to visualize how to even choreograph some of those movements.) Asset scaling/placement height also seems to be a little bit of a challenge, but I couldn't honestly say I'd do any better, particularly with how heavily a small project like that needs to rely on third-party asset packs. Speaking of which, I hope they get better than the shipping-container textures for their security doors -- they work, but they're pretty distinctive in source. I've also heard people mentioning that the doors snapping open and closed silently don't really give good feedback, which is a good point too. You'd think a huge metal security shutter like that would have some more drama to it when it moves. Especially given that how FAST and FORCEFULLY they move becomes a plot point. The texture seemed chosen to be mildly intimidating by their out-of-place raw metallic sturdiness and the causal speed Rambley snaps them open and closed with, but the rest of their behaviour (other than Mollie's demise) doesn't sell it. Throw some caution stripes around the threshold (maybe blended into Indigo Park purple-and-blue livery in places where yellow would be too garish) , put a little warning light over them, have the light turn on and give them a whirr and a grind sound just before they noisily THUNK open or closed; have the Mollie door start closing, spit spark/smoke particles, judder to a halt only a quarter closed, and continue labouring against the jam before snapping shut at the last second like that to sell the tension. Some people I watched also criticized the 'collapsed tunnel' transition for being underwhelming, which seems fair. Hopefully their command of the engine gets better over time. There's a real charm to the game and world, but the implementation is pretty shaky in places. I suppose that's to be expected for new developers, but I hope they improve! I've seen other people who missed the fact that, in addition to the player character's thoughts about each item in the text descriptions, you could also click on the collectibles to get Rambley to comment on them. ("Ew, Lloyd...") You're not the only one, maybe that could have been telegraphed a bit better too. I liked how they showed a pretty good command of what direction the player looks. You pretty much moved your reticule over flesh-and-blood Mollie during cardboard Mollie's introduction, and didn't notice! Relatively few players actually do, even though she's right in front of them, and once you know where she is it's pretty impossible to miss!

I think the lore people have pieced together so far is that they WERE close friends but when Lloyd became famous, his personality changed and he became more pompous and stuck up and Rambley got sick of him.

I do find it funny that you read out loud the statement about Clicking to hear from Rambley and then out loud wonder why all the descriptions from hovering over the collectables did not give Rambley's point of view. Also I think you had a harder time on the Mollie chase than anyone else. I think you are right about the speed needing to be a bit more consistent. For the record the things that let her catch you was double jumping on the straight trampoline, and getting caught on the bar during the second longfall. I think a silly little meter on the side mixed with a more consistent speed would have helped.

Finally got time to actually sit through all of this with a clear mind, and I can see why the Podcast episode went the way it did. The game feels... over-produced and under-developed, with far too much energy and focus being put on more "marketable" aspects instead of actual gameplay elements, with a weird... Clinical execution around those marketable aspects. So I think I stand by my assessment from the Podcast data, as most of this just... confirms things, while making it more ambiguous if it's truly just inexperience or *intentionally* designed first and foremost to be "viral". I can see why people would attach to the characters, but all of the red flags are concerning. Especially with the timetable vs. what is actually present, for the length. All the emphasis seems *far* too focused on what actually got development attention. We'll see I suppose.

But I kind of *am* in that my word choice and phrasing was far more diplomatic then I would have been in a casual conversation. I'd rather be honest and highlight problems and issues so that they can be fixed and worked on for future releases or balance tweak patching, rather then ignore them. And things felt off, as did the fact the man started selling merch for the project on release of this. I don't have a problem with that necessarily, but that and how it looks like development was focused, I find that very, very concerning. In a Star Citizen kind of way. But I could be wrong, and I'd almost prefer to be. I stand by my point though, and I found those two data points soured my feelings on the whole thing.

Yeah the voice actor has a wonderful singing voice, BUT they made him sing in the goofy mascot voice! I get it would have weird to have Rambley show off some major bars but i feel like this song was a little bit of a waste of the va's talents😭
