Two things: 1, Mollie's mimicry might become more important in a revision of chapter 1, as UniqueGeese is considering having Rambley guide the player with his voice, and Mollie tries to lure the player by mimicking Rambley. 2: The death screen is actually from the same artist that did JR.'s death screens! UniqueGeese originally commissioned the piece for promos but liked it so much it was put into the game.

I've heard people complain about the "warehouse aesthetic" of jetstream junction a ton, but as somebody actually *in* the aviation industry; I can confirm that *is* what aircraft hangers look like, albeit the indigo park one is exactly how a theme park would try to make a hanger look more "themed" around aviation. I do think the game suffers from a lack of details on the walls and floors, but that is an issue in more places than molly's area.

I like the use of a Magic Band as your primary tool, very fitting. I also like how the theme park actually looks like a park and has attractions-way too many mascot horror games just drop you in a random place and want you to believe that the building with fifty-foot drops and endless hallways is some kind of kids entertainment place.

There are parts where it looks like a theme park but some of the environments are pretty uninspired. Like Mollys landing pad just being the generic daycare playpen look and having nothing to do with the theming. Or the copious amounts of generic rock rubble even in places it doesn’t belong.

on the one hand I agree but on the other hand I find it interesting that a lot of references to Salem seem to have been removed (plushies, their section in the train ride, and they don't have a ride of their own) while Rambley seems to have shown up later, based on all the evidence that Lloyd used to be the main mascot...wonder if there's any connection there? I don't think they're the same character (if nothing else you wouldn't think Salem's pronouns would change like that) but it's definitely a bit suspicious. Maybe Rambley used to work for Salem and is being manipulated by them somehow...?

I appreciate how you didn’t imply that what we see in Chapter 1 will be the end-all be-all for the rest of the chapters. A lot of the criticism I've seen from other people seems to be needlessly harsh, like if they believe Mason isn't going to do more with the game than what we got in the first chapter. Okay, so the Critter Cuff doesn’t do anything except open doors, Rambley is easily the most memorable part, and you do a lot of walking. But that doesn’t automatically mean the full game is going to be a boring walking simulator with a marketable character and some horror elements thrown in. The first chapter is free, the game has a Kickstarter, and there isn't a merch store plastered on the main menu. That alone tells me Mason actually cares about making a good game instead of just using Rambley to make money.

Is it weird that I’m fine with something being just a walking sim? Mascot horror games aren’t games I play for super deep or enriching gameplay. There's some promise in the idea that could create for some unique mechanics, I'd absolutely be down for that, then again that's probably the 3,000+ hours I have in FromSoftware games talking. Not all mascot horror games need to be that, but that would sure as hell set one apart from the rest.

One of the best part is that Rambley feels like an AI with programed in rules that he’s having to deal with. The best example of this would be him designating the player as a new employee so they can use the staff room without getting in trouble, especially that brief pause before he does so, showing that he’s processing the situation.

17:26 Funny thing about you saying this because the actual artist who made those game over screens for Jr's was brought on for Indigo Park's game over screens and definitely more screens to see in future chapters Btw, appreciate a lot about this video in general, most reviews are always over positive or over negative on the game instead of actually providing some valid critsicm. Definitely felt you there when you addressed that you wished the best for the game, and I agree. Despite the cons of the first chapter, the game has overall huge potential for improves and updates to the set pieces and environments. I can tell with the increased budget and now that UniqueGeese has graduated, there will be a lot more time and work being put into the 2nd chapter, and possibly a redoing of chapter 1 as a whole to keep it into their current view they will bring with Chapter 2. Sort of like how Bendy and the Ink Machine updated previous chapters to match with the quality of recent chapters at the time Also as a con from myself I didn't see you mention, I do wish there wasn't too many fade to black loading screens. I understand why they were implemented for the sake of not bringing major lag, but I think in certain sections like the transition into the tunnel to Rambley's Railroad could just not have a loading screen, and then fade to black while going on the train. I think UnqiueGeese has mentioned that he wanted to change this in some way so there isn't any lag, but still some proper smooth transitioning

I guess one thing about Molly's Landing Pad... It's not just strange it's a play place theming-wise like you mentioned, but you'd have to wonder why there's a secret path unlocked by rotating blocks that's pretty much the only attraction outside of the slides and the maze. Kids are gonna get lost in that section all the time. The puzzle was fun gameplay-wise though.

I think that the arcade is saying that Salem the Skunk did something to the mascots to make them the way they are now. Hence probably why they had to evacuate the the park. Oh and Molly in the cage either means there is another Molly trapped or it was saying Molly was trapped in her mind

someone pointed out to me that the park would’ve closed down in 2015 (assuming the game takes place in 2023), and a lot of it makes sense - namely the fact that the characters have a pretty modern design!! and that would make the critter cuff’s existence make sense, too - the disney magic band (what the critter cuff is pretty obviously based on) was introduced in 2013! i have some theories abt specifically salem (i think they’re the newest addition to the cast) but for now i’m just hanging back and enjoying people play through it :)

Thing is it's barely audible to hearing people and there's no subtitle. I know I'm HoH but I'm able to hear dog whistles and am sensitive to high pitch noises, I never hear anything and I'm listening with amplification tech. Very odd. I only knew because it was commented on in GTLive's comments.

So with the massive funding of chapter 2, there is actually a high chance chapter 1 will be reworked and Lloyd likely will be reworked to be more thematically designed like his character akin to how Mollie is. Speaking of, by showing the Mollie Plush to Rambley, he mentions that Mollie is his best friend. Coupling that with the official soundtrack's image whic hfeatures Rambley and Mollie dancing together, the implication is that Mollie is the Minnie Mouse to Rambley's Mickey.

Yeah she has been watching ever since the train here is the path before the landing Pad where she appears 4 times before then:- First appearance: She appears in Mollie's section right at the end in the right corner but will leave as you get about halfway across the section (about the time Mollie talks about barnstorming) Second Appearance: In Lloyd's section look to the left and she will appear in the curetain section right next to you. Third Appearance: After getting off the train and looking at the captured images from the ride you'll see a blurry image of Mollie in one of the monitors Fourth Appearance: She will appear in the theater by the entrance to the backstage after you go in, you can hear her speak after you get to the backstage, she will stay their either till you look behind to see her or until you are laving after getting the key

The illusion of a threat can be done fairly well and I just feel as if they’ve used the enemies too much in my opinion. Having the enemy seem as if they’re stalking you or looming the park is a very nice concept and if you don’t really want to have too much fight/chase/whatever scenes with the enemies, this is the best way. However, I feel as if we see the enemies too often. Lloyd appears 3 times in very quick succession of his appearances and then he’s gone. You don’t even really get enough time to feel scared of a potential threat cause by the time you start to feel anxious he’s shown up and run away. With Molly she is played a bit better as she shows up multiple times at multiple points in the park so it seems she is stalking you specifically. Her chase scene was not bad but the set up they had where there’s only two ways to go made it feel (to me) as if this was obviously going to be a chase scene. Something i actually think would have made the chase more interesting would’ve been if Lloyd came in halfway through and cut off a path to go, or even crazier attacked Molly. Up until then the two have not interacted (to my knowledge) and they seem to behave more like animals than mascots, so if you had Lloyd just rip Molly’s head off would make it seem like these are animals that are feral and will attack anything. IDK, that’s just me, I am not saying it could be better if done “my” way, but I think it would be an interesting alternative.

Fantastic video! I really do hope the developer UniqueGeese sees this, it seems like quite a fair review with a bunch of creative ideas. Also, yes, you would be perfect as Salem's VA. And finally, someone else pointed out the third trampoline issue! I cannot tell you how many times I died to that (I don't typically play these types of games, and I was sick while playing the game in a call with some friends, so I wasn't probably concentrating as hard as I could've).

Gameplay-wise it's lacking imo, it falls into the common indie horror game pitfall of being a walking simulator with prescripted "scares" and corridor chase set-pieces, essentially a haunted house without the fear factor of actually being there. What classic FNAF got right was that the horror was systemic so getting jumpscared was a consequence of not being diligent enough in managing the game mechanics and the quick decision making therein (cameras, doors, animatronic ai) which just further kept players on edge As an example maybe UniqueGeese could take the audio lure from FNaF and combine it with first person stealth. Fleshing the idea out further: the audio lure could be arcade cabinets that can be activated but the player has to run away before the monster arrives, power to some cabinets could need to be restored before they can be used, the monster destroying barriers to get to the lured location could open up paths, and there's room to use it as a pseudo-puzzle mechanic too. That's just an example idea off the dome, the main point is it's a game mechanic that includes Indigo Park's horror element (the monsters) in the gameplay system, naturally creating non-scripted scares Edit: Better example idea! Mollie stalking the player could've been turned into a gameplay mechanic, in the playplace she could've started trying to creep up from wherever the player isn't looking but retreat away when spotted. It's really bare bones but at least it is one that works

Mollie does stalk the player but she doesn’t attack until the end and plus if you listen really close at Flinely’s part you could hear her, at Loyd’s part if you turn left, you’ll see her open up the curtain and look at her, at her own part, you could see her open up the door Edited: It was left, not behind you

@@danganryanne9499 I know that and like I said it's just a big bird hanging around in prescripted animations it's not scary especially when the medium's strengths aren't used to create tension That sort of stalking setup works in movies because they create tension by playing to the strengths of the movie medium, having meticulous control over pacing and what the camera is seeing, which games don't have The strength of horror games is interactivity which Unique Geese doesn't use, the only player choices really are only in the ending chase but even that is bare bones and lacks any actual tension build-up Of course if you personally found it scary then more power to you! Don't let other people not having the same experience get in the way of your own enjoyment

I love Indigo Park, definitely one of the best mascot horror games I’ve seen for a while. Yes, it has flaws, but that’s one thing that I love about the ending song. The devs are basically saying they WANT criticism so that they can improve.

Big cats are stalker predators, so a kind of “weeping angel” mechanic could work for the lion, where the longer you look away, the faster he goes, and if you maintain eye contact and back away, he slowly creeeps forward

Based on what the dev has said in relation to his surprise with all the shipping I doubt the beef between Lloyd and Rambley is a scorned lover sort of situation. Doesn't sound like there is any romance between any of the cast. Though I guess that could just be a misdirection tactic.

I also expect Molly to come back. Via some sort of ghost, cybernetics or cloning shenanigans. Potentially even later on, some sort of healing, repaired or purified version of her that actually helps or at least interacts with us. Rambly was just WAY~ to casual about decapitating his best friend. Especially with how much build-up she and them being friends got in Act 1.

Based on the ending I think the second chapter will have the dragon as the antagonist, I hope it will be ocean-themed and have flooded sections where you have to swim to achieve your objectives while avoiding being dragged underwater by the dragon (he remains mostly invisible but you may occasionally see part of him). And if there's an ending chase sequence, it has him briefly leave the water, revealing his full body.

I actually want to complement Unique on what you said as a con at the end. The fact the player doesn't seam eager to leave after the dangers of the park become apparent. If you think about it the character we play as, he has no reason to be worried until he enters the room before Rambly's Railroad line up. Ed is stopped from leaving by the random landslide in said room and before that point there's nothing too concerning. A still functional Rambly and the even the Isaac Indigo statue that turns its head to face you as you move would only bolster an urban explorer to go on. (Sidenote: UniqueGeese had said that if you listen carefully as Rambly explains the critter cuff and directs you to the gift shop, you can hear Molly repeat one of his lines. I haven't ever been able to hear it though.) Contrast that with the Playtime Co. factory: **See that Huggy is gone.** *Forget this stuff I'm out (~M-hm~) Forget this stuff I'm out (~No thanks~) I'm-a gunna just grab ma' pack 'n leave; 'excuse me please. Forget this stuff I'M OUT!* **Sad Huggy noises through forced smile** : ) Ed kind of has to keep moving forward to get out. Both because of the landslide that could have been written better and doors closing behind him. And to be frank, none of the mascots really establish themselves as a threat until the Lloyd pounces at us and the molly chase at the chapters end. They just silently watch up until that point.

Small critique of your second rapidfire con: I don't mind the main character not having voice acting. I'm a Nintendo fan. I'm used to largely silent protagonists. The idea is that it's not a character's experience. It's your experience, with no dialogue to pull you out of the experience of being the character. Alternatively, it serves to help you form your own interpretation of the main character. You can imagine what they're saying due to the convenience of them not saying it. They can't offend you or get on your nerves because the only actions they can take are the actions you perform in-game. All this to say: I don't find the lack of voice acting for the player character to be a con at all. It just comes down to personal preference.

I really want to see this game succeed! The obvious passion makes it so charming, especially in comparison to Banban and even Poppy. I can’t tell if Rambly is good or evil and it got me really invested, more invested than I have been in a mascot horror game in a while.

So fun fact about the plane in mollies warehouse it is a focke wulf 190 D-9 used by Germany in WW2 which at first I did think was an F4U but the cockpit identifies it as a German model(they used square cockpits usually with a larger seat area and not round smaller cockpits) the plane is also able to be jumped onto from one of the railings next to the upper platform which I thought was quite cool. Anyways just figured I'd share what type it was for the small amount of people who probably asked.

I think all of the music in this game is pretty stellar. I like the low-tone horn instruments in Salem’s theme in the arcade game, slightly reminiscent of a fart sound, but without being so overt as to ruin her villainous presence. It shows real promise that the dev understands subtlety and respects their characters.

Rambley alone is carrying this game, imo. His voice and charm is just 👌 I will genuinely fight God to protect him. Heck. I was mostly distracted by his... rambling... and pretty much was blind to the flaws of the game. But I'm genuinely looking forward to the next chapters. The fact that the first chapter was made in a little over a year is impressive. Judging by how the developer is going for the chapter format, he might do the same as BATIM and playtime: Next chapter resulting in improvements on previous chapter. And god damn the music for its opening was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

this almost EXACTLY how I felt when I watched someone play this game, and im glad a fair amount of people agree maybe this game pulls a bendy and revamps its early chapters later in its lifetime to put them up to speed and the (hopefully) greater quality later chapters will be this game oozes passion but still currently relies on rambleys writing, and that wont be enough to save it later on solid high 6/10 game

Yeah, the park isn't quite working as either a Disney-Tier park or as a smaller regional park (which I think is what the devs are going for), but other than that the game seems pretty solid, especially for a First Original Game. Easy fix for the landing pad would be to replace all the Safety Orange with green (for a jungle theme).

Indigo Park was such a pleasant surprise. I was like and "Oh great another generic mascot horror" when I first saw it and then I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the characters in a way I haven't since FNAF. I definitely agree with the Lloyd and Rambley are bitter exes theory though!! XD

Ok... minor thing but the developer does know that the "Bird Up" was just an accidental meme that Uhyeah made when Garten of Banban was at its peak in popularity, I can understand wanting to reference the meme but to have it on billboards of products that are used for the reference's vessel... that to me at least might just be a bit much. However, something that I feel like could help when it comes to at least redesigning Molly's area, since she's military themed instead of just using a few plane props here and there, why not go all out on the theme, instead of a warehouse like building have her area be designed to mimic that of a military base with an airstrip being the main body since Molly's a pilot, heck the play area could even be repurposed from a play area to that of a military museum and the developer can even use said area to flesh out the character, give them some lore, a backstory, etc.

And instead of failing and doing it worst, they manage to do it 20 times better than the other mascot horrors and manage to make characters that are seriously enjoyable and can feel like a real threat I jusy hope this game gets so much founding to make a great sequel

I feel like Indigo park needs to create few things that would separate it from other mascot horrors, cause, I have to say, it reminded me of Poppy Playtime a little too much. It doesn't have to be big, but something new, like this idea of the main character actually reacting to things! I don't think that's something any mascot horror is doing right now. Imagine if the main character would have a little animation of dropping the flashlight when scared, and having to quickly pick it up again, it would add so much charm :D

I feel like the main area "kinda boring" locations still mostly work, since it's the main road. I like the ideas you set forth for improving the theming of Mollie's area though! Otherwise, my only real disagreement with you is about the character not reacting enough (and even then it's not a complete disagreement). One of the things I really liked about Indigo Park so far was how the game doesn't often go into cutscene mode for character reactions or scares. When it happens for the Lloyd/Cuff scene it was much less irritating since it was kinda the only one. Not saying I wouldn't like a bit more character from the character, however; and I'll admit, I'm not sure how to balance those two goals. I just know as far as Mascot Horror goes, the big dogs lately (Poppy 3 and FNAF Ruin) have had a bit more characterization, but also a lot more of those "look at our scary thing" moments that become cutscenes where you don't control yourself. Which makes Indigo Park a lot more unique by just, using the environment and sound design try to get you looking in the right place for setpieces, and just being okay with you missing it if you aren't looking the right way.

I'm hopping this is gonna be close to a Bendy and The Ink Machine scenario, with how the chapters were updated. It started pretty decent and with a lot of charm already, and with the release of each new chapters, they would go back to fix and improve the later ones! Indigo Park is very fun, and some things like Rambley, the game's sense of humor and jogability shows it have a lot of potential, I hope they use it all!

From what I remember in the early videos from Uniquegeese, They took inspiration from the designs in Disney theme parks. Some quick service places on property are semi-shells, where they populate it with condiments/napkins and cutlery, but overall the design itself is rather plain. places closer to themed attractions will get the glitz and glamor of character designs in the buildings, but early locations don't get that much love. Like the spot with moldy food is based on the Starbucks on Main Street, which does feature little to no theming on the interior. For immersion in the theme park? It's definitely accurate to realism. In the whimsical sense? yeah definitely bare. He did a fantastic job on realism in park locations.

I was worried this video was going to be a bit harsh with the critique and be akin to the dreaded Theft King video, but this is actually really good constructive cristicism with clear respect for the effort and passion put into the game and understanding of circumstances!! And a bit of fresh air from the mass devoted praise (it deserves all the praise ofc but pointing out the flaws never hurts and helps improvement!)

Imo the part of the video about Lloyd and how he attacks you after disappearing behind stage would make sense for a lion, they're ambush predators and will stalk prey before attacking when the prey is mostly unaware. Having him barely attack is very on brand since these are actually monster animals plus the chapter is meant to focus entirely on Molly more. Lloyd's area is just a momentary fetch quest that doesn't waste our time in an area for too long unlike other certain mascot horror titles.

Honestly, I think the one and only gripe I have with the game is that the mascots aren't scary. Everything else I don't mind given that it's the developer's second game ever, but seeing the transition from his BanBan redesigns to the monster versions of Mollie and Lloyd leaves a lot to be desired. I don't mind the cutsey look (I'm in mascot horror for the designs, not the actual horror-- I have horror movies to go to for that), but I do think that they could use some improvement. Either lean one way or the other, but it's hard to have a mix of both cute and creepy without falling into the trap of just looking plain boring. But all that aside, I'm super excited to see how the series turns out! Indigo Park is truly a labor of love like the original FNaF games, which in the era of mascot horror where the most popular games come from some sort of company (Bendy, Poppy Playtime) or are made as shameless cashgrabs (BanBan and too many others to count), it's refreshing to see something a bit rough around the edges, but that really has some heart in it. It's refreshing, and just plain lovely.

Literally my ONLY critique is that the animatronics don't look scary, except for the bird in the play tube. I feel like the time passage could capture rotting, terrifying, disgusting animatronics REALLY well. Other than that I LOVE the game and I thought it was so fun and refreshing for mascot horror

That joke + the art sent my sides into smegging orbit, holy crap I'd say this is a really fair critique of the game, though a lot of it is obviously a symptom of the low budget. I'm still very impressed by how much the game feels like an abandoned amusement park regardless, though, and one that feels relatively realistic, compared to the _insane nonsense_ you see in games like Bendy, Poppy Playtime and Banban.

You’ve definitely got some good points about the aesthetic not always being adhered to, I suspect they’re not the strongest modelers YET, given some of the more complex models are existing assets (seen at the end of the credits), with the likely (and SMART) focus being the unique assets, like anything character-related. Going forward, I wouldn’t be surprised if they had more time and experience to up some of the areas’ aesthetics. I do GET the gameplay decisions for their first two creature encounters, given that introducing something complex this early without an active tutorial would probably be off putting. Your ideas are definitely interesting sounding, but I understand the decision to keep things simpler in their first chapter. Also ball pit physics sounds like a NIGHTMARE to code, and yet I also wish for it just as deeply.
