YES - As a convert, I didn't lose my right to say I'M A CHRISTIAN just because I became Catholic. I have many Catholic Christian friends and many have always been Catholic. I wouldn't be Catholic if Jesus were not 100% at the center of it all in the Catholic Church. He's the same Jesus that I have loved since my childhood. I was protestant for the first 50 years of my life. He was born of a virgin, shed his blood on the cross for the sins of the world, rose on the third day and sits at the right hand of the Father. He's the same yesterday, today and forever. Nothing anyone who says I'm not Christian because I'm a Catholic can change that or steal my joy in knowing Christ as my Savior. I love being a Catholic Christian. I could go on, but I'll stop for now :-)

I like what you say, but do you believe it? You correctly said that Jesus is now seated at the right hand of the Father. That means he has rested from his work. He is no longer sacrificing on any alter. The Bible says there is no more sacrifice for sin. Do you believe this? Think about it at Mass tomorrow. What is the " sacrifice at the priest's hands"? What are you trusting in?

Jerome Popiel I thought that I was clear that I follow Christ and that he’s my savior. Putting the Catholic view of Salvation to the side for a monument, the understanding of Salvation among believers is different within Protestant Denominations ( or non-Catholics or non-denominations ) and you would “not agree” with many of those views. So I’m not getting into a Q&A back and forth with you on KZbin comments on this video link. I’ve been clear that Christ is my Savior. Like the song says: "I got a sweet salvation and it's beautiful I've got a heart overflowing 'cause I've been restored There ain't nothing gonna steal my joy No, there ain't nothing gonna steal my joy" Peace be with you!

Jerome Popiel please read Book of John 20:24-29. Ponder about it, why the resurrected Jesus appeared next to doubting Thomas as an ordinary human form together with his crucified wounds ? Why Jesus don’t appeared to the disciples in the way that he is sitting at the right hand of the father and parting so far high up in heaven ?

That judgmental phariseeism towards people "not exactly like us" you talked about is one major reason I'm leaving the Church of Christ for the Catholic Church. I remember decades of thinking, when thinking about Christian history, how 99.9% of "Christians" for over 1400 years were probably lost "because they were Catholics, steeped in false doctrines. It's a Narrow Road, after all." It bothered me, but I accepted it because it fit with our very legalistic view of the Bible. In hindsight: what a puny God I envisioned! Our God is an awesome God, and He's mighty to save! Thank God those days are now over. Come RCIA, you can't get here soon enough!

during my childhood, I was called a papist and could not understand who they were speaking about when they called me this. I was also told by a protestant congregation to leave my duties of babysitting their children at a day care center there so they could go to service in peace that I was a Mary worshiper. I never heard that phrase either. My dad would go to the church since he was a protestant and I would go to early mass and help the pastor in the church so his wife could go to service. I was kicked out of a church I never went to since I was one of those evil ones. I learn a long time ago, that I am a Christian because I am a follower of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I would die for HIM if I had to do that as well. I learn to always have faith in the Most Holy Trinity over having faith in governments since HIS WILL is more for my good and shows HIS LOVE for us. while mankind is seems more and more are out for themselves and obtaining wealth and power for themselves. I also learn a lesson from my mom. do not listen to people's words but watch their actions. that speaks louder than their words even when they scream. if these two do not match, question them

@@DeusEstPrimus - As you most likely know, the Council of Nicaea in 325 was the response of the Church to the heresy of Arius who was preaching Jesus was no God, correct? Well, before the council it was common knowledge that the Blessed Virgin Mary was the Mother of my Lord; the very same teaching is held today. Just to name a couple of names: Irenaeus in 189 A. D. wrote “The Virgin Mary, being obedient to his word, received from an angel the glad tidings that she would bear God” (Against Heresies, 5:19:1) Gregory the wonderworker in 262 A. D. “For Luke, in the inspired Gospel narratives, delivers a testimony not to Joseph only, but also to Mary, the Mother of God, and gives this account with reference to the very family and house of David” (Four Homilies 1). Will you recant?
@Boxed4Y
@Boxed4Y 4 жыл бұрын
@@DeusEstPrimus - Actually, Arian did not believe Mary was the Mother of God, and he was convincing a lot of people of his teaching, thus the need for the council. The reason most Christians believe Mary is the Theotokos is because the Church fought this heresy (and many others). Instead of attacking, how about thanking the Catholic Church for defending and what you have come to believe?
@Boxed4Y
@Boxed4Y 4 жыл бұрын
@@DeusEstPrimus - You seem to be a smart person and very capable of establishing a conversation without being judgemental. The reason I named Arian was because you brought up the topic of the Council of Nicaea in 325; such council was the response of the Church against Arian's heretic teaching that Jesus was not God. There was no need to safeguard other doctrines at that time; no need to defend, for instance, Papal Infallibility or other doctrines (you may reject) simply because there it was not necessary. I can deduce you have a problem with the Perpetual Virginity of Mary (a Mariam Dogma). Below are some extracts of what some of the "Early Fathers" said about the topic, taken from Behold your Mother by Tim Staple: St. Clement of Alexandria (ca. A.D. 200) - It appears that even today many hold that Mary, after the birth of her son, was found to be in the state of a woman who has given birth, while in fact, she was not so. St. Ephrem the Syrian (ca. 350) - Who loves you is amazed and who would understand is silent and confused, because he cannot probe the mother who gave birth in her virginity. If it is too great to be clarified with words the disputants ought not on that account cross swords with your Son. St. Ambrose of Milan (ca. 390) - Who is this gate, if not Mary [referring to Ezekiel 44: 1- 2]? Is it not closed because she is a virgin? Mary is the gate through which Christ entered this world, when he was brought forth in the virginal birth and the manner of his birth did not break the seals of virginity. . . . There is a gate of the womb, although it is not always closed; indeed only one passes through it miraculously. St. Jerome (ca. 383) - And could the just man dare . . . to think of approaching her, when he heard that the Son of God was in her womb . . . We are to believe then that the same man who gave so much credit to a dream that he did not dare to touch his wife, yet afterwards, when St. Jerome (ca. 400) - Do you want to know how he was born of a virgin and how, after his birth, his mother remained a virgin? The doors were locked, yet Jesus entered. There is no doubt that the doors were locked. He who entered through the locked doors was not a phantom or a ghost but a true body. For what did he say? “Look at me and see that a ghost does not have flesh and bones as I do” (Luke. 24: 39).

I would be remiss if I said that we couldn't learn something from Protestantism. I am Catholic and was in a FOCUS bible study yesterday and my Catholic Theology major -leader said that we as Catholics do not read the bible enough. Make no mistake, we as Catholics read the bible, but we don't spend as much time as we should on it. The bible is the word of God and can be a great reference for helping to answer complex theological questions, but we cannot rely on Sola Scriptura or have an absolute/word-word reading of it, because that would be an intellectually astray. We have the ability to reason and that is one of the greatest gifts we possess as humans and I thank God for that. We should read the bible more, but read it and everything we encounter with REASON.

I live in New Zealand where there is generally a good relationship between Catholics and non Catholics. Wow, unbelievable how some will start casting stones without checking facts. Evangelicals are not less charitable or caring. Then even the very foundation of America is put down. The first settlers came here for religious freedom and economic freedom. The were escaping religious and economic tyranny in which the Catholic Church played a part. They brought a Protestant work ethic and freedom of worship that made America great. Our freedoms and laws are based on the Bible, not on man. That is the one reason they are inalienable. Evangelicals believe that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, to the Jew first and then to the Greek Rm.1:16. That is not religion.

If the catholic church started during the bible, who added all the well known non biblical pagan doctrine to a ONCE true faith? You know what those things are, I don't need to restate them. Many of those aftermarket add-ons came about after the Church of Rome took over as head of what was then christianity. Much of the pagan derived add-ons came from Rome.

So if all the doctrines and dogmas were adopted with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, those who say it's not true are then calling Jesus a liar for sending us a lying spirit (demon) or if He sent us the Holy spirit and It lied to us! My final concern regarding Catholicism is not about Catholicism as much as some effects of complexity on Catholics' practices. Complexification is a strategy of Satan. St. Paul went to the oh-so-sophisticated and cosmopolitan Corinthians and declared to them "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified" (1 Cor. 2: 2). He did so because they were smart, intricately familiar with sophistic wisdom culture around them, and were creating rich understandings that they were holding to, developed out of their own Christian wisdom. It was leading them away from spiritual effectiveness and required apostolic correction. This process doesn't necessarily lead that way, richness and wisdom doesn't have to "puff up." But, it often does because we're human. So, for some Catholics the critiques absolutely land with accuracy. Protestants shouldn't treat it as a blanket judgment for all Catholics. But the ecclesiastically sourced practices and doctrines are complexification. Therefore, there should be exhortation and warning from priests regarding their relationships with Christ within their rich, complicated, historic faith of Catholicism.

It appears that this pastor has abandoned the authority of the Word of God and deconstructed Scripture to fit his paradigm of what Christianity is. The Roman Catholic religion has a huge number of beliefs and having unpacked its Catechism, not one of those numbered items is replicated in the NT. Two salient examples of this are number 1987 where it is taught that the Holy Spirit justifies and cleanses sinners from sin via baptism. Jesus and John the Baptist clearly stated in Acts chapter 1 and John chapter 1 that water baptism does not save sinners. Only the baptism of the Spirit that Jesus brings saves sinners and Hebrews 9:22 teaches that there is no remission for sin without the shedding of blood. It is Jesus' ONCE only blood sacrifice that paid the debt for sin. Then there is all that information about the Roman Catholic Mary in the Catechism. None of that is written in the NT either! Here is one example. 969 "This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation. . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix." The Roman Catholic Mary has been given deific attributes beloning only to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Only Jesus is Advocate and Mediator between God and men. The Holy Spirit is Advocate and Helper. So to give a sinner whose only role given to her by God is to carry His Son in her womb, the attributes belonging to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is blasphemy. It appears that the Great Falling Away is happening and here is one example of a pastor teaching false information not supported by the Scriptures.

He went to the high priest [2]and asked for letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, that would authorise him to arrest and take to Jerusalem any followers of the Way, men or women, that he might find. [3]It happened that while he was travelling to Damascus and approaching the city, suddenly a light from heaven shone all round him. [4]He fell to the ground, and then he heard a voice saying, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?' [5]'Who are you, Lord?' he asked, and the answer came, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. Catholics honor Mary above all women, just as scripture says “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:41-44‬ ‭NABRE‬‬ And [MARY]”For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:48‬ ‭NABRE‬‬ Didn’t Mary also obey the Word of God as well? “Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:38‬ ‭NABRE‬‬ “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:45‬ ‭NABRE‬‬ “He [JESUS] replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭NABRE‬‬ Mary is not higher than God. The answer to the question depends on what one means by the word "Christians". "Christian" often seems, in Evangelical or Fundamentalist circles, to mean "Evangelical Protestant, especially one who has had a conversion experience". A Christian of that type is often called a "True Christian" - as distinct from members of "dead churches"''; IOW, those that do not (yet) accept the Fundamentalist Gospel. Outside Evangelicalism & Fundamentalism, anyone counts as a Christian who has some kind of connection to mainstream Christianity, which consists of five main strands: the non-Chalcedonian Eastern Churches; the Eastern and Russian Orthodox; the Churches in communion with the Pope of Rome; the Protestant Churches; and a great number of independent churches of very varied character. To confuse matters, it seems that many Evangelicals with Protestant theologies prefer to be called "Christians" rather than "Protestants". This is confusing, because it is not clear whether this preference is to be understood as meaning that: 1. They, alone, are Christians; or whether they mean that 2. They are Protestants, if one must think in those terms - but they would rather that the emphasis was on Christ, than on Church divisions. Lutherans, Anglicans, and Catholics have their disagreements - but they do not, on the whole, deny each other's identity as Christians. Since the Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow, and the Pope of Rome, and the Coptic Pope of Alexandria, are not Evangelical Protestants, nor Protestants at all, they would all, by some standards, count as "not Christians". "Is group so-and-so Christian ?" It can depend on whom one asks: official doctrine, and the convictions of the individual, do not always match. The use of the term "Christian" as a term of praise meaning no more than "admirable person", muddies the waters, and is best ignored. The problem with the word is, that it can be taken in a minimalist or a maximalist sense. From a Catholic POV, a baptised but lapsed Catholic of atrocious morals would count as a Christian, if only in the most tenuous sense, because by Baptism he would become, indissolubly, a member of the Church. A Catholic who decides to become a devil-worshipper is therefore still a member of the Church. From an Evangelical POV, that way of thinking would be quite wrong. People would count as Christians, only if there were some evidence of the working of God's grace in their lives. No personal conversion to Christ = no identity as a Christian. Both forms of Christanity are concerned with authentic Christian life - but they emphasise different aspects of life in Christ.

Unity. The Apostles "were continually devoting themselves with one [mind to prayer, along with women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers" (1.14) Catholicity AKA Universality: Acts 4.12 "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.” Since there is salvation only in the Name of Jesus, the salvation found in Him alone must be intended for all mankind. This is supported by the Great Commission of St Matthew 28.18-20: ""And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you [fn]always, even to the end of the age."" The disciples, who are of one mind, are sent by the One Christ, in Whose Name alone there is salvation, to all nations. Therefore, there can be only One Church of the followers of Christ in all the nations of the Earth. IOW, the Church of Christ is Universal - or, in Greek, it is Catholic. Apostolicity: This One, Universal Church is the Church of the Apostles whom Christ Himself called, chose, sent, and equipped - it is therefore Apostolic.

Saturday, March 14, 2020: Gospel according to Saint Luke 15.1-3.11-32. 0 min. Aug All the publicans and sinners came to Jesus to hear him. The Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them." Jesus then told them this parable: Jesus also said: "A man had two sons." A man had two sons. The youngest of them said to his father: 'Father, give me my share of inheritance.' And he divided unto them his goods. A few days later, the youngest son collected everything he had and went to a distant country, where he squandered his assets in a licentious life. He had already spent everything, when a lot of misery ensued in that country, and he began to suffer deprivation. Then he put himself at the service of one of the inhabitants of that region, who sent him to his field to take care of pigs. He would have liked to calm his hunger with the acorns that the pigs ate, but nobody gave them. Then he thought about it and said: 'How many of my father's day laborers have bread in abundance, and I am here starving! Right now I will go to my father's house and tell him: Father, I sinned against Heaven and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your son, treat me like one of your day laborers. ' So he left and returned to his father's house. When he was still away, his father saw him and was deeply moved; she ran to meet him, hugged him and kissed him. The young man said to him: 'Father, I sinned against Heaven and against you; I don't deserve to be called your son. ' But the father said to his servants: 'Bring at once the best clothes and dress him, put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's eat and celebrate, because my son was dead and has come back to life, he was lost and was found. ' And the party began. The older son was on the field. When he returned, already near the house, he heard the music and the choirs that accompanied the dance. And calling one of the servants, he asked what that meant. He replied: 'Your brother has returned, and your father had the fattened calf killed, because he has recovered it safely.' He was angry and did not want to enter. His father came out to beg him to come in, but he replied: 'I have served you for so many years without ever disobeying a single one of your orders, and you never gave me a kid to throw a party with my friends. And now that that son of yours has returned, after you have spent your possessions with women, you have the fattened calf killed for him! ' But the father said to him: 'My son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It is only fair that there be celebration and joy, because your brother was dead and has returned to life, he was lost and has been found. '"

You are dead wrong to state that RCC and E.O. are the "original faith of the disciples/apostles." Your "fact" here has just destroyed your credibility. The so-called "early church" was actually the early [local] churchES, plural. That is a fact. Each church was accountable independently to Christ as evidenced by Christ's guidance & chastisement toward the local Asia Minor churches in Revelation 2-3. Yes, they did have the Jerusalem believers - led by a non-apostle, James, by the way - that passed down guidance to the early new church-plants. But once the churches were established in maturity, they were on their own - to be lead supernaturally by the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, not [naturally] any Pope. That is why the Lord only established TWO church offices - elder and deacon. No others. I know "elder" has been translated as "bishop," but the original meaning referred most definitely to a local pastor/church-leader. There was no hierarchical structure beyond those 2 offices spoken of in Scripture (which the Catholics don't follow anyway [ultimately] because the Pope can override whatever he pleases). Jesus had stated in no uncertain terms in Revelation 2:6 and 2:15 how He hated the Nicolaitanes. Who were the "Nicolaitanes?" Well, if you translate--even transliterate somewhat--this term, you get, "Rulers over the laity." ...Nico = ruler... laitaines = laity... Jesus HATED the practice of having "rulers" over the laity. A pastor/elder/bishop was intended to be just one of the members of a particular local church--albeit a spiritually mature member, but a member just the same. He was most definitely NOT to be a "ruler." What is the RCC...? They are all about "rulers" over the laity. Christ hates that. Get out of Mystery Babylon the Great while you can...like I did when I got saved in college.

Keith Nester please watch a tv program called 'Catholic Answers'. There you will know what you want to know about Catholics Beliefs. A lot of people are envious about Catholics because they are so many (over 1 billion believers). If they were only few hundreds, who will even make negative comments about them?

The apostles belonged to what was known as “The Way”. Ref Book of Acts (Acts 9:2; 19:9, 24:14. They were from the tribes of Israel and were not Christians. As Paul identifies himself in Philippians 3:5 “...of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of all Hebrews... The Covenant was cut with the Children of Israel and as believers in Yahushua (Jesus) we are grafted into Israel of (the Olive Tree). Ref The book of Romans. In fact Philippians 3:20 tells us we are citizens of heaven. Something to consider.

John was the one who called himself a Christian because if you paid attention you know that John said Jesus ABIDES IN the Father and the Father in Him and Them in us. -ian means pertaining to or abiding in...and so John meant he abides in Christ. "Christian" I am Catholic 100%

Ok. Who gets to say I'm not saved? I do. On what authority? On account that don't adhere to verse..... the whole New Testament. "This man is hereby exonerated of the crime of Christianity on account that there is no physical evidence. Bailiff!" "Yes Your Honour?" "Release Heathen Hellbound, he is free to go!" Fear & trembling? No, honesty & accountability. Believe in my heart Jesus is the Son of God and that God raised Him from the dead, yes I do, but so far, I'm the tree that bears no fruit. Jesus Himself said, "You can tell a tree by its fruit." I know what sort of tree I am because I know what I dream. I can not speak of the things I do to people in the unconscious world where I am god. That's the reality I live with. Do I disagree with the denomination where I reside (Salvation Army) yes. In my induction I expressed my disagreement with denomination and that they seldom do 'the ordinance' of the Lord's supper. I stay because I attend Celebrate Recovery, help with welcoming team, and collect bread for redistribution. Its a small congregation severely pushed for resource. Every day I battle my flesh and lose, I'm riddled with pride, lies roll off my tongue like the saliva that moves in my mouth all day long, I am a vile creature obsessed with introspection, like a backhole folding in on itself over & over again. What do I do with it Keith, what do I do with all this sin & death? I've been searching for home, I can't find the way, because I think I search for the Jesus I've constructed in my head, and my head hurts bro, it hurts.

One question, why cant priests have a wife ?
@rosedonaldson942
@rosedonaldson942 4 жыл бұрын
Jesus said it is better to not be married in their service to the priesthood. Being a pastor takes all of you. So if you are torn between family and serving God. Who takes a back seat. God does not want us to be torn. He wants us 100% in to his calling for each of us. If a person is called, he need to marry is calling. Therefore we are him family.
