This is the BEST instructional video on creating wire loops! I made a lot of bead bracelets back in the 80's and was quite good at it, but then stopped and didn't touch them for 30+ years. I was taught to wrap using a wooden board with a nail sticking out of it .. we wrapped onto the nail instead of using the round nose pliers. It may sound a bit odd, but my loops were all that same size and perfectly centered! :) Now I've lost my "touch" on that board and have been watching countless videos trying to learn using the pliers. Your instructions are excellent! Thank you!!

These are cute, I love Tierra cast component's. I think the closest you'll find to the super fine flush cutters you have kellie is the brand Tronex, they are pretty dear but it's a once off payment for a long-term fantastic quality tool, I'm currently saving for them & the Zuron brand fine tipped chain nose and flat nose pliers.

Ok, i bought some more wire and flush cutters at The craft store. I have a ton of wire and good tools in a box somewhere, but we had hoped to move and were not able to. I guess they are in storage 10 hours from here. I never was able to get started! So... in the meantime, i have been watching tubes. They talk about doing stuff to the wire. Something about heating it. Wherever the tools are, i have teflon things to straighten. They have different terms for the wire on some tubes that i do not understand. I bought coated and aluminum, copper, silver, etc, but most is unlabeled. I remember i did not know the sizes of some! It was labeled at the store but not on the package. I bought aluminum this time and did not realize it! It looked antique 18 &20 G. I wrote the size on the package and taped it so it doesn't rub off . But it is hard to use, i think. I tried to make it less bendie by straightening, but then as i wrapped, it broke! 😄 oneside wrapped pretty good on the next try, but the second wrap on the other side of the bead was not so smooth...a bit bunchie. I guess i am wondering if practice and using another kind of wire will help? Am i too clumsy? I have arthritis, but it is not too bad. The tools i did find help. They are small, though. I am looking for a good magnifier, too. Now i know i need a larger one. I am so excited to do this. Even the screw ups look pretty to me. I am using some pearls...fake, but a lovely slightly blue color. Thank you for this video and any advice.
@KelliesBeadBoutique2 жыл бұрын
Without actually seeing the wire it’s hard to give advice. Just keep playing with what you have and your tools and you will learn to understand how it all works. Keep having fun with it!

How funny, I’ve been watching the easy earring playlist and was going to leave a comment somewhere to ask about wrapped loops, and it just so happens you made this video this month. Here’s the part where I’m having trouble: after I’ve turned the round nose pliers and go to pull the tail straight back, the wire always starts slipping along the pliers no matter how firm of a grip I have, resulting in a distorted loop. How are you getting it to sit still? (The part I’m describing is at 6:11 in the video). Also, are there any headpins you’d recommend for wrapping? It’s one thing to do the wrap using a nice piece of wire that’s been cut to whatever length, but I use headpins in a lot of my earrings and I find the wrapping extremely difficult. Sometimes they even break.
@KelliesBeadBoutique3 жыл бұрын
It can often be the quality of the pliers. Are yours good ones? Also, with the headpins it all depends on the wire they use to make them. I really like the balled ends ones I sell. They are nice and flexible and really great quality.

Hi Kellie - thank you for this tutorial about the wrapped loops. Do you have any particular recommendation for making wrapped loops with head pins? I don't know if it's just me, but wrapped loops just seem easier to make when using regular wire (copper or plated copper), especially when more wire is left over to grab on to for wrapping. However, head pins just seem to require a bit more work. The ones I've worked with so far are plated brass or steel - I've made them successfully, but they just seemed a bit stubborn. Thanks again!
@KelliesBeadBoutique3 жыл бұрын
I use the same technique but I rely on my bent chain nose pliers to maneuver the wire in to place. Headpins are notorious for being tough to work with. The ones I carry that have the ball on the end are nice and soft and they are my favorite.

Because you can turn them sideways which makes it easier than trying to do it with 2 pairs of straight pliers.
