Everyone on the Discovery show is so disagreeable its ridiculous. Can they all stop having stupid arguments over everything please? I think the show seems too hard to believe that humans would be so disagreeable as that. Many of Burnham's friends from her previous ship completely ignored her when she came on board Discovery. I just don't think I'd abandon my friends like that. Then in the latest episode there is a scene where Stamets is getting so angry at Tilly because she said he called her Captain when he did say that and who would get into an argument on something as ridiculous as whether you called someone Captain or not? I think The Orville seems to be a very realistic show where human behaviour is protrayed in a realistic way, a lot more realistic than the previous Star Trek shows and thats a lot to do with the humour which very much seems to fit into the show and make the human interactions more realistic because people tell jokes all the time and aren't completely serious.

So far as her former friends are concerned Burnham was a mutineer that helped start a war they might not live through and got their captain killed, tends to burn a lot of bridges. Stamets is having a mental breakdown caused by use of the spore drive which is why he flew off the handle, and why Tilly was staring at him like "WTF?"

She did sing it well, but I found it odd that a 20th century song would still be popular in the 25th century. That would be like having a party today where you get together with your friends and sing a song from the 17th century. Most wouldn't recognize it, and even those who did would find it odd.

I can see what you mean but that's assuming songs from the 17th century are obsolete and nobody listens to them today anymore. There are plenty of radio stations playing classical music and old songs passed down from one generation to another that are deeply imbedded in culture. And if you think about it, we'll we have another Mozart, Sebastian Bach, Michael Jackson or Beatles in the next 500 years? Will electric guitars and drums become useless in the future? I think that's hard to know. Some songs, instruments and genres are just unique on their own and manage to survive trough time because they are often rediscovered by future generations that are not satisfied with the mainstream music of their time. I think the same applies with books and movies. In this case we have an old rock song from Journey reinvented in the show with the performance of a female singer. I found it terrific.

It's as if that time period is considered the greatest time ever for human pop culture and nothing culturally important happened over the next 400 years.
