She says that trans women who have beards shouldn't be allowed in the women's bathroom. To some extent, I agree. But sometimes it's the only option if there are no gender neutral bathrooms. It would be pretty unsafe to go into the women's bathroom with a beard, but it would also be dangerous to go into the men's room with a full face of makeup. So, what do you do? You probably go into the bathroom that matches your gender identity, because both options are unsafe. She also stands with people who say that we should go to the bathroom that correlates to our sex. So should I, as a trans man go into the women's bathroom? I pass pretty well and have made women uncomfortable when I go in. What about when I go on T one day and undeniably look like a man?
@prageruwu698 ай бұрын

@wylierichardson-tu6zs8 ай бұрын
Why would a 'trans' person be unsafe in that scenario? If the 'wearing make-up' part would make him / her feel unsafe in a men's room, then the solution is obvious - just remove the make-up before entering the mens room. S/he can then reapply it once leaving it.

@@wylierichardson-tu6zs yeah, lets just never dare to have a biological necessity whilst existing in public unless we happen to have our anti-hate crime buddy guard with us smh just use the bathroom of whatever gender you think you most present as at the time. Any well passing trans femme is *not* gonna feel safe in a mens restroom and any trans man post T with a beard is rightfully not gonna feel right in the womens. There's literally been brutal mob assaults on trans men that listened to the demand they go into the womens restroom, after people saw it and went into an irrational rage. As for bearded transfemmes and androgynous nonbinaries, well that's where we need more gender neutral bathrooms around. But as long as the bathroom is gendered, the safest bet will always be that people go into the one they look like they most belong in and any demands otherwise social or legal is only ever going to endanger people.

An example I can give is I heard a lesbian woman being talked about like "She can't just be around my daughter in a locker room, since she's lesbian therefore she's a boy." The same with gender non-conforming people, like people debating whether or not a girl who shaved her head is still a girl or not. All the things I can think of right now in English is how less masculine men would be called girls, debating whether or not being in a straight relationship with a trans person is gay, but I'm certain I saw English speaking people on the earlier internet using things like calling a gay man a girl as a derogatory term or calling less feminine lesbians things like "basically men if you think about it".

Everything is a spectrum. Nothing really fits in our neat little boxes. And finding sic (which is scientific gender label to make us understand the spectrum of genders that exists) is stupid. As humans we like labels and boxes to help us understand things. But in the end life and human existence is much more complicated.
@wylierichardson-tu6zs8 ай бұрын
Yes, life is complicated. And labels often help make life easier to navigate. When I go to my local health club, labeling myself as a man guides me to know which locker room to pick, as they are also 'labeled'. There is one prominent example.

I have a new perspective that gender dysphoria is a death sentence to some like myself. I need srs surgery and I went to see someone for advice and ask me about my sexuality and they advise on another surgery that could decrease dysphoria just because I’m asexual. I got so upset because it’s not what I want and I need srs surgery to feel complete. Unfortunately what I have experienced is it is about sexuality and people just don’t get it when someone say it’s not about sexuality, but to feel complete.

I don’t understand the hatred towards the word “cis.” It seems so transparent to me. I’m not transgender. The antonym of trans is cis. Therefore I’m cisgender. I don’t stop being a man when I identify as a cis man. I’m just saying that I’m not a trans man. Calling me cis is no more oppressive than calling me a man. All labels that I have were created by society. Nobody said I had to go through and approve each and every one. I probably have labels that I fit by definition that I don’t even know about. The first time I heard the term cis and its description, it was immediately obvious how useful it would be. I was also familiar with the prefixes because I knew about cislunar and translunar orbits from space exploration. I certainly wouldn’t insist on calling someone cis if they personally object to the term. Even if I think they’re being ridiculous. I certainly can’t comprehend how using inclusive language is somehow hostile.

There's nothing wrong with caring a lot about passing, but you're putting a lot of pressure on yourself and we just want you to know that no matter what you do you're a woman and it's okay" "you deserve support no matter what kind of trans person you are, including the trans person you are right now" and if she believed it she'd probably be a happier person. Most spaces of trans people are so kind and supportive, I don't get why transmeds choose that side of the trans community. They could be so much less miserable if they were more accepting of themselves and others
