Looks like her dad but must have her mum's personality. I love Kenny but gregarious and engaging he is not. That is a voice she has worked on though ( and fair play to her for it ). I grew up in a house in Southport as a Scottish transplant ( moved down in 1970 at six ). I spoke pure Glaswegian until I left home at 18. My sister maintained her accent. My little brothers switched to a local accent in months. She has a very pleasant and quite neutral speaking voice with a lot of BBC Modern in it. That didn't happen in a Scottish household on the Merseyside/Lancashire border. It's a sign of her professionalism. ( I just realized that people might not know that Kenny moved to Southport in 1977 and has never left ).

Kelly's voice is why people love listening to her. She also understands football which greatly matters and she's not uptight which makes her seem real. That she's King Kenny's daughter is the icing on the cake for a Liverpool supporter like me! I really saw how great she is when she did Carra's mea culpa over the spitting incident. She really handled that well and probably helped to save Jamie's career which I am also glad about.

There is unquestionably a culture of box ticking in the media and some dreadful pundits thrust on us in recent years in the football world, some of the female quota I genuinely find unlistenable and their actual delivery is grating...then we have Kelly, she is top class and first and foremost she is extremely knowledgeable, professional, very good on the ear and a damned good presenter, I’ve never met her but I think she would be great company and someone I’d certainly enjoy spending time with

A very good interview. Kelly speaks a lot of common sense, is understated yet enthusiastic and is very easy to listen to. I am a Liverpool fan but Kelly's popularity is down to her personality and range of skills and not to any team affiliation. I hope she succeeds Gary Lineker (and Des Lynam) at Match of The Day.

I remember talking to Kelly, whilst working at Edgbaston Cricket Ground (Birmingham) Where I was posted on the ground, Kelly came to an exit gate and I opened it for her and told her dad Sir King Kenny was a legend and love him. Love listening to Kelly on talk sport.

I met Kelly in Taksim Square in Istanbul after the game in 2005. It was about 5am, I was waiting for my friends to get back into town from the stadium, and she was looking for people to interview on Sky Sports at 8am. I agreed to be interviewed, but alas alcohol and shenanigans got in the way so I wasn't where I'd promised to be for the interview and missed my chance to be famous... Such a lovely lady, and her attitude of 'my dad played football' sums her up really well. To Liverpool fans he's one of our all time heroes. To her he's just 'dad'.

Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman are the two best hosts on Radio 5 live sports - both have their own styles, but the one thing they share in common, is they have a calming affect on both the pundits and the audience. Darren Fletcher is excellent as well - and is the best football commentator. They are the funniest hosts too. Most of the pundits are pretty good. There are one or two are so-so. A few with over-inflated ego's, as you would expect i guess
