@@marciasrivastava4861 Yes, seriously. If he'd stopped or just kept going she wouldn't have been able to continue and not everyone has the ability and / or empathy to play around someone when they don't know if they will or won't be able to continue and nonetheless give them the support to let them have the moment and still complete the song, coming out strong from a moment of weakness. I'm sure she appreciated it.

So the “pop” version of this song was the one that the label wanted to be released cuz they thought it would do better. After this aired, people were demanding for this version to be on iTunes, and when it did get put on there, it out sold the “pop” version by a lot.

My daughter dedicated this to me a couple of years ago. Her biological mother walked out on her and her three younger siblings when they were young. When their father and I got together, I made a promise to them that I wouldn't walk out on them. Eleven years later, I'm still here and in August, we'll be welcoming our fourth grandbaby.

That's definitely amazing, my mother and father left me at 18 months old, my maternal grandparents raised me until I was 7 then my father and his wife, fought for custody, and since he was my "father, they gave them custody, then when I was 12 he sold his parental rights to my grandparents..after 5 years of hell and I finally made it back home to my mama and daddy💜

This breaks my heart every time I hear it because I had a Dad who sacrificed EVERYTHING for his children. He sired 18 of us and gave us all the love and attention one man could possibly give to so many. Not only did he have time for all of us, he also played the Dad to neighborhood kids who didn't have one themselves, he always included them in our outings. I will never know Kelly's kind of pain but I do know the pain of losing a Dad since mine passed in 2000.

God why do I continue to listen to this song!!! 😭😭😭😭 I can relate WAY TO HARD to this. My father was never there for me, the bottle was always more important. Then my mom got married to this WONDERFUL man, my true dad, who loved me and my siblings and cousins who's fathers were never there for them either. He passed away 5 years ago and it still breaks my heart. We didn't always get along, we fought and yelled at each other sometimes but I always knew he loved me. I was afraid of my father, afraid to even talk back to him. A child should not fear their father. Or wonder why they were never enough.

I feel this song to the core. My father walked away at about 4-5 yrs old. When I was grown, married and had my first son, he knocked on my door asking to see his grandson. My mother remarried when I was 12 to the man I call Dad. He showed me that a father could not only stay, but be GREAT!!! I told my biological father that my son's grandpa was at home with grandma, I don't know where your grandson is but he is not here!!!! I know, TMI, but I truly feel this song deep in my soul.

This song resonates with me in a different way. My daughter's father walked away from her when she was 9 months old and didnt see her again until she was almost 5. His choice. He expected everything to be all good and didnt understand why our daughter was so standoffish with him when he came back. To this day......she is now 14 they do not have the best relationship but he is trying to be better.

First time watching your videos. First thought, you are the definition of a true man. You said you would never ever have the thought of leaving your child. You would always be there for her. OMG stunned that you played this version. I didn't watch it as it happened, but made me cry; the words and emotion on this version killed me. The only other song about a father/daughter relationship that hit me like this one was when I went to see Phantom Of The Opera, it was fine then Wishing You Were Somehow Here With Me started and in the dark of the theater all I could do was cry. The father daughter relationship is beyond words. My dad taught his girls to play and love sports as well as taking us to the theater; he was everything a father was supposed to be.

That is such a deeply touching and emotional song. She can truly make u feel everything she is. I was so touched seeing Keith Urban crying as he listened. Being abandoned stays with you forever, it wound that never ever fully heals. I completely understand your reasoning for not drinking or smoking, I grew up in an alcoholic household. And you do grow up making excuses for alot of things and hiding alot from people.

Thank YOU, for being such a good man! I especially was moved, when you said, that you wanted. your daughter, “from the stick”! That, was a powerful statement! I actually pictured your face, upon hearing, the results! YOU, are a “real” man! As someone who was given up at birth and then adopted by extremely abusive, adoptive parents; I can tell you that it impacts your entire life! Even now at 70, every time I hear an emotional song like this and hear Kelly’s story, it breaks me! I can’t even watch a movie where kids have a loving mother and father. When the patent/s, hug and love their child, I lose it. I lose it because I never had it. And do you know, that there are people who spot your vulnerabilities and use them, to use you? A therapist once told me that my so called mother(THE MONSTER), gave me one big gift. Perseverance. And do you know what? It is true! I am a survivor! I am (most of the time) a very strong woman. I adopted two children and they were loved and were told everyday and every night, at bedtime, how much I loved them! Both, are happily married with children and are very good parents. I may live with my scars but my children don’t. The cycle does not have to continue.

Such a touching song. If someone doesn't get emotional watching this video or listening to this song, something is definitely wrong with them. Thanks for sharing.

I'm so lucky, my dad's my hero and I'm so blessed to see him become my son's hero too. Any time my little boy needs someone to talk to and feels like he can't talk to me (I get it, I'm Mom and kind of emotional) he asks to call Papa. I know my dad is a great male role model so I'm so glad my son has him to talk to. My daughter loves him too but still prefers to come to me for talks.
