Mals and DS make absolutely horrible pets unless you truly know the breed. Active lifestyle is a relative term and 99% of the time not nearly enough. Kelly was right, they need to work, not physically or activity, but you need to stimulate the mind. Public knowledge of these dogs doing phenomenal things have ruined them to a degree. I've never seen so many in pounds, left at lakes and large areas, for sale on Craigslist, just a continuous list of so called issues, yet the dog is not the problem in nearly every case. You need to know and understand.

Couldn't agree more. As a big fan of both those breeds it always pains me seeing them with people who have no idea what they got themselves into. I always feel like they just see them used by the police, military etc. and think that they just get born as perfectly trained dogs, not realizing that these dogs they see get worked all day every day.
