I listen to this song whenever theres a school shooting. This song was from 2002 but relates to shootings of today. The video related to the multiple issues kids face, suicide, teen pregnancy (the girl), and gangs/groups and senseless rival shootings. That's the boy you're referring to and the girl got pregnant which is why her life was "stole." This song and video always puts me in my feels. I gotta listen to happy Kelly songs now, "When Love Takes Over" is up next, just to lift me back up.

So. The girl found out she was pregnant. Hence why she was at the doctors office. And yes, the boy at the end was shot. The song itself was about 3 kids getting killed in a school shooting, the first being the shooter himself commiting suicide. The video was tastefully watered down and wasnt as graphic as the song and the storyline was changed slightly, yet got the point across. This was to raise awareness of school shootings. Keep in mind Columbine was just 3 years prior.

Jack this is what happened... The first guy was bullied, he was also from an abusive home so he took his life.. Mary, the girl that witnessed the suicide, can't tell if she was depressed but one thing that was sure was that she became pregnant and had to drop out of school so her life was stole due to teenage pregnancy. Greg the basket ball star was shot few days to playing with the Sixties..... Still, there's a character in the lyrics that wasn't on the video, from this " with his baggy jeans and his legs in chain" that's talking about a guy that was arrested and jail for what he probably did or didn't do... Classic song 😍😍😍😍😍😍

If you actually listen to the song alone and the lyrics closely, the whole song is actually about a school shooting. And the boy is the shooter. Mary and Greg are the victims. "Their life was stole." "He's not invisible anymore with his father's nine and a broken fuse". "With his baggy pants and his legs in chains." aka Prison wear. They didn't want to make the video too "violent", so they softened it with individual stories. But I still love the song.

Its powerful how the actual lyrics are about a kid whos not named shooting up a school with Mary and Greg being the victims but the video shows the no name kid committing suicide, mary finding out she’s pregnant and greg shot in a gang style shooting. In reference to the last guy, I think there was some issue between him and that group of guys who appeared on the screen very briefly prior to him being shot, just based on the way they were looking at him (which is probably an obvious kind of thing to point out, so it may not be helpful). Other than that, I can't piece together much more about his story. I think the vagueness of it works on some level, though, because as a listener I can project the stories of so many people who have lost their lives randomly/senselessly on school grounds into his part. I love this song, but it's one of those I'd have to be in just the right space to listen to. The first guy's story reminds me a bit of how things were I was younger--not the domestic violence situation (I thank God for my parents and rest of my family for not perpetuating that), but having been bullied at school and feeling invisible as the "good, smart" kid. I was fortunate that in my case, my feeling of invisibility and the reality were very different, and when push came to shove, I got the love and support I needed tenfold. I appreciate your commentary on this, and if anyone happens to be reading this right now and is going through something similar to what's happening in the video, my heart goes out to you, you do matter, and please don't give up

Kelly is portrayed as a narrator who comments on the deaths of two male teenagers and their impact on their schoolmates, particularly a female student who discovers that she is pregnant after this incident. The boy in the second part of the second chorus is Greg, while hanging out with his friends.... a couple of classmates stare at him probably a rival group... then an unseen character shot Greg. That's why you see the running... This video is pretty much an aftermath of suicide, and gun violence tragedies.... and what it's effect to people, particularly teenagers. That's why the main character, Mary, after the tragedy live her life poorly due to the effects of what she had gone through in her young life... therefore the early pregnancy and depression happened to her.
