Kelly Slater is honestly one of the great guys going around. So chill and relaxed with everyone. Absolute legend.

I haven’t been a big follower of golf up until the last few years but Adam Scott is one of the players who isn’t always at the top of the leader board but is someone I always hope does well. Seems like a genuine good person
@Randsurfer2 жыл бұрын
About 10 years ago. Adam Scott played in Sony Open, Hawaii. On a Thursday or Friday he had a morning start. Straight after he finished I saw him trotting down the cliff trail to go surf Diamond Head. Pretty cool, mid-tournament. I've also played golf with Kelly. He is very good.

About 20 years ago, I was standing in line at Yatala Pies between Brisbane and the Gold Coast (Queensland Australia) and I am absolutely positive Adam Scott looking quite tanned was standing in line in front of me. I love that he is so grounded and real. Good guy that is for sure.

Such a great video, you can see how Adam tries to pull from Kelly’s championship mindset. In turn, he shares with Kelly things a tour veteran would notice, like dropping something like alignment aids from your pre-shot routine.

Monitor is set to read a long carry. Was a far cry from 304 carry of the deck.
@ericschroeder89322 жыл бұрын
That was 304. You could tell he went after that one, so club head speed was probably around 125. It looked like his 9 degree driver. 125 club head speed is about a 325 carry, off a tee. Off the deck, great smash factor, probably an 11 or 12 degree launch angle... 304. Love that sound at impact.
@jwild53602 жыл бұрын
@@ericschroeder8932 not even close on any of that. The pga tour average off a TEE with driver is 10.9 degree launch angle. I’ve watched brooks and Dj hit driver off the deck 100 times at sea level. It’s not making 300 on the fly. Adam Scott’s average Cary with a driver off the tee is 285. Sure he can carry it 300-310 off the tee if he hammers it. But not off the deck on his best day
@ericschroeder89322 жыл бұрын
@@jwild5360 young Jedi, my numbers are correct. Adam's driver off the deck was one swing, all out, a flyer, and the GC Quad numbers bear it out. Tour driving distance averages measure drives on two holes per tournament, but it doesn't mean they hit driver on each hole. Your launch angle stat isn't indicative of launch angle when these guys free wheel and let it rip. Check youtube for "Adam Scott 3 Wood on #9, 2021 Farmers Open @ Torrey Pines". Go to 2:09, and watch his drive, then 290 carry 3 wood (a bit up hill, and no, it wasn't down wind). All of these guys can carry driver much further than their "average". To quote Matt Damon, in Good Will Hunting, "I don't wanna spend the, the rest of my f-in' life (insert evening) sittin' around explaining $h..t to people." Peace out everybody, long and straight.

I think we can all agree the accuracy of Slaters straight ball was slightly off due to Scott's ability to defend the area around the pin with confidence. It goes to show in surfing the best way to progress is to know your limitations in respect to golf where progress is best utilised by the knowledge of your opponents limitations...and this is exactly how this scenario played out even before a ball touched the ground.
