I bought a loom like this and 2016 and used it for a good three years before moving onto something more complicated. I made all sorts of little purses and stuffed animals and scarves. I appreciate you taking the time to show us a project with the tiny loom!

What a fabulous project. You could also weave on your inkle loom a border like a frame. Fold the serged edges over and sew flat and the apply your inkle woven frame border on, which would cover the hem as well. The easiest option would be fabric binding - old denim jeans would be a good colour match!

I never knew there was a difference between a yank and a tug. A tug is done on the paper at the back of the loom; a yank is done on the yarn at the front. I have to remember that. :) By the way, I love your studio! Lots of space and lots of light!

Hi, I think I could see this toy loom as a good working support tool to advantage in my things to create with. I also have a round and long knitting machines with which to make panels, but would love to have a weaving for panels to seal the deal. I just love weaving at points, like crochet and knitting at intervals. I can see paneling together clothing items with this loom too.

I also use paper but I purchase the big rolls of contractor construction floor paper that contractors use to cover home flooring to protect from whatever they are doing in customers home. (I live in Canada and get from local hardware/lumber store). I get the heavier weight because it tensions threads really well as it wants to unroll so it supplies constant tension well throughout project. The crochet stitch is called extended single crochet (esc) (US terminology)

I use 1cm strips of one sided iron on interfacing before I surge. It helps stop the ruffling of the edges I cut 5mm away so that it is hardly visible

Whenever I warp up my table loom, I use 1/2" wide strips of cardboard or cardstock to separate the layers of warp. The cardstock makes for a much less bulky warp beam, especially since I can stagger the strips. I currently have a 10 yard long warp of a Lyon acrylic 'cake' on my 12" wide Rigid Heddle.

I ordered a 32 inch rigid heddle 10 sett and currently have a slow drying many layered cardboard loom that is close to the paper mache stage, hoping it will be lighter than plywood in the end but have nobs near the front for partial stand at my computer desk to keep an inch of my lap. And have 2 pair heddle supports so could do easily 3, especially if the 2 are string heddles front needs to be the beater and prefer to buy those but also ordered 1/8th inch plywood to make many heddle supports, and have some extra side pieces and plan on making half harnesses as many as I want. But I'm planning a reed that also fits in the heddle so the harnesses will turn into anything I want it to be. My cat keeps trying to sit on it as it was drying, had to block it off under our wall vent. Making the backbeam modified sectional because 32 inches is far too much for me to wind otherwise. Some chalk pain, foil and texturing to hide stuff. Who'd have known cardboard and paper could be as strong as it is? I already have some pieces cut up for a 40 inch one on a stand and that will have harnesses, and already thought if I make the handles in the front and use cardboard, with holes blocking some off with a crafting stick you can make a faux dobby, fast way of raising multi shaft harnesses, so that will be 16 harness just for fun.

Wow, that sounds amazing, I don't think I've actually heard of anyone making a loom from paper mache before! My husband has made quite a few things from paper mache and yes, it's amazing how strong it can be!

Thank you for this video. I modded my toy loom, but, think I will weave such a blanket, and will start now! But, not enough yarn at home .. uff... I made, with this toyloom, a tablerunner, with 3 panels leftover yarn, cotton, linnen and silk. I cut out the beater, because I use some other heddles, for thinner yarn. I like your crochet stitch. I learned some new, that I can do the warping not exactly same, fornevery warp threat, because I can cut it at the end, that it can work nice with teh beater, that the thik yarn can safe with the surger, and a new croche stitch... 1:06:53 your method certainly works in this setup, but to fine tune the tension even more, couldn't you insert a piece of cardboard between the weaving and the roller (like you do with the paper) to add just a bit more of tension? (Like a wedge.) Then when you advance the weaving, you could remove the cardboard and proceed as normal. 💕🌞🌵😷

Love this video. Please note, I am only leaving this extra information because you specifically asked and not because I am trying to be a snooty or something haha You are doing an interesting mix of crochet stitches which looks great. =] If you pulled the loop through the two on the hook it would be a single crochet, but then you do basically a single chain through the last one on the hook. If you did a yarn over before going through the fabric and pulling up the loop and then going through in that pattern it would be a double stitch, if you did a yarn over before going through the fabric and pulling up the loop and then going through the three that would be on it, would be a half double. But don't let that get you overthinking it haha What you have done, is a perfect binding for this particular blanket!

From an Australian... There's no name for the crochet stitch you were doing. If you had gone through the fabric & pulled up a loop, then yarn over & pulled through the 2 loops on your hook, it would be a double crochet.

I absolutely love this blanket, and colors, plus contrast. I can see adding a large tassel to each corner as topping it off if you had even another shade since you were low or out of the yarn. I say GREAT JOB! I’m sold and now I want this toy loom too. I guess it could be called a mini torture rack lol! Not overthinking, am I?! Lol

Hi the crochet stitch is a double in us term and I think it's a treble in UK. Single crochet is through, yarn over pull through two. I'm just getting in to weaving on a pin loom and I'm in love, your channel popped up, which is great for inspiration, I don't have the space for a "grown up loom" but I'm very happy with my pin loom. Really enjoyed this video -- sometimes it's lovely to go back to simple weaving (both the weave and the loom). The blanket is great. I was surprised that you wet-finished the strips before stitching them together -- the few times I've done panels, I wet finished afterwards and in your mattress stitch tutorial you said you would wet finish after. I wait to wet finish because I want that little bit of felting from the wet finish to better incorporate the seaming yarn. Is there a reason you chose to wet finish first with this blanket?

So funny, this video for me was the video with no end! 😅 It took me over 3 days to watch it all and I eagerly watched each time I had a chance to see how this project would end. Somehow I was gipped though because the ending suddenly happened and it didn't show the finished blanket??! Left me on TENTERHOOKS! Was there enough yarn to go around? I've only ever owned Janome sewing machines so it's tricky for me to recommend a brand. I would recommend though, that you find a good brand used machine rather than a cheap new one. There are a lot of basic but quality brand machines available used just because the owner is upgrading.

I've seen weavers manage a "4-shaft" pattern with 2 hddles and 2 pick-up sticks, do you think that method might work with this loom? Because if it could, then the potential is really limitless. I'm even imagining 3D printing a pair of 10 or 12 dent heddles for it.

Hmm, I guess you could use it like a rigid heddle loom by threading holes and slots? I haven't tried it. If you know anyone who has a 3D printer, they could print you an extra heddle. You can also use pick up sticks to make extra sheds.

I'm from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵 USA, and that's not what we call single crochet. Single crochet is: have a loop on the needle from the previous stitch. Stick the needle through the work, grabbing the yarn from the back and pulling through to the front (now you have two loops on the needle). Grab the yarn and pull through both loops (with no yarn over). Truthfully, I don't think I've ever seen your stitch. As our half double and double crochet starts with the loop from the previous stitch, then a yarn over and then putting the needle through the fabric and then pulling the yarn through two or all three loops. I don't think I've ever seen a stitch where you put the needle through and then did a yarn over to add additional loops. Your stitch certainly works... But our half double and double crochet maybe a bit stronger as the base of the stitch is a pull through two loops and not one. But I think your stitch comes closest to our double crochet. 💕🌞🌵😷

No I haven't, the baking paper we have here is pretty thin, I like something a bit thicker.

It is a bit thin, but a friend of mine who wove, told me, it is sufficient. And it does not break easily. I am not sure when I get to it, but I have a tapestry loom to restore, and was wondering if it can be used with a different heddle for a tighter weave than the one that came with it. It has spent sometime in the damp and all the metal pieces are rusty, but I hope, it can be used after the metal and wood have been given some tlc.
