Fun fact: At the Fox theater in downtown Detroit I went to see Ms.Patti Labelle at 12 years old by myself this was 25 years ago. Everyone was looking at me like, why is this kid here..? The lady that set next to me took me under her wing and protected me, I wish I could find her. How I got a ticket I told my grandfather, my aunt on my mother side was going and he got it for me. I wore my middle school uniform 😆 times definitely have changed since then. I will never forget that experience.

I am Kelly's age but I remember being enamored by Patti LaBelle in the early-mid-80s and my young gay self wanted to be her (and Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, and the Pointer Sisters). Patti at the Apollo Theater's anniversary stayed with me for years - her You'll Never Walk Alone was stunning and her duet with Joe Cocker was EPIC. But my favorites are always her Cyndi Lauper duets - they just both make each other better!

And R& B album iam there. The Lady Marmalade song means something to me. Iam glad Ms. Belle kicked his ass. Side note: I wanted to be an opera singer as a kid because my brother wanted to. I saw myself in a dream as a rock and roller singer in a band. I was taking a nap and remembering that dream. Side note: my oldest who can be transphobic has been talking to me more about being trans and wants to be more supportive. Shocked me in a good way. So, she researched and came up with a name we use in our community to help put words on being trans to educate and it evolved everyday all the time and changes with people. Iam a non binary lesbian. And my mind sometimes does a flip., because I don't have a p...s And my mind is male. My daughter helped me find the words and definition we use. I prefer pronouns he, him,. I cannot go outside without my bottom prosthetic and some of us have surgeries. So, I had been struggling and people tried to tell me, I guess I needed to hear it from my oldest. Two spirit and this encompass all and that can be considered non binary. Peace 🕊️
