I’m with you on cutting out unnecessary ingredients and making better choices. I think it’s wonderful. I don’t judge other people’s choices but the less processed foods we feed our children, the better. Breakfast bars and granola bars are very easy to make from scratch and even freeze for later use. Even the occasional homemade pop tart isn’t terrible to have. Batch cooking helps us stay on track. I’m less likely to eat a quick processed breakfast if I already have a breakfast casserole in the fridge. For example, I put chopped frozen broccoli in a casserole dish, cracked some eggs in some milk, added ricotta, salt and pepper, poured over the broccoli and baked it. Then I topped with a little bit of cheese and stuck it back in the oven to get melty. Now we have breakfast for several days. I have salad prepped in the fridge and baked chicken and we’re having buffalo chicken wraps for lunch for a few days and pulled pork for dinner for a few days. I made healthier no bake cookies and we’ve been making air fryer zucchini chips from the garden. Also homemade hummus is super easy and great with carrot sticks and cucumber etc. just putting it out there for inspo. I know I’m always looking for ideas myself 😀
@KellysKorner082 ай бұрын
Love those ideas. I need to make more stuff homemade and try some batch cooking as well. Buying from the store, even if it’s “healthy” it’s still processed. 😕 Thanks for sharing!

I changed our diet 5 years ago. We only eat turkey, chicken and fish. No pork or red meat. I buy my meat from Wild Fork. We do a gluten free whole foods diet. Mostly fresh fruit and veggies. Very little boxed, canned or frozen items. If I buy any of that I get gluten free and organic. It definitely can be done. And on a budget. It's mainly just having the patience to read labels. To plan and organize your meals. It not only helped me lose a lot of weight. But, it helped my GI and esophagus issues.

We converted to Rocket Money about 2 years ago (YNAB was tedious) and what a game changer! We also shop for shelf items and meats once a month and fresh items weekly, it saves time, energy and $$$ when we do it this way. I know some will say “I can’t shop a month ahead, I do t even know what we eat for the next month!”- so, I suggest keeping a log of what your 3 meals and snacks are for about 6 weeks and you will find you eat more of the same items in that period than you think you do. Once the 6 weeks are done, shop for the shelf safe items and freezer items you eat once a month and then the fresh produce/dairy weekly and no one says you can’t do something different once a week or monthly when it comes to a meal and have to run to the store to get the items for that one off meal!

Thank you Kelly for making healthy choices for your family. I sometimes cringe when I see all the junk food and high sugar and carb foods that moms buy for their kids. I think you have done a good job with your shopping. I especially credit you for cooking healthy home meals instead of going out for fast foods. So many moms find it easier to do drive through rather than cook at home. Keep up your healthy choices as it will pay off in the long run. Such a great idea to make your own snack bags for the kids.

My husband and I have been shopping Aldi each week and love there are Organic brands available in so many selections. We still shop Wal-Mart pickup, but we only buy our preferred brands or items that Aldi does not carry. Their selection of bread is amazing and the pastries my husband has been loving. If you have one close to you, I hope you will try them and see what they have to offer. For example, we have bought Dave's killer bread from Walmart for years and Aldi's has several along the same line that we have liked. And it's CHEAPER! We strive to save money where we can so the extra can be spent on something else. Love your channel!!

The baking soda and vinegar cancellation depends on what and how you are going to use it which will determine the ratio of soda to vinegar. Equal parts take the mixture to a 7.0 which is even for PH. There are charts online which determine the acidity and alkalinity of the mixture and help determine it's use.

If you remove your bananas away from your other fruit as the pectins turn your fruit quicker they ripen to quick try this put half your bananas in your fridge lay on a shelf it slows the ripening if you get some half green ones that’s even better they can keep a good two weeks in there; use your yellow ones that’s in your kitchen or dining room first takeout the others before you use the last ones same with apples split them into the fridge as well to keep longer , fruit and veg in a supermarket are stored in a big chiller room on delivery before they go onto the shop floor for sale so keeping them chilled is good. Your jars need to be dry when putting your fruit into them before going to the fridge x

I loved watching all your organization and grocery haul. You buy a lot of same things I buy... Annie's Mac n Cheese (it IS so much tastier than Kraft ), crackers to enjoy with chili(yes!), brussel sprouts, natural choice brand lunch meat, organic spaghetti sauce, pasta, pasta and pasta! How wonderful you are looking at ways to eat cleaner and keep your family feeling well. I know what you mean about not taking everything fun away from the kids. 😂 On that note, I wanted to share that you can make your own goldfish and it's simple! The hardest thing to do is buy the mold! 😂 I'm going to make my own goldfish for my 2 yo grandson. I've got the silicone mold in my cart at Amazon. It's about $8 and makes over 100 goldfish at once. Oh and there are recipes on TikTok! Maybe you and your kids would like to make them as a family activity! 😁 And later if you like making your own, you can later make some with various seasonings you like... garlic powder, cayenne if you like spicy, rosemary, etc

The cinnamon crunch cereal you bought is one of our favorites. Regarding the pop tarts- I don’t buy those either for our kids. I've never seen fruit done like that in the mason jars. I'm going to try it. Also, I wanted to mention something from a previous video you did---I went out of town for a few days am just now catching up on my own house and yard and , as a result, have gotten behind on your videos. It was a video that included putting all your vacuum cleaners in that little closet off the kitchen. I think I noticed that you have a plug that is near where your dogs eat. If that plug is on the other side of the storage closet wall, it should be easy (for someone who knows how to do it safely) to put a plug inside your little closet by jumping off the plug near the dog bowls. In my first house I had a walk-in closet and I asked my Daddy (who was an electrician) to put a plug in my closet so that I could leave my ironing board up all the time (in the old days we ironed everything). He did it by jumping off a plug that was in the bathroom on the other side of the closet. From that same plug you could install an overhead light and light switch near the door. Just make sure that it's wired so that you don't turn off the plug when you turn off the light. Just something you might want to check into since you have so many cleaning appliances that require charging. Always enjoy your videos!🦋🦋🦋

The less processed food we can buy and eat the better. The bulk of our grocery hauls should be ingredients and not premade items. One switch that we made within the last year is getting rid of seed oils. I like to cook almost everything from scratch and it does take time but the rewards are worth it for us. Sometimes we need something quick but my kids will complain about the not homemade version every time. ❤lifeatthenutthouse

It’s easy peasy and you’re in control of what’s going in to them. It’s good to be mindful of what we eat and where our food comes from and I commend you.
