Who remembers when the biggest upcoming names in Womens College Basketball were Paige Bueckers and Hailey Van Lith? Everybody thought those two were going to be the future of Women’s basketball. It’s pretty impressive how Caitlyn Clark seemingly came out of nowhere and just dominated. And now everybody is saying she’s the GOAT lol.

Lol. She didn’t come out of nowhere. She was on multiple FIBA USA Under teams. Paige was the biggest because she was on the cover of Slam and they did a documentary about the Hopkins Royals team. They were a very good team. Then UConn, went to the Final Four, beating Iowa along the way. And they even styled that game as PB vs CC. Next year, Paige has an injury, gets surgery, sits out 20 games, comes back and helps her team get to the Championship game. If UConn didn’t have 3 starters and two other key players out for the year due to injuries, you’d hear about PB a lot this year too. But with the injuries they’re only about a top 20 team. You have to be top five to be talked about a lot.

That scoring record means nothing because Kelsey Plum, just like Clark, was a ballhog at Washington. Neither of them has a national championship to their names. All the great women's players of the past twenty-five years could have scored a ton of points if they decided to throw up 30 shots a night for their careers. Breanna Stewart is the standard. 4 time national champion, barely ever lost a game in college, followed by Chamique Holdsclaw in Tennessee's heyday, Sue Bird, Swin Cash, and Diana Taurasi, leaders of untouchable UConn teams, Maya Moore, one of the most dominant point guards to ever play, Brittney Griner, unstoppable in her time, and I'd even throw some others like Candace Parker and Aja Wilson in there. Clark is not nearly as accomplished as any of those players, not until she wins a championship, which she won't.
