Ken Ham took to twitter to express his frustrations at Tim Keller and his new Tim Keller Center for Apologetics. In doing so he brings up some interesting points to consider. How wrong does a Christian have to be before they are no longer useful?

Tim Keller could literally tweet a Bible verse and Twitter Christians will rage in his replies.

Ken Ham would call Jesus a liberal. A big factor in many people deconverting is the far-reaching influence of organizations like Answers in Genesis (which acts like a clinic on how *not* to read Genesis) and Abeka (a popular homeschooling curriculum which indoctrinated kids with very strange and unbiblical ideas about God, the world, science, and culture).

Keller can’t win for losing. It’s hard to find somebody in Christianity anymore who is not a grifter. Oh yeah I have a hard-working local pastor who labors in the word for us every week, and performs all kinds of practical ministry.

Ken: 🎵"Oh, I care not what church you belong to, just as long as for God you may stand. If your heart today is as my heart, you're my brother so give me your hand"🎵 Me: "Amen! By the way I believe in evolu..." Ken: *BURN THE WITCH!!!*

Did you read the Tim Keller Biologos article you referenced? It is based on a poor exegesis of Genesis. I think you need to follow a good process and Tim Keller doesn’t always do that with Scripture. For that reason I would not sit under his teaching.

Evolution is not an issue. The Genesis story teaches us why God sanctified the seventh day. I notice that the fundamentalists don’t believe in literally following this commandment. I also note that neither first century Jews nor the church fathers read Genesis literally. It’s a moral story, not a science textbook.

Interesting because I know Ken Ham did say in one of his books that he didn’t think it was a salvation issue if people held onto to an evolution view but yes it can skew a few things. It’s interesting to know that Tim believes in a Historical/literal Adam (I didn’t know). Also Charles Spurgeon was playing with the idea of evolution near the end of his life, thinking it was possible. Yet he’s the most quoted Christian in fundamental circles….I will admit still getting out of the “fundamental circle” that I might of thought family members who believed in evolution were not saved. When in fact they probably are, and they enjoy reading Tim Keller because they have similar views. Thanks for this! I have judged way too harshly! 😢

Appreciate the kind words. You're right Ham has said that he does believe Christians can be evolutionists but it seems that he believes that they are still seriously flawed in their theological foundation. I do believe there are dangers with your hermeneutic if you interpret Genesis 1 allegorically, but as long as someone can hold to a historic Adam and that Genesis 2 is a literal narrative then (even if I see inconsistencies) they can be on good standing theologically. I didn't know that about Spurgeon. Always learning. Thanks again!

Anyone who believes in a literal 6 day creation has a lot to wrestle with as well, like the fact it doesn't make any sense and there's no evidence to support it.

@@Underdogtheology He’s a well intentioned and obnoxious fool. I wish more people listened to Biologos or John Walton than him. They’re much better sources of information.
