You guys are the friends I’ve been looking for. You don’t ask me for anything, you show up every day, you’re not sensitive, and we are like minded! I’m a disabled veteran, that is a stay at home dad with my 4yr old autistic son. Life had me in the gutter, but the outdoors, your channel, and logging have breathed new life into me. Literally, I’ve been struggling for many years… stepped away from landscaping two years ago and I never realized how important working outside with nature is to me and my happiness… sounds so stupid, but your channel literally sparked a fire under my ass to be a better man. Ik this is drawn out but I wanted to share what your work has done for me. Therapy comes in many forms, firewood processing and a KZbin channel is what worked for me. Again thank you so much…

Nothing better than a safe conclusion to a hard job. I remember the days of working in the snow and steam pouring off. Tough walking over and around your carnage. Then back to the house, remove all the gear, hot shower and a cup a Joe and crazy enough to think about going back out. The majority will never have those experiences. First day of winter. Stay safe. Maybe a regional thing but I see a lot of videos from the eastern side of the country where people mount short bars on saws that can handle more bar. Out west we tend to run longer bars but also have different timber. Having cut miles of fireline (brush and timber) and thinned 1000's of acres of trees which were mostly
@InTheWoodyard2 жыл бұрын
I have tried longer bars but I think in brush they are a pain and the extra front weight all day gets old too. In Europe they use 16-18" bars almost exclusively with a 20" being huge. Also our hard maple when below zero is like cutting rock and will snap chains if you over do it, so the material is way different too.

We cleared a friend's driveway through the woods when he bought property. His only quote to have it done was around $20 a foot. At almost 100 yds through the woods... 3 guys working it we had it done in 3hrs. Done. Brush moved stumps cut flat. 3hrs Best part about that was no under brush with the mature trees. But man has that changed with oak wilt.

I did a job clearing an area 60 feet by 200 feet 2 years ago 3 weeks before Christmas. It was not a fun job. I was regretting taking the job until about halfway through when I had a brilliant idea. Once the job was done I gathered enough good fire wood( ash, maple, and mostly birch) to fill the back of my 2019 F350 and took it to a family that was financially strapped and really needed it. I told them it was a Christmas gift. The only bad part of it was they couldn't burn it till the following winter. This made me feel better about the not so fun job and made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Next time I think I will try and work things out with someone that sells fire wood. Trade green wood for cured wood.

One tough smart worker in tough conditions. Too damn familiar here in Maine on our place. Worst is snow getting down your back. Whine.

Same to you Anthony, you mean the normal winter weather we have every year? The media always over does it, it's winter.

Mr. Greenchaps was giving free tree camera rides today. Hope Kenny's knee recovers from obvious painful abuse. So you are ok with 20" bar for this work but need the 70cc power. I'm guessing that the 562 will liven up when its broke in fully. Storm brewing will be dangerous everywhere. GNI

Yup, it is a nice saw but not as good as a 70cc saw.

Just wondering how many cords of wood Ken burns per winter to heat his house ?
@BertsCustomCuts2 жыл бұрын
He said about 7 cords in yesterday's video depending on how cold it is.

About 8 but that is for 2 stoves, he has a garage stove too.

Try not to do any permanent damage Ken or make things worse. Take care of yourself buddy! Another words back and knee braces, a good chiro, a woman’s touch, and a sniff of whiskey.

Yup, getting worse is not good!

To be honest I’d have taken a different approach to that job, I’d have walked in and started from the other end and worked my way to the road, that way you’d have been on clean ground at all times 😜

These types of jobs suuuuuucckk!! They basically rented the Human D9 Dozer called Kenny for the day! But since I like to stay positive.I will say...Atleast it wasn't all small thorn trees! Thanks for the series of videos with you both. Always such good stuff!👍👍
