Both Chad and Dan really work hard and make a great team to get things done. I admire all your work ethics. We live at 6,400 ft, our entire house has 2x6 walls and very large structural beams. Last winter we 601" of snow for the 22/23 season. Love watching you guys, never built a house, have done many carpentry projects around our house, our sons and daughters houses. During winter we get power outages, have EcoFlow River Pro Portable Power Station with solar panel and a Champion’s generator 8000 watt with electric & pull start, dual fuel, runs on either gasoline or propane to keep lights and appliances running. Keep up the great videos and loved yours joint projects with Al & Gina of Lumnah Acres. Stay well.

Wow, that's pretty good size 28' x 32'. Those 2"x6" walls look heavy! Twelve foot sections sound hefty. The walls sit over the foam nice. Are you drilling a little farther inside to put the anchors down? It's nice that you can run the drill off of the solar power. It always amazes me how fast the walls go up! They always look so straight too! You even have the wall notched out too. House wrap and then the T-111! Whoa, not enough bright sunshine because of the smoke. Wow, really bad air quality! It's looking good with all the T-111 up and the windows and doors cut out. Wow, windows going in too! Lots of progress in this video. Thanks for sharing Ken and crew!

love them ten foot walls except for installing them;;;lol;;;interesting how shop built and fit when installed;;;we always built in place and sometimes went too far with one wall and had to call in the skyhook to help raise them;;;;lol;;;;amazing how times change outer wrap;;;various wraps we used;;;celetex;;gyp rock;;;felt;;;even roll roofing with gravel toward studs;;;what a mess;;;but home owner wanted so that's what he got;;;I never see you strike chalk lines to square peremiter of structure;;;guess that done off camera;;;have had slabs a foot out of square';;;;concrete installer had to add extra ten feet to square and pay for extra framing;;;lol;;;wasn't happy but his crew helped pay as one side burned a foot to get the distance and the other didn't ;;;costly;;;;lol;;;good one;;;thumbs up and keep em coming;;;

Great video guys. What's the cost of a 28x32 similar to this one please? It looks like an ideal size for a get-away cabin. Also, these fires just don't add up. I unfortunately believe there is something more to these than being "natural" of having to do with "climate change".

I've built a couple of shops/garages with thickened-edge slabs. Two have had fairly heavy clay to over 2 feet deep but both garages were to be heated to 45 degrees or more all winter long (mid-Minnesota). What I did was dug a 2' deep trench that was 2' wide from the garage edges out. I placed 2" foam board vertically on both the inside wall and the bottom. This was very much cheaper than excavating 2'-3' of clay from a 600-800 sq. ft. area and haul in a lot of fill! The clay under the slab never freezes so there is no movement and the slabs have stayed crack free for these past 23-27 years.

Love watching the walls going up so fast. Sure helps us visualize the final structure. I know that sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do, but please keep a close eye on the air quality, especially as far north as you are. Some months ago here, just above the central NY-PA border we had a 492! FOUR NINETY TWO. Made it impossible to see hills less than a mile away, and it smelled like burning paint. Didn't taste very good either. Take care of yourselves.

The only way to make the 2 x 6 walls lighter is to make more section. But from the perspective we’ve got it’s seems that the walls went up ok. HOBOTEC was showing some new solar panels that were amazing on durability issues you might take a look at. They’re $ but when you see his demo video you’ll see what they have. Thanks for sharing your work today.

Got a lot done in a day here! Would be curious to know the charge rate for the solar system on an overcast day like that. Are we in the 25% range? (100 watts versus 400 watts?) That hammer drill probably draws near 1,000 watts, but that's 20 seconds use with a minute or two between holes. Intermittent use is where that works out in the long run.
@ronkolacek9645 Жыл бұрын
Why do you set walls in your way of the other ones? Don't you think setting the walls on the far side of the slab furthest away from the truck and trailer would be easier? One last thing why do you set your windows on top of the t1-11? as a custom home builder for 50 years I always put all my windows in first...then the wall finish. Not sure how water tight your method will be?

@rupe53 Жыл бұрын
If you back up one or two videos, you can kind of piece together the cost. Recalling $175 a yard for concrete, (he mentions the total yards) $57 each for insulation board, he mentioned the cost per stick on the rebar, (you'd have to count) and a few days labor for the crew of 3 guys. Also, figure the 2x8 forms, and (guessing) 10 yards of gravel, plus a roll of plastic sheeting. (vapor barrier)
