Ken, my wife and I have been watching your KZbin channel for about 8 yrs. We love your channel. I feel compelled to ask, at 70 yrs of age, why have you not retired yet? We always thought your sons would take over the business. Son Chad seems like he would probably tke over and Dan would stay on board to work for him. We watch your show through our TV on KZbin. It appears during live shows, our name fails to show up, although we can hit the "like" button.

Oh yes there Ken, When you build one of these for me I think I'll have you build the whole deck. You know with whatever footings you suggest. Maybe a "double deck." Yea one for the entry (area) then one for the second floor. And I'm putting in a Chimney. No one puts chimneys in their new builds anymore. Yep with brick and maybe even two 9/12 ceramic flue liners. Remember those? A cook stove in the kitchen and a fire place in the living area. A mantel over the hearth. I'll take care of that later. But then I can stack wood on the "deck below." Sure ~ That would work. When you build one of these for me. One of these, Ken. Pretty much like this. Oh yea! ~✨🌸🌟🌸✨~. from Nahampsha

Kaya likes "take your dog to work" days. Not my house but I wouldn't put solid walls along the stairwell. The house will feel much more closed in and small. I kept adding compost to my potato beds as they grew until I had added about 18". They did really well. Some were in the 4'x5' compost bin, others were in 3 tire towers - 2 tires on 2 and 3 on the other. I think maybe you have the lights too close to the plants but I've never done a grow light setup so I could be 100% wrong.
@chadhensch4748
@chadhensch4748 Жыл бұрын
Potatoes depend on the type--if you need to add more soil to top as tubers grow upwards. Determinate or indeterminate variety? Most common potatoes are determinate variety. Therefore, soil mounding doesn't benefit because the tubers grow at one level. The level that you planted them at in the bucket initially. Basic varieties like Russet, Pontiac Red, Yukon gold, Kennebeck whites fall under determinate variety. I did German Butterballs this year--as a test. They were my only indeterminate type of potato. So, I had to add soil to container as the plants grew up. Produced and tasted exceptionally well. When you see the potato plants begin to flower--you are assured the tubers are growing potatoes, signaling reproduction and you'll have a harvest. The potato flowers are or can be toxic to animals and humans as they contain high levels of solanine. PS: I really enjoy all of your content and channels. Keep up good work Ken, Dan and Chad.

ken you should reach out to someone like mars hydro they would totally hook you up with a light or two that would run way more efficiently than the bulbs youre using. they work fine but are probably costing you more in electricity than any other part of your grow room. if you swap out all the little bulbs with a couple larger fixtures that run on LED diodes you will have much happier plants and a lower electricity bill. they do sponsor ship packages and im sure would make something work.

The build looks good, and I can see you are into the learning curve on the greenhouse. Amazing how quickly that utility bill went up when you spent more time in the garage.... then added grow lights and a heater. When I retired my power bill also went up because I was spending more time at the house, especially in the winter.

Two more inches of soil. The reason is that as they put on the spuds 🥔 they will be in loose soil 1) they will be bigger. 2) easily dugout, we did them in rows. 3) And we used a dubbed potato 🥔 plow. To braking apart the hill and not damaging the potato 🥔. Your bucket 🪣 will be interesting to see how they turn out 😊

Wow Ken, that's some surgery you did to get the ledger board up correctly! That looks great Ken! The flashing went on great. Thanks for showing the header you did on the other side of the opening for the stairs. That looks nice and solid. Thanks for explaining that the stairs will be inside walls. Thanks for showing the mesh over the top of the opening in the roofline. Too bad you were short on the ridge cap metal for the porch. I see lots of lag bolts! You put the T-111 and battens back up below it? It looks really nice. Thanks for telling us about the compellation video of your model railroad build. Too bad about your struggles with the indoor greenhouse. Your electric bill sure went up! I can understand why you want to go solar for that greenhouse! Thanks for these updates Ken. Great video!

Your experience, work ethic and added explanations of results as well as the diverse areas of sharing make your every video feel like I got to visit with my own Dad again. Your heart to do things right on your builds, including your indoor green house, incredible train village, as well as your sharing and making changes along the way, give explanations about your plant growing adventures and learning curve will be a huge help when I make my coming move to a new location and get more container plants growing. Many thanks and blessings for you, your crew and your enjoyable and informative videos!! Hope you give step by step on your off grid solar for the workshop - with product info and reasons for choosing those materials, placement and installation.

You need LED strips for lighting (6500k). Those bulbs you're using burn when that close. LED will reduce your energy usage by a lot.

They aren't hiding. There is no power to the building so they'll have to go solar. Because it's a house they do have to put in a septic system. It's out in the woods. It's a pretty area. I'd say that's off grid.
