After coming across this months ago, I was stunned that I’d never heard anything about iodine and breast pain. I’ve suffered extreme breast tenderness with PMS since I was a teen and I’m now in my 40’s. There were times I’d wear a sports bra over a regular bra because it was so painful. This had happened for 10 to 14 days a month since puberty. I don’t think anyone ever took me seriously when I said how painful it was. I started supplementing with 3 drops of iodine a day and it’s completely resolved. It’s amazing. I suffered for three decades because I never found this information anywhere and no doctor ever addressed it. I cannot thank you enough. It’s literally life changing.

I had a goiter & it was growing fast. My doctor wanted to schedule surgery. I had been using the new salts that came out instead of good old Morton Salt with iodine plus was not putting salt on my foods because of high blood pressure. I researched everything & being low in iodine was key. I simply started putting good old Morton iodized salt on my food and SERIOUSLY it was gone in less then a month. Taking iodine supplements now everyday. My endocrinologist refused to give me anything to shrink it he insisted on surgery. Needless to say I will continue my research & self care before ever going under the knife. How simple a solution he didn’t give a shi t about what taking my thyroid out & the after effects would be for me. He couldn’t have cared less about me. Thank you Dr Ken for helping people learn how to heal naturally which will save them from surgery’s & long term medical problems. ❤

*Iodine is required for one of the steps in apoptosis: programmed cell death, in which a cell that recognizes its DNA has been damaged, will kill itself to keep you from developing cancer.* Iodine deficiency is associated particularly with all cancers of the reproductive system, but especially with breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. The Japanese have the highest intake of iodine and the lowest incidence of all those cancers. The people of Iceland used to have the second lowest rates, but then, around 1982, mega-agri-business stepped in and sold the farmers there on feeding cattle industrial pellets instead of the traditional kelp. The iodine level in their systems plummeted and Icelandic cancer rates soared to match those of the US and Western Europe. *Iodine in the blood stream and lymphatic system also acts as a whole-body antiseptic.*

I started menapause recently. Hair fell out in clumps . Hot flushes like crazy. Sleepless nights. Sore joints. No energy. Came across the following in my you tube researched and BOOM 🙌🙌🙌. Not one of those symptoms anymore. Almost immediately hot flushes stopped. Hair loss slowed down and has grown much thicker. Can literally count the strands I loose now on one hand. Sleeping through and no sore joints. Iodine 20ml ( mix with a little water) Selenium 75mg Iron 80mg Magnesium 80mg Even started spraying my scalp with iodine once a week. Kills any fungus that attacked the hair at the surface of the scalp due to lack of iodine which was part of the reason why it fell out. Praise God 🙌

Just to put this out there: for about a year and a half I was taking between 8-20 drops of 5% Lugol's every day. The only "bad" effect I ever had was that my throat would feel a bit scratchy sometimes, and then I would cut back for a while and that would go away. The good effects that I had were a significant increase in mental sharpness, better short term and long term memory, and much better dream recall. I had hoped for an increase in energy and for my hair to stop shedding so much, and it didn't do either of those things for me, so I eventually stopped taking it. Now I take 6 drops of 2% Lugol's three times a week. If you're scared to take iodine, just remember that a scratchy throat will usually be the first harmless sign that you have enough and can lower your dose. It would be very hard to "overdose" unless you were ignoring what your body is telling you.
@SuziRider5D
@SuziRider5D Жыл бұрын
Lugol's tastes nasty and iodine is also a surgical disinfectant. So you most likely were killing the good protective bacteria in the back of your throat, too, hence the scratchy, painful throat. That is why most people prefer the pill form. Lugols is usually only used when sneaking it to toddler or a grandma who refuses to take another pill. 1. Also be sure your selenium intake is 200-800 mcg/day if low on thyroid production (fatigue, cold hand & feet, thinning eyebrow ends, forgetfulness, body temp typically in the 97s) is a problem. Doctors test the pituitary's TSH and miss 30% of nutrition-based thyroid issues. RT3/Free T3

@@SuziRider5D I took 5% Lugol's iodine five days a week for a year, applying it to my stomach, nails, throat, and everywhere else, and it worked really well for me. My hair started growing back, and I had one thyroid nodule and fibroids due to iodine deficiency after childbirth. The nodule completely disappeared, and I was left with one fibroid. However, at the end of the year, I developed large lymph nodes in my throat, under my jaw, and around my ears, as well as near the trachea. I experience a burning sensation in my throat whenever Lugol's iodine touches it. It swells more and never goes down. It seems to have happened just as you mentioned, killing good bacteria and allowing bad ones to multiply, probably causing an infection in my salivary glands. I have used many antibiotics, but it never goes away. And in the last three months, five thyroid nodules suddenly appeared. We also applied 2% Lugol's iodine to my son and had him gargle with it, and he developed black rashes on his legs, his teeth decayed, white lines appeared on his nails, and his throat lymph nodes became very hard. We can't use iodine anymore as we are afraid of it, but at the same time, whenever we use any chlorinated disinfectants, some probiotics, antioxidants like NAC, or anti-inflammatory substances like serrapeptase, our throat lymph nodes swell up uncontrollably, and none of the doctors can understand it. I am very afraid of surgery and getting cancer. Would L-carnitine or anything else help? Is there anyone else going through the same situation as me? Please help us, what should we do? Please!!!!!

@@SuziRider5D I take 60 to 80 mg of the Lugol's formula a day in lemon water (the lemon hides any taste), basically 15 drops of 2% in a full glass of lemon water twice a day and have never had scratchy throat. You need to learn what you can from people like Dr. Berry, that seem to think about what they do and think for themselves. Ultimately make your own decisions with good info. I take whay the majority of MDs say with a grain of salt as the majority are unfortunately not very smart and simply memorize whay they are told. They are like tech support for you computer now. 99% have no clue what they are doing they just run through a color coded cheat sheet to solve mosy likely scenarios and prescribe a drug. Dr Berry seems like he is studying the source of the problem rather than blindly prescribing the recommended drug to mask your symptoms and wreak havoc on something else creating a money making domino effect.

Doctor Berry, Iodine is in the Halogen atomic group. The other element members include Fluorine, Chlorine and Bromine. Your body has Iodine receptors for Iodine uptake. If you are Iodine-deficient, your Iodine receptors will grab other members in the Halogen group, so you can get Chlorine or Bromine or Fluorine replacing the Iodine, which can cause pronounced health problems. Examples of Iodine competitors in your environment: chlorinated water (swimming, drinking, bathing, showering), brominated SOFT DRINKS (Mountain Dew, etc.), and fluoride in the water. These are far more abundant in your diet than any sources of Iodine. That is why you NEED an Iodine supplement daily, to counter these competitors and provide the iodine supply you need. Iodized salt is not enough. My catch-up dose is 250mg of Lugol’s iodine per day. I will need to do this for at least 6 months every day. At dosing time, I also take 100mcg of Selenium, and 1/2 teaspoon of Sea salt in a cup of distilled water (Redmond’s Real Salt is my favorite.) You must take salt to avoid nausea as the salt flushes out bromine from your body. Remember to take SELENIUM every time you take iodine. If you don’t, the T4 won’t be converted into T3 in yourThyroid gland which can be a problem!

Taking iodine (Detoxadine, a nascient iodine), I was able to stop taking thyroid meds (Armour) after 10 years. In the beginning when I was trying to wean off thyroid meds I took 4 to 5 drops per day but now I take one drop several times a week. My diet also has adequate iodine in it. I find when I take more that I don't sleep and sometimes have a rapid heart beat. Each person has to learn to listen to their own body and regulate. :)

Very good video doc. Another very important benefit of iodine is that when used in "Japanese doses" (12.5 mg daily) toxic heavy metals which have accumulated are gradually urinated out of the body. This includes lead, mercury, aluminum, cadmium and arsenic. I've witnessed some pretty impressive changes in mentation in people who had no source of iodine intake. For those of us in our seventies, we actually got a fair amount of daily iodine from diet up until the mid 1980's. Prior to that there was iodine in bread and milk products. The iodine was used for manufacturing reasons - iodine keeps cow's milk glands from getting infected, and baker's noted that a little iodine was a good dough conditioner helping the bread bake evenly. Looking at graphs pre and post mid 1980's you see a rise in breast and colon cancer diagnoses as well as a marked increase in average body weight (obesity). There is a good, easy read on iodine in a book entitled: "Iodine why you need it" by Dr Brownstein.

I'm really confused about the dosages. I have an iodine deficiency and just started taking 200 micrograms daily, which equals 0.2 milligrams. When you say "12.5 mg daily", do you mean micrograms or milligrams? Also, Dr.Berry says, that he and his family take up to 3 milligrams daily. Do I understand it right, that I can increase my dosage 5 to 10 times then? I would really appreciate, if you could help me with this.

Cliff Notes of this & more: 1. Dr. David Brownstein, MD wrote The Book on Iodine. It even helped saved his dad's ailing heart. Read it. 2. RDA was developed in the 1920s to prevent goiter when a slice of bread also had 150 mcg. as a leavening agent. People ate a lot of bread & butter and sandwichss back then, so their average intake was also a lot higher than now. Now bread often has bromine (a fungicide) instead. 3. The best test for an iodine deficiency is swallowing 50mg (4 pills) then seeing how much is not absorbed by the body and peed out over the next 24 hrs. It should be over 45mg. 4. Body typically needs 3-5mg/day, per extended studies. Teenage girls need a LOT when breasts are developing. 5. People exposed to radiation (xrays, CT scan) or who have any issue with the endocrine system [any '-itis' (inflammation) nodules l, or cysts) thyroid, breasts, overies, prostate] should try taking 50 mg (12.5mg x 4) per day for 1-3 months, until symptoms subside, then 1/day for maintenence. 6. Low iodine is often the cause of infertilty issues. 7. Iodine is used in almost every cell in the body. A deficiency makes the body try to MacGyver another halide cousin (such as fluoride) in its place, and those are toxic, so the immune system encapsulates it. When combined with a common semi-dormant HHV-family toxin-excreting virus, it can then sit in its excrement & either die or go cancerous. 8. 2% Iodide in iodized Table Salt (40/60 Sodium Chloride) was recently found to compete with the chloride and be absorbed poorly. Hence the falling fertility rates, weight gains, breast & health problems, etc. 9. Swallowed Thyroid meds are broken down into iodine & selenium in the gut, thus often 'stop working' after the severe deficiency is treated and natural production has been suppressed for months. Take them sublingually, and randomly to minimize addiction, then wean off under your doctor's supervision while continuing the Iodoral/eq and +200 mcg selenium/day, but

Dr. Berry, you do not know how much I have appreciated your videos. I hate to say this but I believe most of the current doctors are lacking some of the knowledge you share. When I first saw this video in 2019, I took the information to my regular MD and he said that amount of 1-2 mg were way too high and that my synthroid was addressing my needs. All my numbers were always at the low to medium on the test results and although he said this was in the normal range, I never felt better with my synthroid. I finally switched to a DO almost four yearsago and the first thing she did was increase my thyroid and put me on the drops of iodine/iodide 3 mg per day, in the morning, one half hour after my synthroid dose. I feel so much better, have lost some weight easily, no longer feel freezing all of the time and my hair has come back almost as thick as it was before. It has taken me almost four years to get to this point but it was well worth it. My eyebrows and lashes are still thin though; I wish you could come up with something to fix that problem! My doctor has reduced my synthroid dosage, however, I am still on the same 3 mg liquid drops of iodine/iodide. Thank you for bringing this to the public's attention.

I took care of my mother for 6 months while she was dieing of cancer. Had to wake up 6 times per night for 10 minutes to help her. Within that time I got heavy sleep deprivation, very depressed, very ill -malnourished, so much so that I lost a decent amount of hair, and was so cold that my teeth chattered at night- I would use 4 covers and it never helped. After she died, my symptoms got worse, so I read up on a lot of things and found that iodine was associated with being cold, hair loss, etc. I started taking it and within a week or so started having major heart palpatations and extremely pale and weak. So one day I had to go to the ER for it from work. My brother asked if there was anything that I had recently started taking- I told him 'sea kelp', he told me to stop taking it and within two days I was back to normal. Thereafter, I went to a naturopathic dr. and told him about it, he said that some people overdose on iodine and will always be sensitive to it thereafter. I was, and 35 yrs later, I still am. In fact, I'm so sensitive that my neck will sting on my right side when I take anything that even resembles iodine from those sources. At times, all I have to do is read the small print at the base of the bottle to see what it was derived from. I don't have that reaction to actually eating sea fish, or sea salt. From my experience, I believe you can take too much, just because my body is consistent in it's reactions. Thanks Dr berry!- LOVE your videos and you have helped me greatly! 👍

Very good explanation. I've been in the health industry for nearly 3 decades and I must say that iodine is amazing for sure and most physicians are scared to death of it for some reason. It is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-cancer, and so much more. Regarding T2 - guess what tissue in the body outside of the thyroid gland can use iodine to make thyroid hormone T2? It's the ovaries! That's why women with failing ovaries tend to gain weight and once T2 is added to their supplement list, they see satisfactory weight loss within weeks. Yes, T2 can be purchased over the counter! Also, since the ovaries can produce thyroid hormone it's definitely one area that needs to be checked in women who are hyperthyroid. Always take 200mcg of selenium when supplementing with iodine and I personally take and recommend Iodoral. This particular supplement contains a total of 12.5mg in both forms of iodine and iodide. No need to fear it! Yes, if you are loaded with heavy metals/halogens, you might get some initial detox reactions, but the fix is adding 1/4 teaspoon of unrefined sea salt to 16 ounces of water and drink the solution every hour or two until symptoms disappear. If symptoms are severe (which I doubt they will be), but if they are, you can take a product called Push/Catch by QuickSilver. Either way, liver support is crucial during the initial phases of any detox. I also use and personally recommend using an infrared sauna on a daily basis to help speed along the detox process. If you have a defective symporter pump, then you will need to supplement with vitamin C and a complete B vitamin complex that especially contains B2 and B3. Also, iodine will increase TSH because this is what signals the symporter pump. So, be sure to tell your physician that you are on iodine supplementation if you plan on doing a thyroid test. In any case you should always go by body temperature when measuring thyroid function. Your body temp should be 98.6 degrees 3 hours after waking up. The lower it is below 98.6 the lower your thyroid function and vice-versa. Always use a 30 second thermometer when measuring body temp otherwise you will get inaccurate readings. Iodine will heal you! It causes apoptosis in cancer cells! It is magnificent! Keep up the good work!

I started supplementing iodine around the spring of 2023. For years I was only taking 5mg (5000mcg) a day. After finging out that plenty of doctors in the 19th and 20th century were giving patients 400mg/day. In fact one doctor was giving his patients 1200 mg per day ... I bumped that up to 60mg a day, and have been doing so for several months now. No detrimental effects, but I do have more energy. Also need to mention that a few weeks or so after going up to 60mg to 80mg a day my heart arrhythmia went away. I had had that for at least a decade. I use the Lugol's formula at 2% concentration putting 15 drops in a big glass of lemon water twice a day. More or less, I don't count the drops anymore. The main thing to watch out for is something people are calling an allergy... which I suspect is an effect of the iodine displacing or liberating some massive toxic build up they have. At any rate some people have a very serious reaction to iodine supplements or even topical iodine. Then again I have been doing a liver detox regimen for several years. There is also supposedly Hashimoto's disease, which doesn't seem related but many claim it is. Basically people are saying they are allergic to a substance that is necessary for life LOL Anyways, FWIW, I am not a Dr.

@CountryGeek-hr8tk
@CountryGeek-hr8tk 8 ай бұрын
@@lesliehunter1340 Yes, exactly 15 drops in a glass of lemon water in the morning, then again later in the day. Lemon water helps cover up any taste. *Please be careful at first*, some people have a bad reaction to iodine. This is very likely due to toxins built up in one's body from processed foods. I've been on a liver detox regimen for years, and haven't been drinking sodas for 20 years. I would suggest trying ONE drop in a glass of water the first time, and make that the only one for a day or two and see how you feel. I did one drop in a glass of water two times a day for a couple years before I went to the larger amount. Liver detox must be done slowly, I'm probably there but its become habit :)

I've heard that for iodine drops, Deep Earth Crystal Iodine is the most pure form of iodine, and is safest for oral consumption. I also use it for cuts to treat them. I'm a service technician, and my hands take a beating from the constant washing of them between each service call. The winter months are are brutal on them, and the fingers get deep dry weather cracks. The difference in the severety of the cracks, and the healing time, is remarkable when I treat them at the onset with iodine. I remember as a child, the doctor always had a bottle of iodine for wounds. I haven't seen iodine in a doctors office for many years.

To put it bluntly. I am just 54 and my hair went grey very quickly (what felt like overnight) over the course of a few months a few years ago ... I’m am now LCHF Keto and my hair doesn’t fall out like it used to still have hair loss but not like I used to. I still have my full length eyebrows. Re fluid retention since being LCHF Keto I rarely get fluid retention in my hands where as previously I had it a lot. I still seem to get some in my legs (ankles & knees) but not always as it comes and goes. I think that might be due to lack of regular exercise, quality sleep and lack of sunshine since I’m indoors a lot and sedentary at the computer consuming science info on health and food. MacGregor Mathers Thank you for sharing your time with me. It is possible I have Raynauds as I was diagnosed with SLE in 1989 but have no sign of it at all anymore. Since posting here I have joined with a company who has a liquid stabilised molecule that is scientifically evidenced and in studies on pubmed. I now drink REDOX SIGNALLING MOLECULES everyday. I am not as cold as frequently and I am reservedly excited! The product is only available thru direct marketing which many people hate but it was done this way because BIG Pharma offered to buy the technology with the provision its owner remove everything from the public domain. The choice was to democratise the access to this health transforming tech stabilised by an Atomic Medical Physicist (a very clever man) Gary Samuelson, who accomplished what science said was the impossible. If only I could alert Dr Berry to this without him thinking I’m a bad person. Yes there is a business strategy attached to the referral of people and product; but this is everywhere when we buy anything someone makes a commission. It’s just a different vehicle and it between people who really care about each other’s quality of health and life. So thank you for pointing out Raynauds. But I’m a rebel and I will not do harsh chemical drugs. If I can support my body with its Redox Messengers that turn on 5 of the gene pathways (to be known at this stage - still emerging science) I will go that path. I thank you so very much for caring enough to comment to me 💖

White "Table salt" has had everything good removed. Ancient deposits where pink Himalayan salt and Celtic Salt and Real Salt (TM) comes from are essentially a broad spectrum mineral supplement. I cut out sea salt due to new info on nanoplastics being leeched into the water from all the plastic garbage in the oceans today. Lugol's Solution easy used for many years, and it was standardized to 12.5 mg of Iodine (5.0 mg elemental Iodine plus 7.5 mg potassium iodide) per drop. Today there is a tablet form called Optomox. I have taken it for probably two decades, I am 70 years old, and I get a blood test every 3 months (on antibiotic for Lyme disease). My doctors comments as we go over my blood work are "You have the kidneys of a ten year old." and "Your liver function could not get any better." which is great, but I still have hypothyroidism, so I am on Armour Thyroid supplement. I still want to kick start the thyroid and have it working right, buy I have only read one account of someone doing that. We'll see what happens. BTW in Dr. David Bernstein's book _Iodine: Why We Need It and Why We Can't Live Without It_, he states the Japanese ingest 36 mg to 39 mg of iodine daily from their diet, and they have the lowest breast and prostate cancer rates in the world. The brands above are technically "sea salt", too, but they are from ancient deposits formed long before moder humans started making so much trash and as a result polluting so heavily.

I am gonna order some supplements now and I am pretty positive that it will help. Thanks once again for so well researched videos. Godspeed!

I made the same mistake with pink Himalayan salt (not realizing I was becoming iodine deficient using it). It sure is tasty though. :)

Great video, as always!! I wish I had known about iodine when I was pregnant… but at least I know now! Thank you for keeping us informed in the space where other medical doctors would rather us be kept in the dark!! 🎉❤

As a child - teenager I had a lot of respiratory problems: pneumonia, bronchitis, etc. I literally grew up in pharmacies where my mother worked. I consumed a lot of liquid cough medications. E.G. Quilidrine et al. I started having the skin on the inside of my mouth peel off. Either a doctor or a pharmacist told my other that that was an iodine allergy , and that most all medications that had " ine" on the end of it's name had iodine in them. I stopped taking those meds and my mouth got ok. .... SO fast forward to when I am an old man ( now) and computerized medical records track all your info. At somewhere down the line in the standard inquiry I had listed under allergies: " Iodine". and that has followed me like a criminal conviction. For example, I have some heart problems, crohns, & other things. When I need something requiring a radio graphic " tracer" such as a Heart cath. They nearly drive me crazy with things like requiring me to take a regimen of prednisone before a procedure and charging me more for alternative tracers. I'm not sure if this allergy even exists. I have self performed some skin tests and have gotten slight responses. But it sure can be a hassle and seems to be as hard as a murder conviction to get OFF my record.

Edgar Cayce has mentioned this in his "readings" many times. I find it very interesting that as a man with very little formal education, and given the time frame when he was giving his readings, was so spot-on when it comes to human health. He said to eat very little red meat, no pork, and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. He also said to avoid vitamin supplements unless absolutely necessary, and then only take them for a short period of time, otherwise you would interfere with your body's natural processes for making them. Anyway, thanks Dr for the very important video.

Greetings, I would rather say it this way… Edgar Cayce had little “schooling.” It’s obvious by his spot on recommendations that he was indeed “educated.”

My mom used the iodine cream trick. Smear a small bit on your thigh, if your body soaks it in and barely any color is left, then you need iodine. Remember we had these creams for wounds.

WHO did a big study into iodine in 1989 it’s on the Internet. They knew how important it is so they took it out of bread in my country and took it out of the chemist and stopped talking about it because there’s no money in it for the pharmaceuticals companies, but I’m guessing at this stage that won’t surprise you.

It has come to my attention the nutritional fact that soy and green tea is binding iodine..if this is true, it means that while the Chinese and Japanese diets contain massive amounts of iodine, comparing to the Western diet, they also consume quite a lot of soy sauce and green tea, daily.Thus, we can assume that excessive iodine absorption is controlled. The question is, how we can really calculate the right amounts of iodine, for real Health. Really interested in your opinions Doctor. Thank you

I bought Iodine droplets from Amazon. I take 3 drops everyday. I have lost and kept weight off. My hair and beard has grown thicker. I do feel like I don’t have so much fatigue. I work nights. I used to crave lime and salt. Now I dont. This stuff works guys.
