I dont know how to go back to my previous questions for the answers. gallagherkelleys@gmail I started fasting the 16/8 right away. Hasnt really fiven me hunger pangs. I did only start keto about 3 weeks ago. 1 year ago I started a high protein diet and lost a lot of weight. I like the keto better because I feel more full. How will it affect me if I continue the 16/8 IF even though I did that right away? I need to lose 30 more pounds.

Vitamin D: Critical for overall health and hormone production. He recommends 2,000 to 5,000 IU daily, particularly for those far from the equator. Magnesium: Many people are deficient in magnesium, which regulates bodily functions. He suggests 250-500 mg of magnesium citrate or glycinate, ideally at bedtime. Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Essential for those not on a ketogenic or high-fat diet. He advises 2-3 grams of fish oil daily. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10): Particularly important for those on multiple medications. Dosage can range from 100 to 800 mg depending on prescription usage. Zinc: Helpful for men’s testosterone regulation and for those with reduced taste or smell. He recommends 25-50 mg daily. B-Complex Vitamins: Necessary for vegetarians or those not eating enough quality meat. He advises a supplement with 1,000 mcg of B12. Vitamin K2 (MK4 form): Aids in bone health, and with vitamin D, can help prevent osteoporosis. The recommended dose is 200 mcg daily.

Great list Dr. Berry, I would to suggest 2 others. For K2 - wk7 version has a better half-life than wk-4 (I take both - Liver is the best), current studies of K2 are of higher doses (0.2mg+). Not sure why this one wasn't considered essential, most people do not get enough Boron in their diet. It is involved in many processes, and taken in moderate amounts with your suggested list will provide many benefits (Strong Bones - No Osteopenia, Reverse Arthritis, Increase D Serum levels, and Testosterone)

Dr Berry my husband and I have been following you for yrs. My hubby is your #1 fan!!! This year my sugar addict self decided to do NO processed sugars in 2023!!! I got so much flack. Hubby and I have done 30-40 days 0 sugars and 4 month carnivore a few years ago with amazing results but we have never tried 1 yr. Feeling our best already! His arthritis is gone, my brain fog is gone, better night sleep, dropping weight, reflexes are quick (I never thought that would happen!) And skin has already cleared up. Not doing fruits yet! Only focused on no processed sugars but people think I am going to die. They never worried when I ate chemical laden snicker bars and poptarts! Now they think I am dying. Well, on the road to recovery. I don't want to ever go back! Here is my problem! I love hamburger and eggs - those give me the most energy almost whinin a minute of eating... but my stomach has shrunk and I can't eat very much because I fill up so fast. I am concerned I am not getting enough vitamins so I take vitamins. I don't want to overtake them either. You mentioned if we ate a meat dense diet we should be getting the nutrients we need. What would you say is the amount needed for someone who can only eat 2 small meals a day. I loved doing 24 hr fasting then eat, but I am no longer doing that because I can only eat a fistful of meat or eggs most days. Hubby and I have lost weight but that isn't the goal here, being healthy is... then the body will lose. It took us years to realize that. Also what do you recommend for someone with a cold to add in more magnesium and zinc? How much? Thanks for all you do!!!

I had been taking a b complex vitamin but had been experiencing a variety of nasty symptoms that I had thought might suggest a need for more thyroid hormone supplementation...crushing fatigue, depression, GERD, heart fluttering, insomnia, finally terrible muscle cramps in my feet and toes. My wonderful internist did a lot of blood tests and finally found the problem...very low plasma thiamine levels. A few days of b1 and benefotiamin supplements totally eradicated all the problems. My ketovore diet just didn't do it without supplements. I suspect my age--64-- made my absorption less than ideal. I am so relieved to have been able to identify it!

So far I have kicked nicotine, refined sugar, gluten, alcohol, now I'm after lactose. It's a long road! I was wondering . . . . . is it only the lactose in those grains or is it the whole thing? I was in an accident that left me with a pretty nasty spinal injury and the label in-valid ! When the pain hits my brain . . well, say no more. But . . . when it does I can't eat, sometimes for days. So I have gotten used to fasting. I'm too poor for the meat . . . so ditto for that. What you say makes a lot of sense. I'm also after Inflammation as I think that is what slows me down the most. Needless to say (especially to you) the whole lot has led me straight to Keto . . . I like your genuine honesty and personal style. Taking a supplement that delivers 500 mcg/day of iodine (e.g. kelp capsules) can support an underactive thyroid (which is quite common). Just be cautious if your underactive thyroid is a symptom of Hashimoto's (an autoimmune disease in which your body is attacking its own thyroid gland). In this situation taking iodine is not recommended. You can get tested for Hashimoto's with thyroid antibody tests.

I felt like sheet 20 - 30 years ago, process of elimination came up with "chronic fatigue" ie they couldn't find anything. So I have been reading about this stuff for years and agree with your list. Now @ 76 I am off all prescription medicines. Systolic BP around 130 or a little above but stable so I let that be. I am surprised you didn't include any "brain enhancers" though. Having a wife with with AD, diagnosed 5 years ago and still at home I have an interest. Probably the one you could have included is curcumin [bacopa and ginko also help] and changed the magnesium compound to magnesium L-theonate [expensive though]. I also cook in coconut oil which has a high fuming point. But an excellent list. I hope people hear the message re D3 and K2. Below is the list of supplements (and the brands) I currently take each day. I sometimes change brands if I learn about a better option in my research. I try to only take the highest quality supplements available, based on lab analysis and customer feedback. They can be expensive, but it's worth it to know it's pure and effective and not just some synthetic garbage that you'll pee out in 10 min. 1. Multivitamin - Xtend-Life Total Balance Premium 2. Magnesium Complex - MagEnhance 3. Coenzym Q10 - Qunol Ubiquinol (ubiquinol is the better form of CoQ10 and is FAR better absorbed in the body than regular CoQ10) 4. Omega 3 - Sports Research Total Omega 3 5. Vitamin D3/K2 - Sports Research 6. Vitamin C - American Health Ester-C with Bioflavonoids 7. Niacin - Solgar Vitamin B3 8. I am trying to improve my diet though, but even as it is, my vitals are still good. Yes I forgot to mention that I do take Probiotic-10, 25 billion CFU from Now foods 1 or 2 x daily between meals. Jeanne McKinney ~ I can't remember which doc I heard it from (Phinney, Westman, or I was thinking it was Dr. Berry, which is the reason I'm here today looking for that video), but when on keto you need more than twice the rda for sodium (5,000mg); 4700 potassium (I drink two zipfizz each day and try to get the rest from food); and I can't remember the recommended amount of magnesium -- again, the reason I'm here. Unfortunately, most potassium supplements are in 99mg capsules and you'd need to take a handful every day to get what you need. No-Salt or Nu-Salt is a good source of potassium but measure carefully. Potassium is one of those things you can get too much of.

A retired bariatric MD friend of mine says the following yesterday (4-19-2019): "ketosis pathophysiologically works same as diuretics. Depleting form the kidneys not only water but for life essential minerals like Kalium (potassium). My life-long experience is that one out of 100 patients, under normal conditions, are depleters of Kalium naturally. Lab results like 2.8-3.2 mmols per liter can occur (min is 3.5). You can imagine when those patients are put on diuretics or ketosis ( the same stuff) they lose more potassium and eventually can end up in cardiac arrest. 30-40 years ago, Dr. Lynn wrote a book titled "Last chance diet:" Home made remedy for a strict low carb diet.. 15 people around the country died from cardiac arrest.!! I am amazed, here in Prague, same is going on, without mentioning any info concerning mineral depletion. They routinely putting patients on 20-30 grams carbo diet without any fear. I just cannot believe it. The ketogenic diet must be under a physician's control and properly monitored. " So, Dr. Berry, you have said you take Keto Chow Electrolytes and other minerals, but in this video, you never document how much of each per day and do not say how you personally verify that you are not getting too much or too little. A yearly wellness check blood test might be too late to find out one has overdone a potassium supplement or has not taken enough. I found out that mayo says there are "no RDA or RNI for this mineral. However, it is thought that 1600 to 2000 mg (40 to 50 milliequivalents [mEq]) per day for adults is adequate. Lack of potassium may cause muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat, mood changes, or nausea and vomiting. Injectable potassium is administered only by or under the supervision of your doctor. Some forms of oral potassium may be available in stores without a prescription. Since too much potassium may cause health problems, you should take potassium supplements only if directed by your doctor." They go on to list foods that contain potassium but the list is not very keto friendly. With Cronometer one can get a summary of totals from food and supplements if one logs what one eats each day. Maybe you could do a video on iodine and potassium. Supplement amounts, testing, symptoms.... Sidebar: Keto Chow 1/2 teaspoon contains Sodium 125mg Potassium 130mg Magnesium 45mg Chloride 390mg My daily potassium, based on daily cronometer logging, ranges from 100 to 2000 with (2000 days when I eat alot of kale chips and guacamole in one day). Adding Keto Chow to my water never gets me near 4700 but I could use 2000mg an use that as a target to round out with Keto Chow based on food eating that day.

During Covid, I decided to take an immune booster which includes zinc. I also take Red Yeast Rice withe Co-Q 10 at the recommendation of my doctor a few years ago when I tried taking a statin (no one told me to take it at night back then) and it was causing some problems, so she recommended fish oil, co-q 10 and red yeast rice. I have been taking them for about 4-5 years. I now live a Ketogenic lifestyle since October, 2019 and have lost 30+ pounds since then. I want to drop another 10. What do you think about DHEA and Kelp? Should I be concerned about them. I started taking DHEA within the past 2 weeks because I thought it would help a few worrisome things, but I believe it is disrupting my sleep - I am waking several times a night instead of just once a night like I normally do. I am 69 btw, so it has been a long time since I have slept through the night. I do think magnesium is a great sleep helper.

I swim and/or bike ride weekly. I am 74 and play tennis several times a week. I’ve heard taking a ‘tonic’ made with 2tbls acv (w/the mother), 1tbls blackstrap molasses, 1tsp baking soda and at least 10oz of water is very good for the body. Would you agree/do you recommend taking this? Why/why not? I’ve noticed some of your videos recommend unprocessed salt but in others you recommend a specific brand. Are these one in the same or different? If different, which is best? Also, my mom (and I, but I’m most concerned for my mom) really needs your medical help as a doctor. We’re in California. They do slightly different things supposedly with some overlap. See Chris Masterjohn. Mk-7 is supposed to be esoecially good for the bones. Mk-4 for the brain. I take both. My autistic daughter is doing fantastic on 1 or 2 drops of Thorne's mk-4. I have no idea why but I welcome it. Mk-7 did nothing for her mood and behavior.

Hey Doc, I wonder if you have an updated version of this list? I have been reading the ingredients on these and they have seed oils in them. Recently we have learned how unhappy these oils can make our bodies (inflammation) Anything to worry about here?

Is melatonin supplements good or bad? I have heard some positive things but I'm not sure if it is something I should consider taking.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to help me sleep. Mine is prescribed. In combination with keto, maybe now it will help., Only been on this for two days. I'am hopeful!! We'll see it's now or never!!!
