Wow, that's fantastic. I'm pleased that you worked it out. And woohoo! Eggs are so versatile and yummy and great to include in our diets. I eat 3-4 eggs a day, and recently I realised that I had eaten 7; I had reheated some food from the previous day and forgot that it had eggs in it. Recently when I've eaten pork rinds fried in seed oil I notice the difference in my body; I no longer buy them. Earlier on in my change to low carb I didn't notice it but it's been 2.5 years now so the inflammation is a lot less so I notice the changes more easily. Steve of Serious Keto has mentioned several times that he notices that his knees got sore after he consumes seed oils.

Having seen evil up close during my career I think you're grossly over-exaggerating in calling what the food industry does "evil." We're a free-market economy and no one is forcing anyone to go into McDs and supersize their French Fries. (THAT would be evil.) The food industry should be punished by free-market forces . . . i.e., don't buy their crap. But, in many places around the world, humans would love nothing better than to consume a large container of French fries, a bag of chips or a plate of brownies. And . . . . this has been known for a while and Americans are STILL consuming the Hateful Eight. LOL

@ No one knew for a long time the money that these companies spent in studying the human brain and how to make their food addicting. That these companies targeted children, food stamp programs, doctors. Not many saw that one coming. You have an entire system designed to make people sick and then pharma comes in and offers a pill for it and profit is made from keeping people sick and unhealthy. Politicians are paid to keep the system alive as well. You should know then that evil has many faces. It only takes a few to know the truth and the game plan to hold all the power and manipulate the masses.

YOU SAY THAT YOU DO NOT BLAME DOCTORS?! Doctors are all much better students and more intelligent than I, and I can understand youtube videos. I am at the end of my career as a residential carpenter but I have seen houses improved over the course of my life BECAUSE a portion of the carpenters involved has always paid attention and questioned everything that we do, and we keep improving. How could doctors not be held accountable for not questioning those that have set the policies that they go along with because the policy setters have been bribed? How could they all, collectively, not know, unless they were all just in it for the money (prestige, etc.)? I think that being a "good" person should have something to do with contributing; and being a "bad" person should be associated with trying to take from society, regardless of the consequences on those that are taken from.

I think doctors who advocate a proper human diet could learn to present themselves with a bit more, shall we say, professional comportment, instead of looking like they just rolled out of bed. I would have liked to hear what she had to say about that and Dr. Berry’s reaction, though I understand why he might not have wanted to do so in case it became confrontational. Most of the list of slow digesting carbs are high oxalate foods that i have to avoid. For those of us suffering from swollen finger joints caused by oxalate crystals in nuts and seeds, lots of veggies and some of the fruits, it gets complicated, unless you go carnivore.

These seed oils were originally invented as industrial lubricants for machine use! It takes around 2-3 years to get rid of them from the body. Storing fat is the natural body response, preparing for winter cold, increased darkness and lack of available food. Today we are stuffing ourselves all year round, we lack regular exercise and we often live and work in artificial light. There is also something going on about following a traditional diet, which is related to where we live. In Africa, some tribal communities have a diet of about 80+% carbohydrate, but are very fit with little chronic disease and good life expectancy. Another thing, is that contrary to what people think - we are not lions. They chase around for 20-30 mins to get their food and then rest for much of the day. We are more designed to walk around for long periods, with the occasional short burst of speed. Try running fast and we get often stitch - lactic acid buid up This is because our muscles, we use to move have type1, type 2 and mixed muscle fibres. I understand that one type, burns energy by a glycogenic anaerobic (utilize glucose ) process, whilst the other type use a fat burning aerobic (ketogenic) process, that is far more efficient for long term movement and for the heart. It's a complex problem, that's for sure!

I agree. Also, if you watch documentaries on lions, when they catch something, they eat until they literally bloat up like grotesque, ballooned caricatures of a lion. Humans are built for different survival mechanisms. I think the lion diet would work for the majority of people, though. Personally, I’m not giving up my bacon and eggs. Lol

I think Dr Shanahan just articulated the driver of the "inevitable" loss of muscle mass with aging. Few among us don't accumulate a burden of stressful thoughts, habits and reactions as we continue dealing with the accelerated pace of change, "At least 60% of this (glucose made available by stress hormones) is newly made glucose." Every stressful reaction you entertain costs you muscle mass.

This has been so helpful to me! I'm 67 and have been keto for 5 years and carnivore for the past two years with intermittent fasting and even longer fasts. While my metabolic data is excellent, I'm still listed as obese based on my bmi, my weight simply will not move and my fatigue is terrible! I was worried that this fatigue was just based on my age. After a fast I feel all the symptoms of hypoglycemia. Her explanation makes me more determined than ever to avoid PUFAs, take antioxidants and be patient about fasting away the adipose tissue with PUFAs while protecting my brain and muscles with small amounts of low glycemic carbs.

Not only not sun burning on carnivore, I have burnt myself accidentally a few times from boiling water or a hot pan and nothing happened. Maybe some tingling for a few hours, but no redness, blisters, etc. And no muscle soreness! What's crazy is I can eat something like a cup of berries a day or two after a workout while not sore, but will then get sore from those berries.

"I have burnt myself accidentally a few times from boiling water or a hot pan and nothing happened." That's an interesting observation. I've burnt myself a few times recently and didn't have time to run under cold water, and I've burnt my tongue from hot liquid too which you usually notice for at least the next day, and after reading your comment I've realised that I didn't seem to have any issues the next day from any of these burns.

I disagree on the grains, most all grains are loaded with roundup pesticides which are sprayed on all grain crops multiple times. They even spray the crops right before harvesting as it helps dry the grains out for harvest. I grew up on a large ranch and am very aware of how much pesticide are sprayed on crops. No thanks to grains !

Something needs to be clarified here. @1:03:50 she says that linoleic acid is not and of itself an inflammatory chemical. @10:00 she says that the triglycerides that are being stored are a blend of the fatty acids from our diet (which is considered inflammatory if linoleic acid is present). Aren't these two statements contradicting each other.?

This is one of the best videos I've watched. I learned lots, and it kind of filled in the info I needed to connect insulin resistance to why it started. Makes so much sense. I make sourdough bread, and I was thrilled when Ben bikman brought up fermentation as a way to incorporate whole grains in my diet. I am low-carb. Over the 100g per day, but it should translate into insulin sensitivity due to the fermentation.

I was with her right up until she recommended grains and nuts and seeds. Logically if seed oils are bad, seeds aren’t great either. Maybe less bad in their whole form but still suboptimal. Going straight to zero carb I found actually skipped the keto flu I had the first time I just did keto. This time on carnivore, In TWO DAYS I felt fat adapted. It was near-miraculous and has kept me consistently reorienting to a carnivore lifestyle.

Since I have been on the carnivore diet I have occasionally experienced a weird symptom occurring as an altered state of consciousness that is short lived but very unpleasant. I have difficulty trying to describe it. I had thought it might be a side effect of the one COVID shot that I had taken; but now I’m thinking that when my body tapes into that stored seed oil in my body; that my brain is experiencing the toxic effect of trying to use the seed oils weird triglycerides being converted into a chemical that can’t be used for energy!

Currently I've living this out. Everything your saying is me except the hangry part. At some point in my life I just started being disgusted with food. I'd eat out of habit more than hunger . I'm 60 yrs 280 lbs old, 2 months ago I had a unusual labored breathing experience an was concerned enough to call my wife and then my Dr. ( What man does that? 😁) Anyway I was told to go to the ER Blood sugar 397 I didn't go for blood sugar though, 1 x-ray and CT later they discovered a large saddle emulision on pulmonary artery and a nodule on my lung Ah Ha. Anyway later was told my last blood test said my A1C was 17. I went home and immediately researched every food I could and developed an arsenal of vegetables, fruits and meat and placed my self on a 5 hr window. I seriously couldn't eat 5 hrs. My 19 hour fasting glucose readings for 2 months were 120- 180. My glucose would actually go way down after I ate yet it never improved much until I started removing fruits then after hours of research and video I've now gone carnivore. Still my morning glucose ranges between 94-115 12 hrs. On the positive side at the 2 month time after a lot of prayer partners and diet strategy my 2nd CT scan is free of blood clot and nodule. Praise Jesus. I'm currently priming about to start my second week. Just fatty meat. Maybe to much salt but meat My blood pressure has moved from 138/88 or so probably higher most of the time to a resting check of like 127/72. I've lost at least 4 inches. Not sure about weight I have checked in a few weeks. But at least 30 ilbs. Thank all you Drs for sharing Carnivore. I'm only hoping that my resistance will eventually be overcome with carnivore.

I wish we would use the term blood "glucose" instead of blood "sugar" because when I hear the word "sugar," I think of sucrose, NOT glucose. It further confuses us patients trying to figure all this metabolic stuff out.

This is me. Long time T2D and blood sugar out of control. Was ketovore for 5mo last summer, fell of the wagon Oct-Dec and carnivore with intermittent fasting since January. Unfortunately, my sugars aren't coming down and I can't lose any weight. I know I'm insulin resistant and I'm afraid my liver and pancreas is damaged. I desperately want to lose 50lbs and control my glucose level. I'm so afraid I waited too long.

Just do it it will heal if you give it what it needs and wants.
@LauraB.3356 ай бұрын
You may want to try some extended fasting. That would be (and is) my go-to. Especially when insulin is high, the body can’t let go of fat. The liver also plays an integral role in fat loss. Also, what fasting can heal is miraculous. I’m not saying diet isn’t important, because it absolutely is, and I follow a ketogenic diet, with very low to no carbs, BUT to be most effective and efficient at lowering the insulin and blood glucose, fasting is a great tool. BTW - the liver is the most regenerative organ there is, so it’s hard NOT to heal. Even if you have waited too long for everything to health, and that’s a big if because you never really know what a proper human diet, fasting, and time will do, it will only help to start doing something now.

You may need more fat (like literally buy some beef fat trimmings or eat spoons of animal fats). Carnivore sometimes has people eating too much protein and not enough fat. Most meats don't have enough, especially for women.

@@LauraB.335 Completely agree. Extended fasting as explained by Dr. Fung is the best way to reduce insulin in the body. Carnivore is great for refeeding but if there is extensive difficult insulin resistance try 36, 48 even 72hour fasts.

What helped me was paying attention to what I was craving and finding which nutrient that thing has, and then getting a supplement. Here's my personal list: Fries, chips, pretzels: Salt Chocolate: Magnesium Green Pepper: Potassium Saurkraut: K2 Just check the ingredients labels on supplements, I've found everything from rice powder to veg/corn oils to cane sugar in pills meant to be swallowed. Unflavored liquids/drink packets tend to have the least extra ingredients (if any extra at all).
