Vitamin D is a prohormone/vitamin that facilitates hundreds of vital processes in your body. There are great food-sources of vitamin D, but we are often misled as to which foods contain the most usable Vitamin D.
Vitamin D is bountiful in certain foods, and absent in other food groups. It helps so much to know which is which because your health depends on it. Use this list to stock your fridge and pantry with Vitamin D rich foods. Vitamin D supplement I use: amzn.to/3h5lSvp

You may also have a gene that protects against vitamin D deficiency. My husband has a lot of northern ancestry and has a gene that does that. It seems people of the north thrive especially on animal foods and have more pronounced deterioration on a vegan diet. Within months they look gaunt.

I was a bit sad when I found out you wouldn’t be on the low carb cruise, but you coming to Denmark to help with the obesity epidemic here, would definitely makeup for it. :). Let’s talk.

Hello Dr. Berry, first, thank you for all the information in your videos. I have been eating sardines everyday for over a year and love them. I also like the canned cod liver but Wow!! the caloric value is out the roof (800cals/small can). What are your thoughts on this? Should I limit the cans of cod liver to every other day so they fit into my weekly calorie target? Or should this not be a concern unless I start seeing weight gain? Thanks again for everything!!

I was born in North Queensland Australia where we have 320 days sunshine and about 3 wks full pelt rain and 27 deg C in winter so we are every day in the ocean swimming. I am 80 and I was sickly when little, and my mum had me 1 spoon cod liver oil and we had liver/bacon fried together a lot with veg. I eat an egg nearly every day & only ever used butter. Cook fish a lot in olive oil grilled. I eat sardines, salmon, tuna, herrings, & fresh mackerel and tuna, oysters, prawns (shrimp), and noticed when I went to other end of country Melbourne Victoria where we have just had the coldest winter in 20 yrs (polar vortex winds from antarctica) and not much sun, I try and walk around my big backyard paths in 3 x 10 mins stints when the sun does come out. But I was living in high rise in Melbourne and found I started having trouble with my legs getting weaker, got on to a wheelie walker, but now where I am and trying to get some sun and exercise in the yard (at moment we are total lockdown covid19 since March here) instead of walking around beautiful lake across the road I use my paths around my big yard. I don't need walker assistance now. But my husband who died was Barrier Reef fisherman and we ate lots reef fish and big giant prawns and crabs, Moreton Bay bugs like a small lobster, crayfish, and I was building houses one after the other with my husband getting plenty Vit D. I have grilled fish a lot, done away with the battered and crumbed. But I eat a little bit of everything and nothing is off the menu, in small quantities, as all my family live to late 90's in my lifetime and grandma 104. You can't eat lots of the above seafoods just a little bit of everything. Plenty of vegetables, and lots of fruits in the morning. I do start the day with cereal (different every day) with a fresh fruit apple, pears, kiwi fruit, etc. etc. on top and microwaved 2.50 to warm full cream milk and soften fruit a bit, even though I have my own teeth. One cup coffee morning, 1 cup tea, 1 cup cranberry and orange juice watered down half in glass, and lots of glasses water. No smoking, drinking alcohol, no prescription drugs or vitamins. I get all my vitamins and minerals proteins and carbohydrates from foods I eat. I have 3 meals a day, and every day 3 different things for meals, pasta, a Scotch fillet steak once or twice a month, chicken fried with herbs, no pork, but when invited out I eat anything as one little bit won't hurt you. But no alcohol whatsoever. Lemonade or non alcoholic ginger beer drinks out. Winter lots of soups and stews with rice, pasta or noodles in with diced beef, lamb, chicken, veal etc. I eat 1kg Greek yoghurt a fortnight, and my treat is Old Gold Traditional Dark Chocolate 2 squares at night to sleep like a baby. A 96 yr old lady I used to take grocery shopping put me onto the Greek yoghurt to protect your stomach, and the 2 squares dark chocolate at night, and you will never get depressed. I never get sad. Well, this is very long, but I wanted to let people know the secret of long life is "a little bit of everything, not too much of one thing". I also eat 1 licorice log morn/night, and handful of mixed roasted nuts day (magnesium etc.) and that is about it. When I go out I have a lot of Asian meals because I can't cook them. Norma Condon

Those sources are also good for vitamin K2 in mk-4 & mk-7 which is very important to have with D3. From what little I know, vitamin D3 helps one absorb calcium, but K2 tells your body where to put it. Another rich source is blue cheese, which has a perfect balance of calcium, D3 & K2.

Being busy often makes it hard to listen or watch everyone's videos from start to finish. A suggestion, or a request if I may, would you consider summarizing your video content below each of your videos so that people like me can extract the information quickly if we don't have time to watch the whole video. I think that what you are contributing to changing how people think and take care of themselves and their health is commendable and I want to thank you for what you do. Dr. Berry when my older sister contracted Polio she was 7 years old and she is now 76. When she came home after 1 year in the hospital and an iron long there was a large brown heavy glass bottle with a thick pungent smelling liquid that she had to take everyday. I now realize that was Cod liver oil. It was also a requirement that she must have goats milk each day. I remember Mother and I walked to the neighbors and basically slipped the milk into the house and I was sworn to secrecy at the age of four not to tell sister about it because she could die without following doctors orders. Yes diet and the right supplements does make a body healthier. 🙋🏼🙏✝️💕

Won't suffice probably no matter what you eat. I have been eating tons of eggs, butter, ... and have been always it looks below minimum level. Only taking 4000 IU daily increased my levels after probably 2-3 years to upper limit. I have even surpassed few times and discovered strange thing, not sure if any one have same problem. Instead of having upper limit of 140 2 months ago had 180, way above. Then I stopped for full month to take any vitamin D3 supplement, have only continued to eat in media 6 eggs per day with a lot of butter. After barely one month I have already dropped to 110! Another month with 4000 IU and I'm currently back to around 140. Not sure if it is just me to have some metabolic problem or it same with others. It took me 2-3 years to reach upper limit, but now it is matter of just month or two to go down but then also to be back to top level. I'm guessing that at start I have been completely depleted, now I'm just keeping balance. For now will continue to take constantly 4000 IU and from time to time 2000 IU.

@@mp7925 Eggs elevated the levels? I think varying the intake may increase the storage levels. If you constantly get more than you need the body won't store it. But eating shortly before testing can slew the results.

Hi Dr. Berry, I just discovered you a few days ago. I'm going keto today for the first time (wish me luck), do I have a good chance for success if I focus my diet around ground beef, bacon, eggs, butter, cheese (cheddar), olive oil, kale, and spinach?

I'm going to try and do this. My Vit D test came back as level 17 and my pcp told me to take 1000IU daily. I ended up taking 10,000IU daily for 10 months and it's back to normal. Now my endo has me maintaining at 5000IU daily. I'm very happy for your channel because I am learning a lot that none of my doctors have mentioned. I can assure you they've never mentioned nutrition, which is a sign itself. lol

A study that come out to correctly adjust the RDA of vitamin D sets it at 8900IU. The government RDA of 600IU is incorrect and 1000IU isn't effective when there's a deficiency. You can get much more than 10,000IU from sun exposure. Magnesium is required for vitamin D absorption so a deficiency in Mg will make it not possible to effectively raise D3 level and maintain it. K2 is also important to take or eat along with D3 as these two nutrients works synergistically to transport and correctly store calcium. You will find supplements that have D3 and K2 combined, this is more convenient.

@@someguy43210 Thank you for this. My Vit D 5000 has Vit K and I am more regularly taking electrolytes and doing magnesium bath salts. I'm requesting Vit D test from my doctor at the end of the week. Just hope he approves and schedules it.

I always take some sun in the AM if it is shining. I have a chair out back and my cat and I bond just about every day: summer and winter. That works, I had a blood test that showed I have plenty of Vit D. I read your book: loved it.
