I am a 40-year-old hip-hop head and I could no longer keep my thoughts about this beef to myself! I am a native of California Bay Area and the song "Not Like Us" has become a kind of anthem here on the West Coast. This beef has gotten bigger and bigger. I react to the song with no interruption, and then I break down K Dot's bars and explain the meaning as I see them. I welcome people to engage in a hip-hop conversation with me. Please be respectful of me and others on here.

I’m also from the Bay Area. East Bay to be specific born and raised . One thing I’ve found interesting in this beef is the Cali solidarity . From people in the music industry to everyday fans. Kendrick is treated like the golden child out here and a lot of us want to seen him win. Atlanta is kinda the same where they’re very supportive of their artists. They have Future, Young Thug, Lil Baby, etc but out in California Kendrick alone is by far our biggest artist. There isn’t this kind of solidarity on the East Coast it’s very fragmented when it comes to support I’ve noticed.

I'm from the north east, and I would like to say on behalf of all hip hop fans, we do not claim this glorified pop star. Kendrick is a generational artist, he is a true artist to the definition, and I think more people should aspire to be like him.

FACTS. So many reactors are so used to stopping and starting songs to avoid copyright strikes, that they do it habitually, and as a result, they interrupt the flow of thought, and miss alot of context in the bars.

"I see dead people" - he sees Drake as a dead man walking and his Ghostwriters 👻 When Kendrick said in 'Euphoria' "Yeah, my first one like my last one, it's a classic, you don't have one" - I believe he meant, Drakes "classics" were written by ghostwriters, so his "classics" really belongs to his ghostwriters not him. So many gems to catch whenever you re-listen to the disses.

@KiraBKADestroyerOfWorlds
@KiraBKADestroyerOfWorlds 18 күн бұрын
@@SFsteve if you listened to what came before, Kendrick literally told us what was coming, and why: when Dot did Like That, it was about the music. Drake decided to disrespect Whitney--called her all out her name, accused her of being unfaithful and having a child by another man, a dude in Kendrick's circle, no less--so Kendrick was like "Oh, we wanna involve families, now? Bet." He literally said "Don't speak on the family, crodie It can get deep in the family, crodie, Talk about me and my family, crodie? Someone gon bleed in ya family, crodie" So, all that time Drake was standing in the street, calling Kendrick to come outside and fight, Kendrick was watching him, shaking his head like, "Wow, he really wants attention," and was unbothered...until Drake disrespected the mother of his children, and then he was like "Alright, here we go"🤷🏾‍♀️

Drake is a good performer and actor. He has been acting like a Hip-Hop star. An actor studies people, their behaviors and their culture so they can play a role. They have writers (ghostwriters) and Directors(Producers) who shape the look and sound of a project. When he started playing the Street Guy role he messed up. Along with a few other missteps. This was going to eventually happen. Kendrick has been calling him out on every album since To Pimp A Butterfly. One thing Hip-Hop has always despised is someone trying to be something they're not. He needs to stick to Pop. He raps but he isn't an MC.

Kendrick actually believes Drake set him up… by doing the first person shooter after Kendrick declined and Cole verse was already submitted not knowing Kendrick wasn’t gonna be on it too + allowing him to enter his hat into the ring on this beef knowing it wasn’t about him too begin with. He was collateral damage and caught a loose stray on “Like That”

Dang, I'm so glad to see someone in my age category (I'm 45) doing a reaction and breakdown, because I haven't really seen many, and even fewer women. I was hoping you would catch the "extort shit, Willie Defoe on 'em" reference, because nobody else has caught it yet. It's a reference to Willem Defoe's character in the movie "To Live and Die in L.A." Also, God's Plan wasn't the only Drake song Kendrick referenced in that bar the line is: The *Family Matter* and the truth of the matter it was *God's Plan* to show y'all the liar
@angelsaysmusic
@angelsaysmusic 17 күн бұрын
Thanks for that! Yes, there are definitely some bars missed...I appreciate you adding it in. It's been a lot to process and digest! I wanted to start reactions/breakdowns because of my age, love for hip hop, and because I rarely see women doing it. Thanks for recognizing that.

Hi! Love your breakdown. I wanted to chime in on the Chord/A-minor line. I am not well versed on reading music, the furthest I got was E(very) G(ood) B(oy) D(eserves) F(un). 😁 What I have heard from those in the know, the A-minor on the piano is a white key. So, one could take that to mean he is driving home that Drake is not part of the "culture."

Movie is Belly, and dude eating banana is same actor that played Kane from Menace II Society, this was a fun reaction for me cuz you in my peer group..so ill give you one for such a gr8 reaction....Cole in his apology said i got my chin out, take your best shot, ill stand like a man and take whatever it is, so Dot flipped this by saying Sweet Chin Music and I wont pass the Ops/Ox, Ox is a NYC slang for a box cutter or razor blade, so he saying he wont pass the ops, if they a op he wont pass to send shots, or ops as in option, but the homophone of ops/ox meaning he will give the chin the buck 50....slick subtle quadruple, and i agree with the reference to pac, tho i see them differently...IMHO Pac was a Street Poet, like Ive Cube, Scarface, Dot is a Poet From The Streets, like the Hood Edgar Allen Poe, he is very deep and an incredible writer, bless for this reaction Miss, Thank You🙏🔥💨💐👸

We couldn’t even have rap concerts after that Cash Money debacle. Took nearly a decade before they green-lit a rap concert. Drake might not know that history. And I’m sure he doesn’t know our tie to Pac bc he doesn’t study the culture like that. We still on him about using Dre and the Bay to try and get in on “Started From The Bottom” then shooting that one weak scene in Emeryville like that was really putting on. He’s culturally numb. That’s why he never grasped Kendrick’s angle the entire beef. He’s not one of us.

EXACTLY! That's why I said from the beginning of my videos that Drake underestimated the West Coast. Period!

Appreciate your reaction and commentary, but I have to disagree on "Up to not like us they have been on an even playing field." 'You hit your wife once' and 'you're actively engaging in pedophilia' are not remotely the same. Even with Drake's ghost writers there was no competition, Drake was too busy calling everyone out to even focus on Ken. John Stockton passed to Karl Malone who was a known pdf

@@angelsaysmusic You strike me as someone who has a significant amount of grace to give, and you may already have given me the benefit of the doubt in this. However I would like to go on record saying I am not trying to minimize domestic violence, It is a terrible thing, I just believe the other to be horrendous, and the worst type of evil.

I’m not Native American, but I do get asked that a lot. I’m indigenous to Cali. My people are Mexican and South American

Rap was a way of expression. Poerty from poverty. Drake has no clue how to play the game especially when faced with a generational rapper that can be compared to Tupac in aggression and overall talent in conceptualizing songs.

Excuse me Ms no disrespect meant Hip Hop is strictly a Black American invention all of it. I was there at the beginning we were the ones at those parties putting our lives on the line. So that comment your talking hip hop not black culture makes no sense because they are one in the same.

I understand, please let me clarify, I meant I wasn't speaking for Black culture. I want to be really clear about that. I am a FIRM believer that Black people are the blueprint for basically all music genres.

I see the bible reference as he’s like a “bible basher,” beating morals into Drake but at the same time… literally beating someone with a bible would be wrong so he’d hide it from God😂
