coming from some white boy who is not a gang banger and grew up in Jersey when The Chronic was just released (I'm 50 now), this concert was absolutely beautiful and the unity that happened at the end is historical. Loved everything about this. I grew up loving old school hip hop and this was something incredibly special. To see the unity on the stage at the end brought tears to my eyes. So incredible. Congrats Kdot and everyone involved to a historical night.

Kendrick is the master of setting up sequences of progressively more impactful things. Like a lot of his diss songs, he starts out low, but still impressive, and then built up to more intense and hardcore moments. On the second section of Not Like Us, we all initially were shocked when he came out and said “Say, Drake: I hear you like em young.” And then were shocked two more times, confident that “Certified Pedophiles” must surely be the conclusion of the buildup, and the killshot. But nope, he stacked on a whole ‘nother punchline with “A-Minorrrrrrrr”, and kept it speeding uphill from there. On the scale of the whole beef, each new thing somehow outdoes the last thing. I’m pretty confident now that this music video is not just going to be a retrospective of what was accomplished already, but somehow, it’s own whole, brand new accomplishment that is at least as significant as The Pop Out. SOMEHOW! I don’t know how! But he just knows how to make the moves narratively pop bigger each time, somehow!
