Often it is difficult to understand and accept a new sign design that was only recently introduced. But there is no replacement for experience. No matter how much one tries to teach through classroom and programs, experience on the road can only be gained.....on the road. That is why it is so important to pay attention and not be distracted. You have to not only look what you are doing, but watch what those drivers around you are doing as well. In real life, the situation presented in the video would have the yellow minivan complacent and with the thought process that it has the right of way, and therefore demand that all others respect that. The blue car however is in a hurry and dont have time to wait, so will demand that the minivan just slow and get out of the way to avoid a crash. Here in Germany, you wouldn't have this situation, because if the truck has a yield sign, the yellow truck also have a priority sign. This is not the case here, as the sign you can see for the yellow is the same as the blue has (just with the intersection posting in the other direction). So any assumption from here to there is wrong. With a priority sign: yellow, blue, truck. Without priority/yield for anyone, so taking the rule right before left, well, that is tricky. The blue one would be first then, if there was no obstacle on his side, then the truck and the yellow last. But with the obstacle on the road, it would be § 1: Participation in road traffic requires constant caution and mutual consideration. Means, someone has to take a step back, and grant someone priority he would have above. So, giving hand signals to the one you want to yield to open this knot. I.E. allowing the red to drive first, then the yellow and the blue last. This is case dependent. But, this is the US, not Germany, so it has to be yellow, blue, red.

Okay, first off, why is this clearly two-way road marked off with WHITE lines? They should be yellow. The answer is 1) Minibus Only. Since the minibus has an unobstructed lane and no control elements in the intersection, it has the right-of-way. The blue car needs to make a pass to avoid the rubble, but nothing else (other than oncoming traffic) is restricting it's movement. Meanwhile, the Truck has a Yield sign, so he must yield for ALL traffic in the lane he's going to turn into, which will include the blue car. Of course, our instructor here seems to have a tendency to lean toward the overcautious at times, so although 1 is legally correct, he might say the answer is 3.

I know in Missouri at least, cars entering oncoming traffic lanes are at the absolute bottom of the maneuver priority list, even below yield signs. So long as the truck driver is capable of making the turn alongside the blue car safely, he would have Right of Way after the yellow car. If trucker doesn’t feel secure in making the turn sharp enough, he is then required to signal via a wave through/light flash that blue should proceed.

Yes the blue car is essentially passing, that is borrowing the other lane to get around an obstacle. If the road work was another vehicle he couldn't just go around it and get in yellow's lane with yellow approaching. He waits for yellow to get behind him then goes around the pile. Red yields so that blue and yellow are out of the way before making his turn. Would red be able to make a left turn at this corner even if no other vehicles were present? He'd need to enter the wrong side and then move over when he gets around the pile.

I initially thought minibus only, but I changed my mind. If the obstruction wasn't there, then the red truck would not have to wait for the blue car to pass. The obstruction is not in the path of the red truck, therefore the red truck should not consider it to be his or her problem. Blue car has to use the wrong side of the road, It should yield to anybody who is using - or is trying to use - that side of the road. This includes the red truck. Where this one gets a bit tricky is when you consider the size of the turning circle of the truck. It might need to use both lanes of the main road in order to enter it. In which case, he or she would be wise to wait for the road to be clear in both directions.

Blue would be invading yellow's lane (even if it weren't for the "be prepared to stop" sign, which any reasonable person reads as AT LEAST "yield", if not an outright stop sign. So Blue should be waiting. Red has a yeild. So yellow has right-of-way. Yellow is also straight-thru on the "mainline", so he's got right-of way. Once he's gone, Blue is right of red, (red also has a yield) so goes next. Red waits until the coast is clear, makes his turn. Scenario complete. Order of go: Yellow, blue, red.

Good thing the "minibus" isn't turning right since the truck is on the wrong side of the road in an effort not to take out the yield sign when it turns right. That should have been your question: All the vehicles in the same positions. Blue car continuing forward with debris in it's lane, yellow bus turning right with the truck in it's lane and the truck turning right from the "T" intersection while sitting in the wrong lane. The red truck is in the yellow minibus' way, the blue car is in the red truck's way and the yellow minibus is in the blue car's way. Who moves first, what direction do they move and in what order do all three vehicles clear the intersection? There's your question.
@samubo206 Жыл бұрын
First yellow , then blue then red truck , there’s a sign there for the red truck (Im Italian so i think.. it’s a yield sign?). So the right for the truck is occupied by the blue car and because of that sign he goes last

The truck would have to wait for you because it needs both lanes to make that turn without destroying the sign.

IRL, I believe you being too cautious could lead to future errors for other drivers. As a small passenger vehicle, you can react much faster if something is about to go wrong. But if it is your right of way, the best option is to proceed with it. Unless you're just being super nice to let the semi out.

Yellow as yellow wants to go straight on, then blue as blue is waiting to go past the pile then red as red has to give way to all on main road
@mrmoose6619 Жыл бұрын
First to go should be the person with the least maneuvers to avoid the dangerous situation. That would be yellow. Next should be the person who would normally not need to stop. That would be blue. Last is the person who needs to enter the street. That would be red. Especially since this is a semi-truck and needs all the room they can get... so a clear intersection is always best.

Even though its Yellow, Blue, Red I still think that since both Yellow and Red have Yield signs, they should Yield to blue, while Blue only goes through after ensuring its safe to do so because Blue is the only vehicle without a Yield sign. So while law says one thing, I think that Blue has right of way since others have yield signs. I also think that this is something that very well could vary by each state. This is similar in law to the the left turn lane laws regarding right of way. Let's say Blue Car is in left turn lane with a Green Arrow. And Yellow car is approaching intersection and has a Red light. If the Yellow car fails to stop at the stop sign, and RUNS the red light while the Blue car is turning under Green Arrow, the Yellow car still has Right of Way since they aren't turning. It's stupid, but it's the way it works in IL. Turning vehicles must yield to straight vehicles, even when straight vehicles have a red light and the turning vehicle has a green arrow.

Yellow, truck and then blue. Blue has an obstruction in his lane. He must wait. Truck is turning, he must yield to traffic going straight. Yellow goes first followed by truck.

Red truck has a yield sign so must yield to everyone else. Blue car moves through yellow's lane so has to yield to it. Therefore: yellow, blue, red (1). The real question is how the truck will manage to turn without breaking something.

Even if the truck was replaced with another vehicle, they would still have to wait for the yellow minibus to go and then the blue car, before they make their turn. So, in actuality, the descriptions don't matter, since the perpendicular lane opposing the straight road has a yield sign
@nekotranslates Жыл бұрын
Meanwhile in other countries, they'd put up temporary traffic lights to control the flow. And then you'd have a situation where they're stuck on red for 5+ mins (which happens) when they usually cycle between 30 and 120 seconds - depending on how long the roadworks are.
@Luredreier Жыл бұрын
0:52 3) Even if the law may say otherwise it makes more sense to be careful. So from the point of view of blue I'd assume Yellow ->Red then Blue. From Reds point of view I'd say Yellow->Blue then Red, unless Blue shows that it's waiting for you. 2:41 Okey, that might be the US laws, but it makes no sense to assume that for blue in a passenger car. It's a good approach for Red though.

by european standards it is Answer 3) Solution: blue has the obstacle on his side thus has to wait for yellow. For Yellow the Truck (red) has the right of way so it has to wait. At the end that means red first, yellow second, blue last.
@insoft_uk Жыл бұрын
In Europe that’s piss easy the yellow blue red, it’s child’s play . Top of the T has priority so red waits regardless, the blue has oncoming traffic, the yellow is on it’s lane and continuing straight it’s basic knowledge that everyone knows

Blue car yeilds to both car and truck because the obstruction is in the blue car's lane. The blue car has to yeild untill the oncoming lane is clear. The truck would coming onto the main road before the blue car crooes over to the truck's lane, so the truck would in the oncoming lane before the blue car, and the blue car has to wait for the oncoming lane to be clear. But, we all know, the blue car ain't stopping for nobody and careen around the obstruction and bully his way through first.

Yellow because he is going straight and his lane isn’t blocked. After that, I’d say Red because it’s a legal turn. Blue goes last because technically they’re going to have to use the wrong side of the road. That’s how I see it.

Totally agree!! Red is going right..... why the hell would traffic going in a completely different direction that doesn't affect him cause him to yield to them? Just because there's crap in the lane doesn't give blue the right to get in opposing traffics way. What if red was a car? The rules should be the same.

Very easy if you know the rules of the road. Yellow car has right of way,next the blue car ,last the truck can turn.
@mgc26133 Жыл бұрын
Again, a test of practicality and common sense. In the situations like this that forces one of the lanes to enter the opposite direction, the cars in the blocked lane have to act as if they will turn left, whether there actually is a left to be turned to. So they have to yield to the incoming traffic. The main thing to consider is that it is neither the incoming cars' duty nor responsibility to stop and wait, unless there is an officer telling or signalling them to do so. If uncontrolled, whether they choose to move a little right themselves and make space for 2 vehicles, even if possible, is their prerogative. They aren't obligated to. So in this situation, the car will only yield to the minibus. Because the truck has to yield to both, because it is trying to enter a main road.

@parmentier7457 Жыл бұрын
In the case of the Netherlands, the red truck comes from the right and therefore has priority. Also, there are no triangles or a line on the truck's street, so it doesn't have to stop. After that, the yellow minibus is allowed to drive. The blue car has an obstacle in its direction, so it has to let everyone go first anyway.
@TonboIV Жыл бұрын
From the shape, the sign in front of the Truck should be "yield", and since the blue car has neither a yield nor stop sign, it is on the main road and has priority over traffic on the side road, at least here in North America.
@milliedragon4418 Жыл бұрын
It doesn't really matter what the signs are you have to look at the logic. I get in this video is trying to teach you the roads and and what they mean. But there is no way that truck hood has passed without creating a collision. The blue car would have created either a block and an multi car accident. Should have been more signs and and traffic cones indicate work to avoid the situation altogether. But hey that sometimes happens sometimes poor road signs/hazard happen. You have to look at it as a defensive driver standpoint. Allowing the yellow van to pass makes bc the van has straight line of sight. This is also going to make it faster to leave.
@emstorm73 Жыл бұрын
Well, I don't think we can properly answer the question until we know whether it's the yellow minibus or the blue truck that is going in the wrong direction. That road has a white dashed line on it: it's a one-way street.

What do the signs that do not comply with the Geneva Convention mean? The signs are similar all over the world, except in one country. guess 1 ) The shape of the 1st and 2nd signs shows that this street has the right of way. The 3rd sign shows the image for a construction site but the shape is wrong. The give way sign in front of the truck can be recognized by its shape. Oncoming traffic has the sign telling them that this road has the right of way.

Though the rule in America is that you give way to traffic approaching from your right, this is not a cross road, it's a T junction, so that doesn't apply to the van here, only the truck does it apply. So the Yellow van has the right of way. The blue car would normally have the right of way, but in this case it has its lane blocked, the car is stopped and needs to leave its lane and drive on to oncoming traffic, therefore it needs to wait till the way is clear. The Truck cannot proceed till the car moves on, because of the wide angel the truck needs to take, so because of this the car gets precedence over the Truck.

if you see this situation in real life, you need to call the road authority. that is a completely illegal work zone. plus that truck couldn't make that turn even without the pile, so i assume he is illegally travelling on a no truck route. blue needs to wait for oncoming traffic to pass, and the truck needs to rethink his carreer choice, because he is not making that turn without taking out the sign and tearing up that lawn. this kind of work zone at the very least needs one flagperson, then there is no question who goes when. but yeah, if the truck was a car, he has a yield sign, so he waits until the road is clear. the guy in the obstructed lane waits for the oncoming lane to be clear. so, green, blue, then red.
