Another good field is commercial banking. Very lucrative and the work life balance is excellent. Starting pay is about 70k with a 10-15% bonus. 3 years later you’ll be at low to mid 100’s all in. As you move up you’ll easily clear 200-400k.

@@raphaellechat2339 it’s not as hard as getting into investment banking, but it’s still hard. All jobs are hard to get! It’s easier if you know someone on the inside. Best place to work in CB is probably Charlotte NC, USA. They pay really well and cost of living is cheap.

I would have probably rated Entrepreneurship a bit differently, Hours 1 Star yes, Early Salary is low as you build your business but if you do manage to succeed it will be much higher than all the others. Difficulty I would have rated at 5 stars since most startups fail within their first year and you have to work your ass off basically the entire time.
@jamesspeakman128

I think the difficulty tag was in regards to how difficult the job is to land - starting your own business requires no application process and therefore has a low difficulty rating on this scale :)

I work in media, and I'm well aware of the differences between my own industry, and the finance sector across the Thames, but I'd be so interested to know how the UK and US compare in terms of pay. The difference won't be as astronomical as it is for Doctors, but I imagine that it's still huge.

@@saachikanchan6276 I'm not in Medicine, but for a qualified Doctor in their first 10 years, in the US the pay is likely to be 2-4x what a UK Doctor earns. You seem to see things very binary, either working at a Giant Corp or start a risky tech startup yourself. There are shades in between those. To name a few: - Work at a small/middle size company. - Start a less sexy business that isn't as risky as a tech startup. - Buy and take over an existing business.
@KenjiExplains

I picked 5 popular paths for business students... To your points, how can I break down how much a career at a small or middle sized company will get in salary, the work hours or the skills for the role? It's just too generic. All startups are risky...even restaurants fail more than they succeed in the medium run. As for buying and taking over an existing business, what kind of a career for business students is that? That's not a career path and it's not realistic students can buy a business.
