I was in the military couple of years ago, sometimes they made us train "static", basically means you just stand at attention for X amount of time. Everybody hated it, I liked it, since I was just playing some Iron Maiden songs in my head. That was also a good way to keep track of time, since, obviously, I knew how long given song is.

I do believe he may form an interest in the genre now. I started out as a lead soprano in my school choir until my voice broke. The next time I was moved to sing on stage in public was after seeing Iron Maiden live had enthused me to start my own metal band, The Uninvited (not to be confused with the American metal band of the same name, of whom we'd never heard, and this was before the World Wide Web). The band lasted a fantastically enjoyable eleven years. And I still love metal above all other musical genres, Iron Maiden above all other metal bands, and Hallowed Be Thy Name above all other metal songs, closely followed by Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Powerslave, Flight of Icarus and Alexander the Great (which they've never played live AFAIK).

As a guy that's been listening to Maiden for 35 years, it's always awesome to see someone's first reaction to it. Every member of that band is a finely tuned machine perfected for around 50 years of playing together. Watching my own kids reaction to it was incredible. When it's possible, you should really get out to a live concert. Bruce Dickinson still has all the energy of a cocaine riddled 18 year old somehow. But a live Maiden show is definitely life changing. It gives you some perspective on the band to listen to the first 6 albums of their discography.. Iron Maiden, Killers, Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Live after Death.. In those albums you can physically hear the evolution of the band. From a talented pub band that started out playing punkish rock n roll in the first album with Paul Di'anno on vocals , to really they're commitment to being a metal band in the second album, then they fire Di'anno before the 3rd album and bring Bruce Dickinson on and the whole thing explodes, and the talent starts to get better and better.. It's like listening to the Lord of the Rings trilogy spread out over 6 albums.

As for Iron Maiden in general, one of the first heavy metal bands, doing this since the late 70s! This and Revelations will always be my favorite Bruce vocals. Along with all the rest! 😂 Please check out more!! And someone mentioned Stargazer by Rainbow with Dio. I second that one.

Absolutely LIVE! My 1st Iron Maiden concert was in 1984. The entire band has phenomenal musicianship! Bruce was always spot-on! His voice has aged naturally over the years and he battled throat cancer. At over 60, he can still run up, down and around the entire stage and sing to huge crowds.

Melissa Montag, '84 was the first time for me, too. I had their albums, just had to wait for a tour to come my way! 😁 Saw them in August of 2019, and they just never disappoint! 🤘💖

Live from that show. Dickinson did not have vocal training he is a natural and has an estimated vocal range of 4.25 octaves. His voice led to the nickname "The Air Raid Siren" Also all of their songs are basically epic stories...

You picked the best recording of their best song. Yes, you missed out on a great band. This arrangement was the closest to the studio version as I've ever heard. You'll find out the tempo on most of their live songs gets unreal. I.M. has a long string of hit songs. Check out Some of these: Fear of the Dark, Wasted Years, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, The Number of the Beast, are among the beast (Note, early recordings have better vocals than more current ones). Also, check out the stage show too. Eddie lives!! lol.

Maiden definitely overdid it on the touring back in the day after 82. Bruce kinda reinvented himself tho after he left maiden tho. Lole from Balls to Picasso to book of souls, he sounded pretty much the same. Since the cancer his voice had gotten deeper, but we got to give him a break on that one!
@timhendrix68674 жыл бұрын
Agreed on the vocals on this track being the best.. Older age Bruce is still epic but you can see he has lost a few steps. His voice has held up better than most.

i would argue his vocals oon this show were better than the studio version's , (a rare thing indeed) if i was IM i'd have remixed the studio tape using audio from this concert , for this song.

@Noah Sikorski I saw them last year on the Legacy tour, and he sounded great IMO. He had more trouble on the Slavery tour back in '84, to be honest.

There is almost no crowd atmosphere quite like what it’s like to be a at Maiden gig when they play ‘Fear Of The Dark’. It’s spine tingling to be in a crowd of your fellow Maiden family all howling that together. It’s one of those moments that will stay for you forever. Much like seeing Nightwish play a ‘Ghost Live Score’ the first time. I’ll never forget it.

I got a bit cucked with my debut fotd performance. Some ice addict decided to punch up my area of the pit for half the song. Course bruce told him to get backstage so he could beat thd crap out of him so it was definitely memorable

Hey man I’m loving the reaction. However, just one small critique. When you pause to give your feedback it’d be nice if you rewound the clip by 5 or 10 secs just to make up for any lost momentum of the song. Other than that I loved it! Keep em coming!!!

It’s great to see and hear someone who finally realizes what so many have known for decades. He still does very well for a well worn voice and surgery to his mouth. The showman ship has been 2nd to nooooooone since... Well this tour, which was his first. Thankfully the management team captured these shows. To me is seems like there may have been some ambient noise captured as well. Well #uptheirons as they say... ciao!
