Kenmore Model 1914 - Zig Zag Sewing Machine always has a summary of what to do to achieve each particular stitch at the top of the instructions. For instance, it states first: Monogramming, then Settings and lists Special Stitch Selector Dial - Zigzag Stitch position. Stitch Width Control - 1 to 2. Stitch Length Control - 0. Pressure Regulator - 0 (Release. Find Dogs - Up. Use Zig Zag needle plate. Monogramming will always be easier and look better if you use an iron-on interface under the section of fabric where you are sewing the initials or message.

Just curious, does your 158.1914 machine use the #41704 monogrammer? I'm currently making a list of all Sears Kenmore monogrammers to help out anyone who owns one.

What kind of foot are you using? I got that one with my kenmore 1419 set used but I've been having a hard time identifying it. Also, is there any chance you'd be willing to share a digital copy of the monogrammer manual. I never got one with my set. Thanks!

I think that the Singer is easier to set up. But the Kenmore makes it easier to align subsequent character because it is built in. They both give excellent results, just work slightly differently.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement front cover? I have the buttonhole cover and I have the monogrammar cover. I do not have a smooth front cover. I haven't been able to find one anywhere.

Are there any monogramming attachments out there that are universal to fit machines besides slant shank singers or kenmore branded machines? I have a singer buttonholer that fits my pfaff 130. I'd like a monogrammer that would fit it too.

Yes, there is a Singer version for short shank vertical needle. It says vertical needle on the box. I am not aware of a high shank version.

The top part is likely to fit, but you will need the bobbin drive part which fits your machine. You likely have this already if you have the buttonholer for the machine.

Sorry for the delay. It is bizarre, but the only place which I found the model number is on the instructions. P#41704 -- I cannot see it stamped on the device itself.

Please help me figure out what type of machine to get in order to use this monogrammer. I have a Baby Lock machine and I'm willing to buy a used sewing machine in order to use this monogrammer (someone offered the monogrammer to me) But how can I tell if it compatible (I have very elementary knowledge about sewing machines)

The monogrammer requires two parts. The plate which fits the machine and the monogrammer itself. Can you see a number on the plate. It will have an arm that cranks and springs back. That then identifies the machine which it fits.

Teresa, with Kenmore machines it is about having the right connector to the bobbin area for your machine. The standard one is for the buttonholer, and this is what makes it move. So if you have the right bobbin area, it should fit on your machine whether it is a low, high, or super high shank.

Having difficulty attaching the monogram foot, took off the thread cutter since it seemed to be in the way and still no luck. Any suggestions? Thank you.

@@teresayoung3753 What is preventing it? Have you lifted the foot using the hyperextension to get it as high as possible? Have you loosened the wrench bit? Sometimes it is too tight for some of the feet. I have adjusted mine a bit so that all of my feet fit. There is a little nut that can be loosened to make it all work.

It is easier to wait to attach the presser foot until after you place the monogrammer attachment in place.

Do you know which Kenmore monogrammer interchanges with singer? The cams is what I mean?

The SInger and Kenmore cams do look very similar. I have not tried to see if they are interchangeable. I will test this out and produce a video soon showing the results.

James Rogers thanks so much! I have been trying to gather up the cams for the singer. A seller on Etsy claimed they was interchangeable. But I noticed there was 2 kinda of Kenmore monogrammers. One with the round hoop like yours, and another with a square type hoop more similar to a Singer. Thanks for your time!!

There is one other type of Kenmore monogrammer which I do not have which attaches to the presser foot in the same way which the Singer does. That model may be interchangeable.

That’s what I am wondering. But if you do see those kids for sale it seems they’re like the Singer in that most folks only have 3-4 cams.

I used this on my 158.1914. There is some interchangeability between some machines, but you need to be sure that you have the mechanism which fits your machine.

Do you have the buttonhole adapter (the one that connects to the bobbin area) for your machine? This type of adapter uses the same mechanism to run the monogrammer. It is possible that it will fit if your machine has the bobbin run type buttonholer.
