Overall this did very well. Slow brushroll did much better than I expected👍 What you explained about the brushroll type and sand dropping back to the carpet is something what I have seen some vacuums what I have tested. Too much room between the brushroll and brushroll housing (which is big). Best performing vacuums have chevron brushroll, central air inlet and tight brushroll housing.

Hey Bill can you please try to find a 4 row BRUSHROLL for that Kenmore Elite 31150?

The only brushroll available is the one that is installed.

I wonder how well this would do with stuff under the carpet performance.

Have to say, this was one of our favorite vacuums. However, less than 5 years later and the blower motor started to smell like it was on fire, so we stopped using it. The Part is more than half of what we paid :(

Yeah, this model isn't worth repairing. That's why I picked up another one at Ohio Thrift for about $9.

Kenmores tend to be really good for the price. Miele is good just soo expensive

Here are some semi-standardized testing parameters you could add to your tests: (1) The Carpet & Rugs institute claims a vacuum should be moved over carpet at 1/2 ft per every 1 second or slower. (2) Dyson Laboratory Research says that a vacuum will remove most of the dirt in 2 to 3 passes, and that any particles removed after that will be a negligible amount. - Both of these points are verifiable on the Dyson and CRI websites. I can link the pages if you request it. I think these parameters would give better results. The question I have is, would this machine do much better if you set it to lowest setting or one notch up up from that? Could be set to high but obviously you are the one using it and can tell whether it is or not, or could at least use some lowering.

Firstly, there are no generally acceptable testing parameters. Everyone tests differently. Secondly, very few actually measure dirt extraction from a bin or simply weigh the bag. They just measure the total bin weight or even just the carpet, which is inaccurate. Thirdly, lowering any vacuum too far damages the carpet and the vacuum. Proper height adjustment must be followed. Lastly CRI, Consumer Reports, the EU and Dyson have extremely flawed measuring methodologies. I researched all testing methods for a few years before starting my channel in 2017, so people could see the truth. The entire truth. Dyson wants to sell product just like any other manufacturer and most realize now that their machines don't do very well on pile carpets. The older ones were exceptionally terrible mostly due to low agition and airflow.
