I found Ted Greene on a VHS tape back in the 80's. Got a copy of the tape and booklet that came with it. This video is or was on KZbin some years ago. On this video or one of his live presentations (lessons - he would visit music stores and give demonstrations) he called this book "Chord Catastrophe". Anyway this guy was amazing in his own right. He also put out three other books (Jazz Guitar Single Note Soloing Vol 1 and 2 and Modern Chord Progressions), and also one album. I have them all and reference them sometimes. These books are great reference material for this beautiful and deep instrument. Trying to learn all the chords in this book like he suggests would be a daunting task at best. Just in the first section alone he shows 28 different ways to make an A Major Chord and two pages (14,15) of (A) Chords all the way from A major to A+. He called this section Essential Chords? The Chord Reference "Charts" section is even more insane. I will be visiting you on your channel from time to time to see your progress. Remember Ted and other amazing players like Joe Pass have said. Its not the amount of chords you know it's how and where to use them. Good luck with this. It is quite the feat you have assigned your self. BTW maybe you would like to take on the Berklee Series (A Modern Method For Guitar: 1-2-3 Complete By William Leavitt). Thanks again and best of luck on this project.

@DrMuse-on2dx Wow, what an amazing history with Ted Greene! That VHS tape must be a real gem, and I love that he humorously called the book "Chord Catastrophe"-it certainly feels like it at times! 😅 You’re absolutely right: Ted’s books are incredible references, but trying to learn every chord is a monumental task. I’ve been deep-diving into this book for the series, and the sheer volume of chord variations can definitely overwhelm anyone. Thanks for reminding me of what Ted and Joe Pass said about quality over quantity-it really is about how you use the chords, not just knowing them all. I’ll keep that in mind as I work through this project. And hey, the Berklee Series? I may just take you up on that challenge one day 😉 Thanks so much for the encouragement, and I’m looking forward to seeing you around the channel again. Happy picking! 🎸 -Jason

@gabrielanthony7874 Haha, I know it sounds intense! 🎸 While I may not practice for 8 hours straight every day, I do set aside time for focused practice, recording, and personal wellness. It's all about finding the right balance! How about you? What's your practice routine like?

@@JasonCareyGuitar wow! This is a well-distributed way of doing things. Makes more sense now😅 Personally, I’m at a phase where I’m doing a lot of transcription, so as soon as i warm up with the major scale (and its modes), I head straight into the transcribing! On average it’s about 4 hrs a day…

@@gabrielanthony7874 That's an awesome routine! 🎸 Transcribing is such a powerful way to internalize new ideas and connect the theory to the music. 4 hours a day is impressive - keep at it, and you'll see major breakthroughs. If you ever want to dive deeper into any specific areas or need new material to transcribe, let me know! Happy picking!
