I will share; when our daughter called home from grad school and said, "I am really serious with my boyfriend", "Great dear where is he from?", "Oh, he is Iranian" - I had a moment of silence. As soon as we met him we thought - good job, great guy. We love his family and it has been fun learning about their culture, adds so much to our whole family! Sincerely - just American.

@@cristianviljevac3851 yeah, we are lied to all the time, that we are different, that we should attack the "others" because they're inherently bad and we are good... but the truth is we are the same. There is good and bad in all of us. The only evil are those in power who send us to war against our brothers and sisters. Time we all wake up and unite to fight our common enemy, the climate crisis.

If you actually read history, you realize Iranian/Persian history is highly influential and quite incredible. The Persians were pioneering science and math for thousands of years. From Cyrus the great to Avicenna, to modern day Iranian scientists like Ali Javan who invented the gas laser...

@@stochasticdifferentialeq.1393 Wait what? Iranians are arguably the most successful immigrant community, I didn't read your comment. Iranians are super rich in the Western Countries, none are on welfare. 35% of Beverly Hills is Persian and the average income of an Iranian American is nearly twice as much as an American. Dude. When he mentioned not being Iranian enough or American enough, it really reminded me of the book Twice A Stranger. The minority's struggle is heartbreaking, and I totally relate to it. However, on the bright side, it makes us stronger and inspires us to work harder. off-topic: Maz really made me smile when he was dancing and the song stuck to my head and finally found it. it's called "tekoon bede" by Arash!

Then one day, I walked out of the science building to find a group of Iranian students yelling, “Americans go home”!! I reminded them where they were with the freedom to express their feelings. No, my guys were not among them. Interesting world!
