As a child, I used to envision myself, with great anxiety, walking up to Jesus on the throne after the Great Tribulation and wondering if I would be worthy enough to be on the “sheep side”. That haunted me. I never wanted to do anything to be on the goat side, but it seemed so impossible to remain a sheep. AND THEN the possibility that I wouldn’t be one even if I tried so hard... I was an adult when I finally gave in to my dad's pleas & studied to baptism. Not really understanding what true love & trust was, leaving an abusive relationship with an infant (that I eventually returned to, having another child, because I thought I was worthless to anyone else "soiled goods" hoping he would change & I would have 1 of those beautiful spiritual outcomes. It was the exact opposite for another 5 yrs), coming out of a bad home life jumping from the frying pan into the fire. I too thought Jesus wouldn't love me, I couldn't do enough to make myself 'worthy' in part due to these kinds of talks. Love bombing combined with self loathing to keep everyone off balance & clinging desperately to this organization for salvation.

It's so much harder to be in this cult when you're not understood and criticised or looked down upon for not answering in watchtower studies, because just the thought of it is traumatising. (full title), where all references to freedom and escape from slavery excised, while passages encouraging obedience and submission were emphasized. Passages like Ephesians 6:5, "Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ," don't read well through modern eyes and have certainly been used to justify this atrocity.

Modality speaking, the final judgement is issued and executed (carried out) at a certain time. Trouble is, would God, Jesus or what ever form of trinity or non-trinity one believes, the god or god head would or would not already know what their final judgment is going to be - it's obviously a lesson for us a final cutting off point is reached and that we do not know and should not jump to our own judgments for "we" can not read the heart. All that being said, I'm an athiest I do not believe in any of this. The rush to "we have to have an understanding and a policy on this!" cracks me up.

I was never officially dissflowshiped I just have been inactive for maybe 5 / 6 years now.... The biggest question is: Where are they going with this new light? Given the GB track record of making adjustments to align with their false prophecies, I smell a fish brewing. They shift the mindset of JWs very slowly with a bigger agenda in mind. Before Cooke, Geoffrey Jackson shared “new light” re: Jesus and Capernaum, there was the Kingdom book, now Ezekiel...setting the stage. They did nit anticipate the ARC, Russia ban, and now the Pandemic, all money suckers. Remember, a few years back, they were on a Warwick shopping spree and most recently their very own movie studio. What happened to storing up treasures in heaven? AND NOW, Oh oh, the monies looking pretty tight, no more multi billions under their pillows. The little piggy is getting skinny from all those CSA lawsuits. If the cookie crumbles, these guys don’t have a leg to stand on (e.g. pension, housing, free cars, health insurance, European vacations, and lots of green handshakes). It always boils down to the narcissistic ideology of supporting Jesus’s anointed, the 8 GB members. And let’s not forget how they self elevated themselves above the other anointed around the world as just common “domestics” who need to partake and shut up. Otherwise, they are mentally unstable and added mediator to their resume. I think they are forced to build a new mindset on the fly in order to legitimize their insatiable need for more money. Or, maybe it’s to hide the GB members among the JW masses (possibly due to future criminal charges)? Could it be they are anticipating a logistical shift from charity status to being deemed by the “worldly institutions” as a secular organization requiring taxation? It’s not just to keep the imminent Great Tribulation at bay. It’s more likely to cover their asses when governments figure out they’re not a charitable religion, but a MLM business. Historically, it has always boiled down to keeping the publishing/real estate business in the black. Rutherford saw the need to keep the rank and file JW in the dark about what is really going on behind the scene (e. g. Board room agenda); Ray Franz confirmed this. They have a pattern of introducing a sequence of new light with bait and switch scriptures, coining a phrase to support a very important doctrine (e. g. governing body, faithful slave, disfellowship, live forever, and so on). Like a skilled magician, they distract so no one sees when they take away/add the “ooo-ah” factor. They are grifters setting up the con. It’s just a matter of time when we see exactly why they are making this new round of “new light” shifts, once again deceiving and continuing to brainwash for personal gain.

A loving God that permitted all of Job's herds to be slaughtered, all of his children to be murdered, and finally to let Job suffer from boils, or what ever. Yeah, ciphertext loving and of course, knowing in advance what the evil plan was, standing to one side, doing nothing and allowing it all to happen - nah, nothing loving here. All it proves is Job, at best, fits in with all of the other true believers who were martyred for their religious beliefs. Unfortunately, that number includes people of the very many different religions - and that's ignoring the fifty some billion human deaths while "god" stood by through all odd human history. There are three "wisemen" in the story that are supposed to represent the highest level of thought from the Ancient Near East. The OP is literally taking on the role of one of these three men, using his own reasoning on what is just regarding God and suffering. That is what is laughable about it. He's blinded in seeing he is one of the characters shown to be claiming his own views about what God's justice ought to look like. God answers this by showing how he has a wider perspective on a complex world and what is going on than the limited perspective of an individual. Those like the original poster are not in a position to make accusations about God's justice as they don't have a clue what is going on. Then God goes on showing an example of two wild and dangerous creatures to highlight that while the world has good and beauty, it is not perfect as it is also wild and dangerous. So while the world we live in is amazing, it is not one yet where it is in a stage to prevent suffering. Atheist just love to post their little proof texts , yet display profound ignorance in doing so. Something occurs to me that you may not be old enough to understand. As a senior who was born into a very devout and active family of JWs with a long history in the org, I tried very hard to keep up with all the changes to JW doctrine. However, doing so became increasingly difficult and I started finding my brain reverting back and becoming confused, asking, "Wait...which is the correct interpretation?" Prior to my own experience, I saw others having difficulty keeping things straight. Before I found myself having difficulty, I was judgmental of others having difficulty. I thought they were just being lazy. But then I learned that our brains don't have a delete button. We can't just erase the past interpretations and replace them with the new ones. Over time and many such changes, I found myself dealing with the same issues until, finally, in 2013, I said, "Fuck it! This is ridiculous!" What occurs to me is that the brains of the governing body members are no less human. They're reverting back because they can't keep all their shit straight, either, lol! The same may be true for that other example you gave about the mistake that was made about Jesus travel and ministry. It's pretty bizarre to see it happen in that context, though. You'd think someone would have caught it before it got out. But maybe they're all becoming confused, tangled in their own web, so to speak.

One of the problems with using archaic pastoral metaphors is I have no idea how goats and sheep are different. I think goats have beards though so maybe that is why JWs don't allow beards because that would be goat-like

Goats are capricious and harder to control. They can climb trees and rocks and make it hard for a goatherd to keep a flock of them together. They þ even used in Satanic ritu Sheep are calm by nature, easy to lead and herd together. People are compared to either sheep or goats

My parents sent us to a Kingdom Hall when we were very young, because they wanted us to experience multiple religions and decide for ourselves which, if any, were "correct." My four siblings include 1 Baptist, 1 Catholic (we were all baptized Catholics) and 2 atheists, and I am also an atheist. I remember kind of liking the JW classes, and I still have a very nice looking Bible I got at the end of the classes. But they didn't get any of us.

Why is the big confusion? Verse 46 of Matt.25 assigned the "sheep"to everlasting life after Armageddon. However, Watchtower theology says post Armageddon survivors and ressurected ones remain in imperfect state, but still have a good 1000 years to prove themselves qualified for everlasting life! That point you were talking about (at 18.30 ap) - them saying it would be too late to reform: What about Jesus' parable about (KJ Version) "they gave every man a penny." Jesus apparently saying it doesn't matter how late you accept the good news of the Kingdom, you will receive the same reward? (Matthew 20:9)
