My thing is that probably no self-respecting therapist would agree because being on TV not only breaks doctor-patient confidentiality (even with their consent it's not ok imo) but ruins any future prospects in their career. After the last season of the Ultimatum airs, who wants to have the Ultimatum therapist as _their_ therapist, be fr. The people that come on this show can pretend all they want, but their sessions would fundamentally be different since they are televised, you can't turn that awareness off. And that goes for the therapist as well, they're human too. So what they say and what they are willing to open up to and work on will be influenced by the presence of an audience and I honestly think it won't help anybody. Maybe the especially emotionally stunted, but the majority will just now have an excuse for why things aren't working out- it's a "bad therapist", their advice is "wrong", they're not understanding our relationship, what they suggest "just isn't working", "I tried, baby", etc.

This irritated me too. Mariah said Caleb developed romantic feelings, Caleb admitted he developed romantic feelings, Aria said he developed romantic feelings, but half the audience calls Aria delulu. Like no. It just seemed like people couldn’t fathom an attractive white passing guy falling for the black girl when he has someone that looks like Mariah (white passing) wanting to marry him. In my opinion, Aria and Caleb were more compatible personality-wise. It was very clear in the way they interacted with each other. And, no, neither of them were going to leave their partners for each other. Aria just wanted him to stop gaslighting her. Caleb seems like an emotionally avoidant, passive, people pleaser. I don’t think he and Mariah are compatible. They both needed very different things than the other person was able to offer, but I also don’t think Caleb is interested in doing the work to deal with his emotionally avoidant people pleasing so he went the safe and familiar route.

i don't want to armchair diagnosis nick, but as a guy with borderline personality disorder, i see a lot of those traits in him, ESPECIALLY after vanessa left the show. going beyond social boundaries to connect with the person you so desperately love only to be shut down can really do a number to your mental health. obviously, i'm not using possible mental illness as an excuse for his actions, but i understand his mindset. there's absolutely better ways to go about those feelings but i doubt nick is self aware enough to think of them. part of being in any relationship if you have bpd is knowing what triggers breakdowns and avoiding them while you work on trying to handle those situations with more grace. nick just really needs therapy. edit: just got to the reunion and the observations that vanessa and sandy make about nick are textbook bpd. good lord.

I wish reality shows had separate divisions for other groups so that we can get multiple seasons of queer representation instead of one-off seasons. Like when they are releasing a straight version, we would also have a gay, lesbian, bisexual etc version at the same time, and then people can have their pick. In fact, there are people who will watch more than one version. The problem is that they budget for one group, and at the end of the day, since straights outnumber other groups, they will get more seasons. Plus, why have they never thought to have a gay/lesbian etc bachelor, or bachelorette? Imagine the options just falling for each other. That will be so messy.

So there’s actually a dating show called Married At First Sight where they have strangers marry each other after seeing each other for the first time at the alter, and there they do have “experts” who check in on the couples and their progress and provide therapy adjacent advice. It’s still very messy and trashy but i do wish more shows like this where they have couple do big life altering decisions so closely would have some form of therapist on deck to help out at least a little
