I Was Forced to Leave / Filled with Wildfire Smoke.

In this video, Kenny of All Trades shares his experience of being forced out of his campsite by an intrusive individual, and later forced back home due to smoke. If you're into truck campers, boondocking, or dry camping, this is a must-watch!
This weekend was challenging for me. Friday night I got off work and was exhausted. I fell sleep driving home, so I decided to take a quick 20-minute nap before heading out for the weekend. I woke up 2 hours later! The sun was setting as I made my way into the Foothills State Forest. I have multiple locations marked in this forest for boondocking. With it being fishing opener in Minnesota I didn't think the State Forest would be so busy, every campsite I boondocking location was full. Every Camper had a trailer. I'm sure the forests will be full of ATV riders all weekend.
It was around mid-night on Friday when I decided to pull off into an old forest cutting. I would call that home for the night. I had ATVs driving past me until 2am. I knew this was not going to be the spot for me.
The following morning, I drove north into the Chippawa National Forest. I knew of a single campsite along the shores of a small lake that the DNR uses as a stock pond for trout. It's about 100 yards down a trail off the boat landing. I had just arrived and put out my slide. I wanted to get my camera footage uploaded to the computer before recording my next segment when a dog ran up to my camper. My door was open, Toby was growling and not happy! I poked my head outside and see a guy walking right past me. He never made eye contact or acknowledged me standing there and he didn't call for his dog as it was going potty on the fire ring. The guy casted his line from my campsite without a care in the world. You can see his dog outside my window. I knew this spot was not for me!
I checked a few more locations before finally settling on the spot you see in the video. It was quiet but my bad luck continued. For some reason my audio stopped recording. I lost a few hours of work, but I was able to show a few clips of me building the fire.
Sunday morning my GoPro developed a new problem. It was not allowing me to record anything longer than 60 seconds. It kept saying my SD Card was not writing fast enough. I carry multiple cards, none of them worked. I think the old GoPro is just getting tired.
We will see how the summer goes. Soon I will be posting truck camping videos of me trying to escape the heat, I already miss winter camping. I love the extreme temperatures and snowstorms. At least then I had the forests to myself.

I have land Bro.. 100 acres co owned with my brother. We built a fence and a gate. The driveway is shared by two other homes. They didn't want a gate. Now we are continuously picking up/disposing of trash dumped on our property. Building materials/old paint. Our neighbors don't care...they just want their Amazon deliveries on time.

When you asked Toby if he wanted to go for a ride, reminded me of a story recently read about someone who lost their dog last week. One of the lessons that he said he learned from his dog was that when you’re going for a ride with a friend, it doesn’t really matter where you’re going, it’s all about the ride with the friend.

Hi! We are from Alberta, Canada and we had smoke this past weekend as well. Fort McMurray in Alberta and Fort Nelson in British Columbia have massive wildfires burning. I appreciate your gentle good nature. Its a relief from the bubbly super excited influencers. I shouldnt be, but I am always surprised at the thoughtlessness of many people. You dont roll up on a camp in the woods without calling out. there is nothing wrong with shooting the breeze, trading information and even asking if its ok to set up next door. But for cryin out loud, there is likely a reason someone went out into the bush alone to camp for the weekend Toby is a handsome and smart fellow. He's getting so big! On Sunday evening, he was even more lazy than usual. He wanted to stay cuddled up in our lap. And was whining if I got up. Something was up. I took him for a walk and he was stopping to pee every 3 minutes!! I had Mandi take him into the Vet on Tuesday. He has a UTI...poor guy...but I found out he weighs 51 pounds! He will be 6 months old in a few weeks. I wonder how much bigger he will get. He is a short ball of muscle.

But so too, look how much trust Toby has in the two of you to let you know he’s not feeling well/hurting vs like many pets, they hide what’s wrong. Cats are notorious for this (I have 12), so you have to really zero in on any little misstep to be sure it’s not a something vs they’re just being weird that day. No, 12 cats aren’t running amok in the house. We built a 500 sq ft catio for them, so they basically have their own atrium, and can run in and out all day.

Hey Kenny! Great to see you and Toby back in the woods doing what you do best! Every dog I’ve ever made part of my family was a rescue from a shelter! Those poor dogs need loving homes too! A lot of them suffer from neglect and abuse and they just want to be loved! So for those of you reading this comment, ADOPT don’t shop! I promise you that you won’t regret it! I rescued 4 German Shepherds with 1 hour to spare before they we’re scheduled to be euthanized and they have been the best dogs! Thank you Kenny for giving Toby a loving home and a second chance!

My late husband would only make percolator coffee when we camped. Look for the filters made for percolator coffee pots, they are a life saver for cleanup. Usually found with other types of filters at the grocery store. I would then remove and burn in the campfire to help rid of mosquitoes. Thanks for your videos and loving to see Toby grow and thrive.

I was sitting in a tractor cab & it was crazy how fast that smoke came in. I watched a video a farmer up in Canada posted & the smoke was terrible. They couldn't see a quarter mile at times. I hope we will not have to put up with this smoke all summer long like last year.

Rest assured it is not a house fire, Kenny. That smoke is actually coming from British Columbia Canada. Wildfires there are starting earlier than last year.
