Truck Camper Road Trip in Northern Minnesota

This Week I'm bringing you to the world's largest open pit iron mine. It is located in Hibbing Minnesota. The overlook is located on the outskirts of town. The viewing area has old mining equipment to crawl around on, and best of all it's completely free.
I then set out to find a dispersed campsite in the George Washington State Forest. I show exactly what I look for when trying to find dispersed campsites. I was keeping a close eye on the weather when a severe thunderstorm warning was issued. I quickly changed plans in fear of being stuck on a washed-out forestry road.
After a short drive I found a half empty State Forest Campground on Bear Lake. Campgrounds are never my style during the summer months; however, I was the only camper in the back loop of the campground. I took my E-bike for a ride and made my way to the boat landing. It was another unsuccessful attempt, but I did have three strikes. My fishing road has broken multiple times, it is at least a foot shorter then when new. I wonder if my hookset is bad because of the broken rod? It's probably just the person holding the rod.
Thanks for joining me on this little adventure. I tried to keep the camera rolling around the rain, I hope you enjoy.
We will see you next week.
Wait.....Dont forget to leave a comment and press the thumbs up button on the video. Those two things are really important factors when KZbin is deciding to show my videos to other people.
Hopefully one day I'll see you down the road!

Dang I thought you were finally going to catch a fish and snap that 7 year drought. We'll just box up the celebration again and drag em back out next time. You need to get some nightcrawlers and try them. They are ole time fishing that still works believe it or not. Nice campground and peaceful. Your camper is really roomy. The whole setup is pretty cool. Safe travels Kenny!!

Thanks Tony! I thought about picking up some crawlers or leaches. The small mouth up here love leaches! But it would feel like cheating at this point. It's becoming personal between me, the fish, and my plastics!

It really is. The spots seem endless up here. I found another one over the weekend that blew my mind! So beautiful! It reminded me of High Rock in Michigan's UP. Its definitely a secret spot. I saw 3 people over the weekend, thay all had cabins in the area. One of the first things they said ( besides, no one has ever brought a camper back here ) was how did you find this spot. I won't be giving the coordinates in next week's video, but if you watch closely you'll get a good idea.

Hey Kenny, the wife really feels sorry that you never seem to catch a decent fish for dinner...she wanted to have me help out so I'm suggesting a 7 in shad colored rubber worm set up with a 1/2 ounce weight, then swivel and few needs, then 10 in of leader and a worm hook. Work it slow on the bottom and once it gets hit, release the line and let him have it the count two and set the hook hard...if that does not work, bring that camper down to Okeechobee FL. Where we are and I will get you on about 50 bass every morning and at least a 9 lb with shiners!!! Good luck. Ford & Margaret cook

You guys in Florida have insane monster Bass. My favorite channels are AYO fishing. Fishing with Norm and Lojo. They all live in the south and pull fat sallies out of farm ponds. Crazy big fish! Up here a 5 pounder would be something to talk about. I'm gonna try your suggestion this weekend. And if I'm ever in Florida I would definitely have you put me on the fish.

No. I tried many yesrs ago, but it went over my head. I had a nice set of GMRS radios that walked away. I was looking for a super cheap radio to replace them with. I actually only used them once as a walkie-talkie. They worked fine. I was using the FRS frequencies. I use them often to listen to the weather channel. I di need to look into getting a license. The radios could be a life saver. I was in emergency operations working as a 911 dispatcher many, many years ago. We had a group of HAMs on standby if the networks went down. Having communications is important. I've kinda been throwing around the idea of a Garmin in-reach to send out emergency text messages when I don't have cell service. Getting a HAM license and proper equipment could be another option.

Lol. I'll tell her that. It's probably not gonna happen. She's pretty private and says KZbin is my thing. She reads all the comments maybe she'll respond to it. I haven't gotten much onto our private life. Were not married, although we've been together for about 10 years. We live about 35 minutes apart. Our jobs don't match up well for days off. That's why I'm always traveling alone. I'm sure she will see this later tonight.

It's a Android based radio. I bought it from a company called Phoenix Radio. I really like it. I enjoy playing around with this kind of stuff. There's a huge group on Facebook just for these types of radios. They can be a little glichy from the factory. I ended up buying custom firmware for it from a guy in Russia. He is the moderator for the forum. After installing the firmware I haven't had any wierd glitches. I love the radio. It's basically a tablet. It had the ability to display what your old radio and HVAC looked like with on screen buttons, plus the ability to function as a tablet.

@@KennyOfAllTrades you're too resourceful for me . BTW , I got the cp3 and airdog installed . Nothing but problems : (

Oh no, that sucks! I had issues with my Fass this winter. The original 2 micron filters were too small for the cold temps. Other than that I'm trouble free. What issues are you experiencing with the cp3. I went with the Sportsman. So far no issues.

Do you think it's the airdog or the pump. If you pull the fuse on the air dog will the fuel pass through. That's just to bad. That is suppose to be the ultimate setup. Everyone who has a CP4 and heard the horror stories dreams of the setup u got.

Do fishing licenses travel state to state or do you need to buy a different one for each state as you go? And what about rules such as seasons and bag limits as it pertains to visitors on vacation? Seems odd if you need 52 permits as you travel
@KennyOfAllTrades
@KennyOfAllTrades Жыл бұрын
In my experience, you have to buy a new license for every state and follow their bag limits. Here in Minnesota visitor's must purchase a non-resident license to hunt or fish. They are more expensivethann a traditional resident license. However, there are provisions for temporary licenses. You can purchase a non- resident 3 day license for a fairly reasonable price.

It is the Rad Mini 4. It's made by Rad Power Bikes. They have been in business a long time and are based out of the US. I bought that bike 6 years ago. Maybe even longer...unfortunately, they don't make that model anymore. It has been my favorite ebike so far. I also own an Engwe PT 2 Pro. It's a decent bike, especially for someone who stays on trails and is nee to ebikes . The build quality is better on the Rad, but it costs 1000 dollars more than the Engwe.
