Am so glad that a live-action adaptation of the initial voyage of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 under the command of Captain Robert M. April has FINALLY been produced and released! I love it! This recent era has been a very good one for classic, traditional Star Trek! Let's hope that this motion picture can serve as a pilot for an all-new series that centers on the first five-year mission of the USS Enterprise because this is the type of material that Star Trek enthusiasts have been awaiting for over half a century! Here's to FINAL FRONTIER! 🙂 P. S. It was also good to watch the USS Constitution (the first of the Constitution Class starships) in action!

Hey! Thank you for your generous comments! Captain April has fascinated me since I was a kid when I saw him on Star Trek: The Animated Series. I didn't think that I would ever see this story if I didn't make it myself lol. That's awesome that you noticed the USS Constitution, NCC-1700. You definitely know your Star Trek trivia and history! I'm glad you were able to connect with the film. Please feel free to send me any questions that you may have from the movie.

@Discodoggie True, Kirk did speak of how Pike and others had to see hundreds die due to accidents with basic systems that were now used without though or hesitation of what would or could happen if they failed. Engines exploding, crashes during docking, hulls collapsing from rapid pressure loss, plauges, people burning alive in space, finding dead crews or outposts, etc. "Nasty stuff, Jim. I don't envy Your new job as Captain. Sometimes New Life might be better left undiscovered until we are ready for it." - Pike "Sir, I'm not sure we ever will be. I'm just going to have try to keep us alive until the next shift." - Kirk (Untold Stories from Spacedock)

StarTrek was always a half- hearted programme.. It was always made with one hand tied behind the back of the studios. It was ideological far too radical and anti-Capitalist for them to wholly back it and even worse it showed race mixing in a positive way. Awful, the advertisers were all against it in the 1960s. It was tpo futurist for them.

I'm only 20 minutes into this and love it. Someone commented what these people could do with a CBS budget. Why doesn't CBS stop working so hard to rewrite Trek and hire some of these people that are essentially working for free out of their homes pouring their hearts into these films. You could probably make a series or movie for half as much and be twice as profitable. There's a whole community out there waiting to pay to see real Trek again. Episodes that have depth and not just big action sequences with forgettable characters. Different series that build on each other and grow new characters and stories that are memorable (The Drumhead comes to mind).

@Tony Lewis Perhaps not, that was an out of court settlement that only the makers of Star Trek Axanar agreed to. The failure of STD and STP has cause a Civil War within CBS. There is talk that most of the STD and STP people are on their way out. STP was intended to be their last hope on retaining power and STP is failing.

@Tony Lewis The agreement was between CBS and the makers of Axanar to avoid going to court. CBS said this applied to all fan films. But up until now no one has called them out. The people from CBS who brought the lawsuit are gone now because of the failure of STD and STP. The worse that can happen is CBS takes them to court. But CBS would have to claim that they are suffering a loss or that the makers of First Frontier are profiting off Star Trek. In the case of Axanar, they used private funding to build sets and a sound stage. Then they rented use of that sound stage for other productions. Technically they were profiting off Star Trek. But in their defense they were trying to raise money to off set the costs of producing Axanar. I don't think CBS is going to rock the boat on this one. But it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out.

A few comments: - THAT was a darn good story--as good and often better than what the so-called "professionals" are making these days. - It may look "dated" with TOS-style sets, but so what...the characters and plot make the story. Hollywood has the misconception that SciFi means lots of special effects. - The story left me with a smile on my face, and wanting more (part 2?) - The actress playing Sarah April is a smoking hot babe (and a darn good actress, too). ;-) "Are you going to watch me work, or go captain the ship?"

LOL awesome! Your comment made me laugh in a good way! Tara Ochs is one of the blessings of this movie. If the story left a smile on your face, then I've accomplished my mission and that is the truth. I simply wanted to give everyone a feeling of Hope. I didn't know when we shot this that they would need that feeling of hope so much, it seems like today's world has gotten really ugly, but Star Trek always seems to be there when we need hope. I feel like the film made itself. I love that line also, about watching her work or going to Captain the ship LOL. She is simply awesome. Robert and Tara's chemistry is off the charts. I agree, for the most part, what Lewis said above. LTs Lyra and Tai would send me into warp speed any day of the week!! They are HOT!! I know your budget is limited, but I found that some of the ambient sound ( ships functions, medical equipment and other things ) almost overwhelmed the dialog of what was going on. Some characters would be louder the others in the same scene, made me recoil in surprise. At about the 8:30 minute mark, PSD was used, I'm sure it would be called something else in that century. The plot was good ( I enjoyed it ). Hope you can use the same characters in your next venture!, my two cents.

I've just had the pleasure of discovering Star Trek: First Frontier. As a long-time Trekkie, I was blown away by this film's dedication to the spirit and feel of The Original Series (TOS). The director has done an exemplary job in crafting a movie that pays loving homage to the foundation of the Star Trek franchise. One of the standout aspects of First Frontier is its character development, particularly Captain April. His journey as a starship captain mirrors the signature evolution we've come to expect from TOS heroes, making him feel like a true part of the Trek pantheon. The cast's commitment to their roles is evident, bringing depth and authenticity to the story. The script is top-notch, weaving together elements that would feel right at home in any official Star Trek production. In fact, it's remarkable how seamlessly First Frontier sheds its "fan-made" label and becomes a fully-fledged Star Trek adventure. This is no small feat, especially considering the challenges of working within the established TOS canon. What also sets First Frontier apart, however, is its dedication to the ideals that define the Star Trek universe. The film celebrates diversity, societal evolution, and the unbridled enthusiasm for exploration that drives humanity forward. I think these core principles are what make Star Trek so beloved by fans worldwide, and First Frontier embodies them. True Trekkies who value the optimistic vision of the future and the importance of knowledge-sharing as well as knowledge-seeking, then Star Trek: First Frontier is an absolute must-watch. It's a shining example of what can be achieved when passion and creativity come together.

Sad thing is CBS want to give us crap like the Picard, discovery, lower decks and whatever else they can push off and try to call star trek. What they call Star Trek today is nowhere near what Mr. Roddenberry‘s vision was for the show. Star Trek deserves better than the caretakers who have it today. Star Trek and Star Wars both deserve better they are both iconic franchises. They both have ment so much to so many. We can only hope that Someday and let’s hope soon, someone comes to power at CBS or Disney Who are true fans of the franchises & Hopefully Put them back where they belong. Put the focus where it should have been all along. where it once was. And where it should be going forward. The focus should be on good stories. The focus should be on the fans. The focus should be staying true to the source materials.The focus for Star Trek should be on the utopian future that it’s creator envisioned. We may never reach that. But we should strive for it. Dickum N Lickum the V: Emperor Of KZbin. Unless what the fans want is a good story. With well rounded and written characters. Characters with depth and reality. Not characters like Rey or Michael Burnham. Each character is either from Star Wars or Star Trek and are both shallow, not well written, bad characters. With Star Trek and the so-called offerings that are out there are just not what the franchise was based on. I know franchises grow and change over the years. Unfortunately Star Trek and Star Wars both have changed but not for the better. An example of a show/movie that has done it right is cobra Kai. Based on and containing Some of the original characters from the karate kid. This is a show that’s done well. It stays true to its source material. It respects his source material while at the same time introducing new characters and building on the narrative of the story. He has a good story writing. Good actress, and is done extremely well. Star Trek and Star Wars both can learn from this show.

Lifelong Trekker here. I can find enjoyment in nearly anything Trek; even Discovery (-dodges rotten fruit-), but this was truly impressive. You have reinforced that Star Trek isn't about cool effects - it's about US. It's about people. The story is well thought out, the script is strong, and the acting, overall, is very good (Holy cow! Barry Corbin!). I confess, I was genuinely moved hearing Ms. Nichols'' opening narration. Wet eyes and everything. And again, seeing the virginal Enterprise. And again at the end. You've done, with a shoestring budget, what Kurtzman and Abrams couldn't do with hundreds of millions of space-bucks. I salute you, your crew, and your cast. Live long, and prosper. As a Star Trek fan every since the late 60's I enjoyed this Movie immensely. It really has the feel of the original Star Trek series. I only have one gripe with this movie and that is the sound level variance between the characters speaking and the special effects. When listening through an amplified surround sound system and setting the volume for the characters, then a special effect like a explosion happens and the volume of it makes you jump out of your skin. It's very fun to watch the kids jump when that happens but I'm not sure that the neighbors feel the same.

Then as they started playing reruns of it (still B/W for me) my friends started mentioning that it was bad to be the new guy in a red shirt... then some kids started showing up at school wearing the uniforms. They were in different colors! The best part about this is that they didn’t make the tech better than they had on TOS. Technology jumps drive me crazy. Oh. This kind of film really is the future of true Star Trek. Like many other fans, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed that any of the recent so called "Star Trek" that Hollywood puts out now is rubish. One important point: If more fan films would use physical models and old school methods instead of CGI for the exterior sequences, it would really bring back good sci-fi. I think the audience would really enjoy it, too. I really enjoyed this movie!! I'm glad there are fans who know how to spend their money and keep Star Trek legit. Amazing!! 🖒🖒

@RoadRashSpirit 4 жыл бұрын
I think theres room for CGI, I just wished theyd respect the StarTrek time line, less emphesis on in your face PC messages and go back to the more subtle script writing to keep that StarTrek charm this movie really pulled off. I think Voyager was the culmination of years of development and was perfect. The holywood movies were OK but they wernt StarTrek, just action movies with a borrowed theme and I didnt like what they did with the ship designs. I enjoyed Picard and Discovery but really they didnt work out well, because the essence of startrek was lost and copywrite debacles got in the way. Patrick Stuart was brilliant but the whole Idea that Star Fleet had lost its way.... well I don't think that rings true to J.R's vision. Star fleet Captains are tested sure, but the point was, that as a whole, we'd moved beyond the petty emotions that hold us back in this century. One rogue admiral sure, but not the whole organisation. Making a progression or sequal is always going to be hard, but a mixture of directors trying to hard and a push to commecialise StarTrek to be more palitable to a wider ordiance is whats really killing the StarTrek franchise. StarTrek is meant to open peoples minds to what could be possible and shouldnt be diminished to satisfy the narrow views of those who won't understand it in this life time. Whats more than that, StarTrek just like the apollo misions, was effective at inspiring the next generation of Scientists and Engineer's. Voyager was CGI but it fealt real just as the Next Gen Enterprise did. The rehashed StarTreks didnt feel real, they looked liked theyd been dreamed up in a art design studio rather than Engineered in a space dock. Thats not the CGI's fault, thats art over context and to me was just cheap and tacky. In a similar way I feel the modern stories make plenty of reference to science but again fail to make it inspiring or feel real. The tardigrade storyline in discovery wasn't without merit and I liked Tilly as a character. But Leforge, Data, Severn of Nine and B'lanna Torres owened Enginneering. As did the Science officers. They wernt mavericks, they were proffesionals, Even Scotty who was abit of a maverick, aired competance and dicipline in his field. Point being you could look up to them as role models, cant really say that about any of the bridge crew in Discovery. Again this felt more like charater art than real people. A bit like reality TV. Lets get the wierdest far out people we can find, throw them together and film them. Its just not real because its shallow and has no depth. StarTrek is a delicate balance of science, culture, adventure and problem solving. Done well it can showcase all of these without pushing any one of them to hard. RIP J.R

This movie captures the heart of what made Star Trek: The Original Series so good, updating the human mindset 50 years or so, to make a really compelling story. While I get attempting to be true to the original show, The Next Generation really got it right sending the first officer, rather than the captain, into harm's way. It would have been nice to make that correction. The technology, of course, is limited, but that is not nearly as important as getting the screenplay right. The Enterprise has been recreated more times than I can count, but you went the extra step of giving it the TOS pilot look both inside and out. The characters (especially the Aprils) are very believable, and the aliens actually look like something that came from the 1960s (in a good way). The James Horner score was a nice touch, as well. Overall an excellent film! 🖖😎

They really must not want our money. If CBS could give us more classic Star Trek I will sign anything to join for life! I know I am not alone. All my close friends feel the same way. When fans need to make the Star Trek we want against the wishes of CBS it should be a signal you are not doing what the fans want! That is the reason why so many 'old' Trekies disliked the Star Trek films starring Chris Pine - the original story of a peaceful starship searching out the wonders of the universe was replaced in all three of them with agression, battle and warfare. I personally liked the films themselves, but as a great fan of Star Trek since 1966, I must agree with the criticism.

Kenny, I've been a fan of all things Star Trek since watching the debut episode, "The Man Trap" in 1966. I was 8 years old, just starting the 3rd grade. Since then, it has been my fortune to view every series and movie produced commercially. Along with countless fan films and shorts. This film is one of the best immersions into the TrekVerse a fan can experience. You bring the wonder, excitement and - lets face it - the nerd factor that Gene gave us in TOS. This is what Sci-Fi is meant to be. CBS is foolish to not use your creativity and have you on salary. Thank You for this entry into Star Trek Fan Films. Bravo, Sir! Outstanding!!

It took me a while to realize that this is not a real Hollywood movie, so you can't get a better compliment than that. The opening credits and scenes were very enjoyable. I actually felt like they would be incredible on the big screen. I think what tipped me off (my suspicion anyway) is the small difference in some of the dialogue. I think the creator had very strict guidelines on how the dialogue could be used. It seems like the conflict between characters was a little off limits. It was too realistic and aggressive in parts. I think conflict is more controlled and polite in the movies. But I can't really explain it. It's a controlled formula with many rules so it's almost impossible to follow them all outside of the original creators controls. But that is the only reason I could tell it wasn't from the studio.
