Good job on this technique. When I have students tell me they do not like or hate this one,I tell them not to think of this being used on the street but try to see what principles Mr. Parker was trying to teach in this tech. then techniques will make since

I wish you were in orange county California. As a 5th degree instructor I am always seeking out added moves to enhance my kenpo. I try to teach my students to pay attention to targets and use your principles. To many Kenpo guys are so into doing their forms or techniques so fast that they are missing all of the targets. I could learn a lot from you maybe are paths will cross someday

That cause like Mr Huk Planas says it wasn’t for round house kick originally it was for front kick . Somewhere it got changed and nobody knows why .

Thanks for your comment. I like to teach it for a straight knee (as seen in the video) but the front kick works good too.

I heard Huk Planas talk about several times as he explained just like you did . No bracing angles and improper alignment for round house kick . He stated on Paul Casey Podcast that it wasn’t the original technique but it changed and no one knows who did it or why . So when I watched you were saying the same things so I figured your learned that from him . Love your work been big fan since I started in the late 80s of your ty .

@@samowens3 Thanks again for your comment. Yes, I completely agree with Huk Planas on this one. I have taken several seminars with Mr. Planas but I was never his student. I was, however, a CKF member from about 2008-2012 and Sean Kelley received rank directly from Huk Planas so the teaching is very similar to how I teach. I received my 6th, 7th, and 8th degree from GM Larry Tatum.

This move was not written against a roundhouse, you explained why that is....it was changed to make it “easier” to block. It is just a low line raining claw.

I hate this technique , especially how it's done along 4 ! One time I was practicing it and got the worst charlie horse cramp ! So I asked my instructor what do I do now !!? He said " that's when you pull your gun and shoot him !"

Well, if distance allowed me to do so, I would immediately stand up in base (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) to face the opponent, rather than waiting for the attack to occur while on one knee.

That’s bad advice! Shouldn’t wait for the charlie horse to do that lol the technique is done for it’s reasons, it shouldn’t be anybody’s favorite
