Been to bigger cities like NYC, Chicago, DC, and San Francisco and one thing that Orlando lacks is the amount of big green space and museums that it has in downtown. Orlando CBD has some nice parks but it’s small and far from each other. Also Orlando doesn’t need to build a bunch of museums, they can just expand the existing museums and it will create more jobs for museums/historians/researchers and park workers.

The average income in Florida is $48,966. Why not make more housing for people in that income ? Someone making $80k and I still don’t seem to see anything even close to affordable that matches millennials lifestyle . They are catering to non Floridians from NY and California
@chriskuva3 ай бұрын
My family and I are Floridians since 1994 and we live in Laureate Park. It is a more expensive/premium community that's not built for everyone. it's just how the cookie crumbles. There's plenty of area to live in Poinciana or Davenport w/ that income.
@bradleyphelps59822 ай бұрын
Great video, Ken! It’s disappointing because Craig Collin and Tavistock claim to 'understand' residents, yet they refuse to acknowledge rural boundaries and their role in protecting Florida’s natural environment, which is what native floridians like myself support. We don’t need more sprawl or further development of that land; we already have plenty of existing infrastructure. As Commissioner Wilson pointed out, just look at Colonial Drive, stretching east to west, and all the empty buildings. Instead, efforts should focus on revitalizing and developing existing areas along Colonial Drive, turning vacant buildings into thriving businesses, mixed-use spaces, or community hubs that better serve residents without encroaching on protected land.

Unfortunately, the communities like LP haven't been able to combat RE flippers and seems like a rental "community" now. Sunbridge development seems abandoned compared to what was promised to buyers years ago. Boxi Park is a cool concept, but the food is worse than any fast-food place out there.

What a great video as always. I wish Orlando had more large parks, less live oaks and more palm trees/tropical plants. (this is Florida not New York). Orlando also needs Whole Foods not Publix. Orlando needs a larger more attractive museum.
@brewall131943 ай бұрын
oaks are native to florida, and necessary for many local species. Palm trees are beautiful, but we don't need to go knocking down native helpful shade trees to make it look fake and require more resources to maintain them. Publix is also a local staple. You said that Florida isn't New York, but it sounds like you're trying to turn it into a very specific kind of place like Fort Lauderdale or Miami...

Ken, you had a job posted on indeed to work for your office. I applied to it in July. You hired a consultant out of state to do the interviews. I was interviewed twice in July. Then you changed direction and wanted to hire other positions. The job was posted again in September. The consultant reached out to me because she thought all my qualifications met the job description. She did a good visual phone interview and passed the video to you. I was told there was 5 interviews for the position. So you saw my video but never met me or interviewed me. You decided not to move forward with me as a candidate for the job. I am curious why you were not interested. I am seeking a job and invested a lot of time but you are using videos to judge candidates and not meeting people in person.
