For anyone wondering, the calf's name was Kyara, and she died three months later due to an infection.

Born in captivity for one of these awesome creatures should be ILLEGAL. These were NEVER meant to be in captivity. Fucking awful. So sad she died. The calf is, in all likelihood, better off than having to suffer a lifetime for human amusement...

1:56 soooo cute my heart is melting! ^_^ But I hate the SeaWorld for all torture they caused to these poor extremely intelligent creatures. Those who disagree with me, just watch the "Blackfish" which explains everything and you'll shut up.

Don't watch Blackfish, research for yourself. That documentary used footage illegally from KZbin without the consent of owners and is filled with 3 pages of lies found by a Seaworld trainer. #don'tgetBlackfished
@sladjaj7579
@sladjaj7579 7 жыл бұрын
Please, think logically, even if one of those people in the documentary lies, there are so many others who speak from their experience, you really think someone bribed them to say all those things? It's not a coup for God's sake, it's a real story about how these creatures are intelligent and how harmful it is for them to live in such a small tank! They are huge, they got used to living in the vast OCEANS, and now they have to spend all their life in a tiny pool! Can you imagine yourself living in a small room surrounded by 4 walls without ever leaving it? Also, the water there causes them skin disease and lung illnesses very often. What about the lifespan? Just do some tiny research on KZbin - LIFESPAN IN THE WILD vs. LIFESPAN IN CAPTIVITY! That is enough torture for them, let alone if they are really tortured for every trick they don't perform, like they claim in that documentary.
@ellah3685

Allison Neal omg that is so wrong. The average life span for orcas in the wild is 50 years where as for orcas in captivity it is 13 years. Look it up. Also it doesn't matter that seaworld are expanding the size of their tanks slightly. A larger prison cell is still a prison cell. Orcas are used to swimming up to 100 miles a day in the ocean, even the new and 'improved' tanks will only be 0.07 miles in length. Orcas in captivity are actually depressed. They either swim around in circles again and again, lie staring at the bottom for hours or bash their heads against the wall trying to escape in doing so crushing their teeth and mashing up their jaws. Orcas are highly social and in the wild they live in pods of around 15 orcas, in most pods they stay with their mothers for life. In captivity however orcas are forced to live with orcas from other family units who speak a completely different languages than they do and are constantly moved around for breeding and to perform. When fights inevitably break out there is nowhere to hide or flee which leads to injuries and death. As you said, no, orcas can't just be released into the wild but they can however be released into sea pods for a better and more natural life. When offered this by orca experts seaworld refused. Can you guess why? Yup, because they don't won't to lose their biggest money making scheme. Now lastly look up 'orcas in the wild'. Don't even try to tell me that doesn't look more natural and a much happier life. I'm sorry that was so long it's just something I feel very passionately about. Please please please, I'm begging you don't go to seaworld, you will only be promoting the suffering of such amazing animals, this also goes for dolphins and all the other poor animals seaworld 'owns'.

Alvaro, I actually stopped reading her comments, it's just one of those people who pretend to know it all while they are sooo mistaken. Hey, Ashley, even the most basic Google check is enough to learn that their estimated maximum lifespan is 60 to 70 years for males and 80 to over 100 for females, no research needed at all.

I can't like or dislike that video! That baby Orca being born, that mama Orca with her seemingly effortless, graceful and beautiful birthing, It was a thing of beauty, something so special and reverent, that we never would have seen if not for the Orcas captivity. I absolutely hate Sea World, I've never been and I never will. I've raised my #3 children to loathe Sea World by making sure that they know HOW SEA WORLD GOT THEIR ORCAS AND HOW THOSE ORCAS ARE TREATED AND HOW SEA WORLD BRED THOSE STOLEN ORCAS TO RAISE CAPTIVE ORCAS FOR PROFIT AND HOW ONE AFTER ANOTHER OF THOSE BABIES HAVE DIED. I witnessed a thing on this video that was so beautiful and special that deep down inside I know that I /we were never meant to see because Orcas were never meant to be captive and morally we know that Orcas are not meant for our entertainment. Because Orcas are a living, breathing animal with their own rights and deserve to be respected and left alone. #EMPTYTHETANKS

Don’t put them in there in the first place because if you see when they are happy they’re fins are up and when they are sad and lonely their dorsal fin is down and if it’s not down they are forcing the orca to look happy and if they put it in there in the first place if you let it out it’s family wont remember the orca. And it will no longer know how to hunt. And it will starve to death. These awesome animals were here before us so we are cruel bad people. We have kidnapped them. Don’t ever do this. I’m only in grade 4 and I’m studying to be a marine biologist on orcas. Don’t ever do this. Don’t support sea world. This is cruel. Captivity is not nice.

Hi this comment is like 2 years old but Kyara was concieved naturally. of all of the orcas birthed in seaworlds care, 17 out of about 23 of them were naturally concieved. the breeding program they had was more of allowing the animals to mate (which is an indicator of healthy social animals) than artificial insemination, as it was used for park to park breeding or studies. now that the breeding program no longer exists due to pressure from anti caps, seaworld had to either use birth control on the females (which doesnt stop them from getting pregnant anyways) or separate the males and females and deprive them of one critical component of social interaction. they used both methods. and anti caps flamed seaworld for it. another example of how much the anti caps truly know

Tina Behla Hmm I've seen many animals in the wild. And I've seen how many orcas are dying,starving,etc. in the wild. For example today...I was jogging on the river and I seen a dolphin..I'm guessing she gave birth because I seen a very weak newborn pop up. Then it disappeared and I waited at least 30 minutes to see if it was alive. But no. It didn't survive from what I know. The wild isn't such a thriving happy place...especially the marine environment. It's the real world. They are all with their families at SeaWorld too. Sorry.

you know, there was a time, not so long ago, when we kept black people, and indiguenous people from variues tribes around the world in zoos, we took them from their homes and braught them here to live in a ZOO... look it up, it's not even that long ago. The people in charge argued that these people were well taken care of in their cages. They got good food, and a sizable cage to live in. But then we woke up a little, and found out that wether or not these people were well fed and housed, it was still a horrible thing to do to them, we took their freedom, their family, their autonomy, and what not, and that was a horrible thing to do. now NO ONE in their right mind could be convinced that it is in any way acceptable to put a human being in a zoo, wether or not they are "well looked after". I can only hope that there will be a day when we realise it is also not ok for other sentient creatures. The fact that people are yelling that these animals ar happy and healthy is not going to change anything about the fact that they are NOT. It's not going to change anything about the fact it is wrong. People back then thought keeping those people in zoos wasn't that bad a thing either. There's more to life than just food and shelter, those needs were met for those people who were forced to live in zoos as well... Was it ok then??? NO . Same thing here with the orcas, food and shelter is provided, but that's not enough to live a full life. I that were enough for it to be ok, it still woulden't be a problem to keep a person in a zoo too. Is it? No? well then it's not for the orcas either...
@lucille9348

this is a paragraph about one of the last people kept in a zoo, his name was Benga. This is what they wrote "Thanks to a piece in the New York Times, word of the exhibit spread. "We send our missionaries to Africa to Christianize the people," the Times wrote, "and then we bring one here to brutalize him." (Though in an editorial, The Times also said Benga "is probably enjoying himself as well as he could anywhere in his country, and it is absurd to make moan over the imagined humiliation and degradation he is suffering.")" Ring a bell much??? its the same thing we say about these orcas, the EXACT SAME THING Evolution my arse

Bob Stone: Sea World is not being mean and abusive. They really do care for the animals. Plus they help rescue and rehabilitate animals so they can return to the wild. But sometimes there are animals who are too young, too weak, or too injured from stranding to be returned to the wild and they have to stay in captivity. Sea World is trying to keep animals from going extinct.

Because they're all born in captivity and throwing them in the ocean will literally cause them to die within weeks. And even if they could survive, almost all of them are a mix between different ecotypes, which make them a huge threat to wild orca populations.

Why do idiots keep saying it's the last born in "captivity"? First off, that is a very negative word that we should stop using, period (these animals are in a lifelong hotel, not a "prison"). Second, SeaWorld doesn't own all the zoological killer whales in the world, if that's what you thought. They only have a little over 20 whales in one country alone. Loro Parque in Spain is still breeding (and have a pregnant female right now!), two facilities in Japan are still breeding and have no plans to stop, and China and Russia are just starting with their killer whale programs, meaning we will hopefully have killer whales in human care for centuries to come, because unlike CaveWorld in the states, they don't care what some whiners who know nothing about animals, think about them.

Are you supporting what they are doing in Russia? I seriously hope not, because Moskvarium is the biggest piece of sh!t I have ever seen in my life and I don't even have the words to start explaining what's wrong with that place

I hope you rot in prison cell in China or Russia and you get treated "well". And for the record the baby orca died after 3 months, hopefully you will last longer :)

@@SuperLiasis You are so misinformed half of babies die in the wild.The longest lived orca is in captivity and is over 50 yrs old.You are a misinformation biased Peta scoundrel.You hurt more animals through your lies and deceptions to make a uneducated agenda fly.

Indeed, we need new blood in the line to keep future orca's healthy and sadly, the only way to do that is by capturing orca's.

The animals there are severly depressed. There literally putting them in baths to sleep in all day and night. Like these are very enormous creatures who need to move around. Like that's keeping a kid in a small room his entire life. And gets to go to the living room to watch TV for a workday.
