Hello dear viewers it is I, Hero In His Head- I recently asked you all in a poll to decide the next video I put out and with a massive 77% of the votes, you made your preference quite clear. It's kinda sad, really. Other than her, her glorified personal assistant, and a handful of the "servant class", very few see that their warmongering ways will ultimately be their undoing. It's kinda why in order for the world of Kenshi to have a chance to recover, the shek kingdom either has to be reformed or wiped out

@@kazumablackwing4270 You are forgetting the huge population of shek outside of the shek kingdom. The shek kingdom might very well fall but the shek as a race will very much persist. Its probably a good thing that they lose part of the warrior culture and assimilate to be more mellowed out. That said united cities got some serious issues too.

Kenshi lore has so much depth, I try to tell my friends to try it out but they want to keep playing Elden Ring, well fair enough. No but Kenshi lore is amazing and you do an equally amazing job at presenting it to us. Please keep making more lore videos on Kenshi and Kenshi 2 when it comes out. :)

It only took me a month to get all achievments and I'm 4 bosses away from from beating the game at lvl 1. Elden Ring PvP is dope, but I've been playing Kenshi since it was out for early access. That says something I'd think.

I like the Shek, they may be a brutish and often not very bright race but their honor means that the worst I get from their city guards are checks for drugs and racial slurs, when compared to the BS of the united cities or the xenophobia of the holy nation, the Shek are almost too nice.

I'd argue every major faction is xenophobic. The only reason the shek don't attack humans on sight is because Esta won't let them. Prior to her it was hundreds of years of open racial violence. It's ironic this switch from blatant militarism to their current structure is mirrored by the HN The HN is aggressive to anyone not human. But there is a case to be made they provide the best chance of survival and comfort the humans specifically and as a whole treat their people and allies well. (Not diving into the sexism. I know it's there but even still the point remains). But until the current Pheonix took over. The HN were more isolationst than militaristic. The current pheonix took a much more aggressive and xenophobic route, opting to seek out and attack non humans and their associates. So while the Shek went from Racial motivated Militarists to Semi Isolationists under Esta, the HN went from semi Isolationists to Racial Militarists under the current Pheonix. The UC is its own animal being blatantly classist more than racist. The only probable exclusion to that is the hivers but there could be a case to be made with the fact their military leader is Eyegore, a hiver. But MOST of their issues are class related (can't be clearer on that, racism exists in the UC, but it's usually not blatant racism as much as class based oppression in which racism is used to insult and abuse but its not the primary cause just a tool the nobles use to attack the poor peasant class.) In summation. They are all evil racist monsters and no one faction should be spared as good or even kind. They are all just different shades of evil.

I use a lot of mods as well as custom graphical settings and a heavily adjusted TSUKI.V2 RESHADER. The armor you are seeing is the shek armor present in the Kenshi Genesis mod!

12:24 The quotation appears to be biased propaganda created by Sheks that did not depict the complete reality of why HN waged war on SK. The genuine situation could have been that Shek had been pillaging and threatening citizens much too frequently, and that HN had gathered their troops and fought back. Many gamers may argue that HN attacked the Sheks for no other reason than blind fanaticism. No, Hivers are just as despised as Sheks, and Western Hive is closer to HN than SK is to HN, yet HN doesn't appear to have any ambitions to exterminate them. Now contrast this with SK, who are also quite racist, they are bloodthirsty and illiterate to the point where they can't even farm and must rely on tributes and raiding to survive. They are far more likely to attack HN first rather than vice versa. Sure, pro-SK gamers may claim that SK has no antagonistic connections with other factions, but have we forgotten that SK's entire semi-peacefulness is due to Esata's orders? Have you seen Berserker's relations list? They are at war with practically every other Faction in Kenshi, and this is exactly where SK was before Esata came to power; you'll also note SK annoy UC a lot. Sheks, if any, are the ones that attacked HN first, therefore the faithful Paladins bit back and the fire burnt divine.

Love the passion. If you watch some of my other lore videos. Namely the one om the second empire. You'll note that the HN and SK have a deep rooted hatred for one another that delves back to the founding of each when the Cult of Stobe (the precursor religion to the HN) was repeatedly attacked, oppressed, instigated, infiltrated, and punished by the Enforcers (the progenitors of the modern day Shek) at the behest of Catlon and his Empire. By attributing the Skeletons to Narko and the Enforcers as the servants of Narko it becomes much clearer why the HN holds more expansive and outward aggression toward the SK than say the Western Hive. The Shek are seen currently as the direct Servants of Narko due to their former status as the Enforcers for the Skeletons and the hate between then is essentially a founding part of their origin story. Whereas the Hivers are attacked on the basis of being "non human abominations" the shek are basically demons to them and servants of the devil and warrent more aggressive measures because of it. In truth I find it more likely the HN did strike first due to their religious beliefs that have become skewed over the millenia and the Shek fought back due to their militaristic code.

Is Bug Master like a title then? I mean, the Second Empire collapsed hundreds of years ago. So the shek and the hivers have to have existed for at least several hundreds of years. Or is the Bug Master somehow extending his lifespan many, many times over?

The term Bugmaster is likely a title given to him due to his utilization of Skin Spiders. His age, I actually explain in my Origins of the Hivers video, but essentially there is reason to believe he was the same engineer who genetically modified the humans into Enforcers (who eveolved into the Shek) during the mid second empire, and later a different batch of humans into the Hivers as well in response to the famine and rebellion. Catlon wanted a subservient workforce who required less food, and was resistant to acid and radiation (their main source of agriculture in the grid was blown up by a nuclear explosion. We know it was nuclear because of the presence of titrinite in the crater) His knowledge of genetic modification could have easily led him to discover a gene that slowed or prevents his aging. He also has a deep hatred and desire to attack catlon. that's actually why he is raising an army of skin spiders. That part isn't a theory either that's written in game.

The more I watch, the more I'm just completely fascinated by the scale and depth of the lore. Hopefully in the upcoming Kenshi 2, with it being set 1000 years prior, we will get a lot of answers to the Bugmaster specifically.

Dialogue and ingame locational clues indicate the massive rib and bone like carcasses that are found throughout kenshi, namely places stobes garden, the bonefields, etc were the aliens that the 1st empire fought. The behemoths were created to stand against the life forms massive gargantuan size that made even leviathan look like fleas. As well as there being no mention of the shek until the second empire when the enforcers were introduced to the world's lore and then as they evolved became the shek.

My headcannon is that Kral used to be one of the original Phoenix's from the HN. Especially with how Krals mentality is that of similar to a HN leader (and since it was long ago it would make a lot of sense if you think about it.)

Being honest? Despite siding with them, I can't stand Shek. Everything's just a dick-measuring contest to them and they shoot down my boi Beep every time he sings. I'll take in Skeletons and Hivemen, Holy Nation (exiles) and United City humans, but rarely will I touch a Shek.
