Redundancy is making a Bob. lets say I'm starting a base and I want to make iron bars with basic level mine, and refineries. Those will normally let 3 people operate each one. Most people think you should assign 3 characters to mine, 3 different ones on the manual iron refinery and up to 3 more on the iron bars. I think that's a waste of 3 people when Bob can do it. Have 2 out of 3 people on each machine. They are ONLY supposed to operate 1 machine. So 2 on mining iron, 2 on the manual iron refinery to make iron plates and 2 more assigned to make iron bars. Bob is told to do all 3 tasks starting with Iron bars, then do Iron plates finally Bob is told to mine iron. While having 9 people is faster than 7 doing it, the game doesn't always run each station at the same speed and some of your workers will stand around doing nothing because maybe the manual iron refinery can't keep up with the iron ore being mined. Bob will work on the last part of the chain first, and move from there down the list to the first part to keep the work flowing smoothly. Yes, you can have people doing multiple tasks to compensate, but canceling orders has to be done 1 person and one job at a time, so I find it a lot easier to have most people only doing a few jobs and make 1 Bob for each supply chain. Bill is another very useful person to have. Bill is assigned to put stuff in storage. Bill is the only one assigned this task (everyone else will do it automatically when bill won't keep up). Bill is unfortunately very bad at his job because bill is carrying around 1 empty traders backpack on his back so he can do his job and 2 traders backpacks filled with iron ore and a dead body, so bill moves very slow. On the plus side, Bill gains strength very fast and other than assigning Bill to put stuff in every container I have, and handing Bill 2 filled backpacks and a body, I don't have to pay any attention to Bill and his strength will go up a hell of a lot. I make all my people be Bill at some point.

thanks a lot for this information good sir, such simple concepts to solve such complexities yet never thought of it, stay safe!

@@user-zn7he5rm5t Given enough time in Kenshi, I'm pretty sure everyone would think of this, but it's so nice early on when you don't have tons of people, or advanced machines that take less people to operate. Bob is only needed early on in base building, but Bills are always in demand since it's the easiest way to auto train strength. When your base gets big enough, you can lighten Bills load and let him train athletics instead, so he won't be as slow when traveling with your attack group.

@@skavies2351 I would love it if you let me know if the current version is very different from v1.0 which I play until I can buy the game, got a 100 days+ gameplay I've grown attached to and loosing it forever scares me a bit
@skavies23514 жыл бұрын
@@user-zn7he5rm5t I'm going to go with not really. Was the whole map available in 1.0? (the bottom right corner was added last). Most of the updates removed exploits, or made the game slightly harder. I'm fairly sure you can update your 1.0+ games to current patch without losing stuff, I think the days of updates forcing a restart were all pre 1.0, but if you're that paranoid, make a separate install of Kenshi and copy the saved game folder over to the new updated one.

Wait so in assigning Bob's task. I should let him do the last task first up until the first task as last?

My question is that , is there any range limitation to this? In case I made my base too big for them, and I place let's say iron mine and raw storage too far from each other
@Orange01gaming2 жыл бұрын
Kind of. The game tries to put them all in one base. If you wall it off it should be one location, but sometimes it gets confused. Makes for bad pathfinding as well. Some people have built whole cities and it seems to work well.

Why can't I get a simple miner with 2 jobs to mine ore until it's full and then empty it out? Regardless if I put the haul job above or below the mining job he just goes aimless when the machine gets full
@Orange01gaming5 жыл бұрын
I believe if you have someone set to fill a copper storage automatically it should take care of this. Haul is specific to the storage container, so I just want to make sure you haven't set up a haul job for a different container or item type. Its not like rimworld or df where there is a generic haul job. Other than that I am not sure why you are having that issue.

I’ve recently started and was making money mining copper I tired automating it by setting one person to auto mining and another to auto hauling but when the person reaches the storage they stop moving and don’t go back to haul more iron how do I fix this?

Is there iron ready for them to haul? How far away is the iron from the storage? Otherwise I'm not sure why it isn't working.

Orange 01 This is in stack with the safe copper node and the storage is in a small shack near by and there is copper available for them to harvest yet they don’t move after depositing the first copper also this might not be related but is it a problem that when I assign them a job they don’t do it till I click on the node for them to do it thanks for the reply I honestly didn’t expect a response

Thanks I didn't know that the quality meant the speed at which you mine it. I thought maybe it was tied to how much you could sell it for but i see when i try to sell it, it's basically a set price no matter the quality. Thanks for the tips!
@Orange01gaming6 жыл бұрын
Yeah for ore quality just makes it faster. But item quality: shoddy, standard, high, specialist and masterwork have a HUGE effect on selling price.

How do you assign "engineer" or general roles like this (Farming, Police etc..) for general tasks instead of one specific task. like I.A Routine.
@Orange01gaming6 жыл бұрын
Hold down shift when selecting a object you are building. This assigns engineering. Same for selecting a farm to set them to farm that object. If there is a drop down menu when your right click on something you can assign those jobs to by holding down shift(IE throw out intruders when picking up enemies)

Started my first base and have my hive people farming and mining automatically. I've been having issues with hauling and making bread. Could you make a walkthrough video of making bread for example,? Step by step?
@Orange01gaming5 жыл бұрын
You basically need the wheat farm, a grain silo, and a bread oven(all of which is unlocked by bakery tech). I would also recommend having a wheatstraw storage near your grain silo. If you assign someone to each of these jobs it should go automatically. Let me know if its still is unclear and I could make a tutorial.
